Fair enough im no xlm editing guru either
...don't have the tech savvy to dedicate specific processor threads to different tasks.
If you're using Windows, go to the Task Manager, right click on the process, go to Set Affinity, then pick which processors you want it to use.
I also like renders made with Lantios Lights
http://www.daz3d.com/lantios-lights
They give vivid colors on the renders and in quite a good time.
I have noticed that rendering time is about 5 times longer when character has a hair than when wearing only some headclothes.
Below is the DS Pro 4.5 render of Julie mixed with some other Genesis morphs.
Used Lantios Lights preset "Lights01-NDS".
Rendering Time: 26 minutes 50.62 seconds
I know some of you enjoy these fun part rendering alpha channel (see through BG) and using a pic to fill in close
contact attempt
oh ho!
BTW these took less then 2 hours each ignorance is bliss
I be on Roids!
Yeah, that has happened to me too, I think we're supposed to log out at the end of every session, but I tend not to bother. Us staying logged in confuses it sometimes.
CHEERS!
...mine are due to my poor connectivity. I can get a "Server Not Found" error one moment and then be able to make the connection the next. During these times, I am shown as still being connected.
...he needs what this gal is packing.

I tried City Swan hair, but couldn't get it to sit right on her head. I then went back to Yoanna hair and used the correct UberSurface colours (which I took from Reby) and it looks much better. So far it's the only hair which matches Cameron's in particular, but only really from season 1.
Anyway, I'm happy with her and will see what some of the make-up textures look like
CHEERS!
Very nice,
I'll definitely have to invest in the rest of those sets. One thing you can do with UberSurface is to turn off raytracing which could cut render times a little. That render of Cameron took more than 90 minutes with raytracing on.
CHEERS!
Nice,
Is that the flat top from Neftis? I had all kinds of trouble with FiberMesh hair in Poser, it just wouldn't load. If it works better in DS I might be inclined to give it another whirl. I do, however, have a flat top from Soto which looks identical but, as far as I know, it's conventional hair.
CHEERS!
Great renders as usual Bob!
CHEERS!
I finally cracked it wide open! Been editing the LXM material definitions created by Reality, and they open all neatly formatted if you load them into Notepad++. Below is my first test using homogeneous volumes in Luxrender. I'm also using the silk cloth material for the Katya top she's wearing. I still need to find the sweet spot for sigma values, but as a work in progress it's not looking too bad.
Sorry about the 'blank gaze' but this was more of a test just to see if I could master lxm editing rather than going for art.
If you're interested, here's the volume I added into the materials definition.
And to add this into your characters, you need to add the following line into your LXO file for any skin models loaded. For example:
Sometimes it might treat the skin as a planar mesh, in which case you might get better results by using a geometry shell for the volume instead.
Nice job,
Gets a wee bit technical for me. I can just about fix DUF's but that's as far as I want to take things.
CHEERS!
Thats more then I do glad your getting it working
Well, the volume's certainly doing ... something. Just not entirely sure what yet. Still not getting expected results and I've gone through a lot of different settings. I've made a post on the Lux forums to hopefully get an answer, or perhaps even a good skin volume setting. The ultimate aim is, of course, photo-realism. If I can get believable skin then that would be the defining moment in getting truly astounding renders.
Another tip on your render you may want to turn down the gloss in the hair
This is a nice render, looks like you did a bit of DoF there as well which is a nice touch.
I found a scene in the Poser Runtimes, I'm working on adapting to DAZ Studio, first step was remove all the Poser lights.
right now the scene is only lit with UE2 area light, with medium high quality, I still need to go through and check all the shaders for the objects to make sure there is no funny business from the poser shaders, and then go through and light the scene with the lighting I want, instead of trying to rely on UE to do the work.
Nice,

Yeah flat top for Freak 5
If you wan to reduce the noise you need to cut down distance to 100 from 500 & crank up the occlusion samples to 250 or more and set UE to max quality
Nice job!
I've got the makings of that tucked away somewhere myself.
CHEERS!
Yeah flat top for Freak 5
Cool,
You'll have to give us the lowdown on how that works in DS.
CHEERS!
Just workign on some character designs for my comic... hope you like. :)

Thanks, Rogerbee. There was a preset "Raytracing Off" for the hair and I have used it in my scene. I have to try rendering this scene
with "raytracing on" for the hair, but since I like how the hair looked on my render, probably I will not do it soon.
... and a few more.
Another sci fi artist cool

Thanks for the comments, MadisonXF. Yes, and I like that how easy is to set up DoF in Daz Studio.
