grassy plains..
Satsuki in the Dragon Queen outfit. Eyes came out darker than I would have liked, but I made some bump maps for the accessories which came out rather well with a metallic finish in Lux. Postworked in Photoshop.
Nice work guys!
CHEERS!
Great job with Reby.
I'd love to see Summer Glau as well. Did someone ever create a commercial product for her?
...very nice. (I hate trying to reply while downloading, it's like suddenly everything is running at 150 baud).
So what am I DL-ing that would crimp the bandwidth at my normally super fast hot spot? The 64 bit version of Reality 2.5 for the new workstation.
OK interesting thing here. Got an email from Paolo with an upgrade deal (9.95$ with a special coupon code) for 2.0. So I click on the link put in all my information (after going to my Daz account site to get the order and serial number. Everything entered, I click on the submit button only to receive a message that I already upgraded. To tell the truth I really don't remember upgrading to 2.0 before as all I have in my Reality installs folder are ver 1.2.0.3 and 1.25.. So I hit my email archives to discover I supposedly did so back in December of 2011, yet I still cannot find the installer where it should be. Well after an exhaustive search It turns out I put it in a different folder for some odd reason.
OK back to the upgrade page and I click on the download button which brings up the Download Reality2 page with both my Daz order number and serial already loaded in. I select my choice (Studio4x 64 bit) and another error pops up as the Daz serial and order numbers are not correct. OK back to the email archives and finally I find an email from the preta3d store with the new (correct) order/serial for the 2.0 upgrade. Plugged that in and finally was able to Download (in the end saving 9.95$ in the process which pretty much covers the tab my happy hour pitcher of ale at the pub I am at).
So after a really crappy week at the day job, getting screwed on the whole PC renewal thing (never got the 30$ in free "Dazzi-Os" the email promised), and nearly being mowed down by a moron in one of those big a$$ 4x4 pickups while I was in a marked cross walk with the walk signal this morning, this was a very pleasant surprise).
After DLing the Studio3A 64 version, going to DL Lux 1.2.
OK, bobvan, I'm willing to give it another try, this time on the new rig with lots more memory and a real GPU. Lately not been pleased with UE as it seems to miss details like teeth, making everyone look like they forgot to put their dentures in after waking up.
Thank you,
Yes, someone did indeed do a commercial Summer, Jojographics did a character for V4 called Sun:
http://contentparadise.com/productDetails.aspx?id=20162
Weird she got tucked away on Content Paradise, I had no idea she existed till someone on another forum here mentioned her. It's really weird seeing her as she looks so much like one of mine. However, if you do a Summer Glau morph with Morphs ++ alone then it will look like that as there's no other way to do it save for ZBrush, which I don't think was used here.
I have her and she's next on my to do list
CHEERS!
Nice going,
You'll have to give us the full specs for this new machine you have, it sounds like a beast,
Good going with Reality, I too found something in my email archives which I forgot I had. I found a newsletter detailing a pack called Ruth's Redemption, I'd seen the installer around but thought it was something for V4. It was in fact a complete sci fi military base by DZFire! I'll have to check later to see if I have all the installers for it.
CHEERS!
I found I could Gen X all my S4 morphs without needing S4 for Genesis, so that was a pleasant surprise. Also, when I checked what the 'special shader' was that they'd used on Reby Hair was, it turned out to be UberSurface!
I noted down the settings, dialled up one of my favourite S4 characters, loaded her hair (Helios Hair) and set to work, it took absolutely ages to render, but, the result was so worth it!
I'll have to try it on other hair now
CHEERS!
PS (Not sure what happened to her lashes, but, I may use a different texture for that character in future.)
..the only reason I have S4 for Genesis was because I got her for free. Like you have, I found that adding the original Steph4 with GenX works so much better as I can pull in all the original S4 morphs including the NPMs (which really helps with my teen characters as I can use them with Teen5 Julie to get a fully flat chested morph for a 9 - 11 year old character that actually affects clothing fits).
...on related note, below is my first Teen5 attempt at Leela's best friend Tracey. Not wild about the lighting (for some reason UE lights seem to make the teen characters look like they forgot to put their dentures in when they woke up). Didn't use the HSS shaders as they would crash the render on my 32 bit notebook.
...ugh just noticed that the lower border of the Backdrops Made Easy prop frotzed and gave me the default molding instead of the stonework one one I selected.
The beast is still in process as I am running into system configuration issues. (never set up a system from scratch before). While everything checks out fine according to the BIOS, WIn7 refuses to recognise the GPU, properly (getting only a basic VGA format) or the 1 TB runtime/library drive at all.
After i get these issues resolved then it's setting up the libraries and runtimes (which will be on the 1TB drive while the apps are on the high speed 250GB boot drive).
Actually this nearly a generation old built as the old Johnny Cash song goes "One Piece at a Time". I realise now I could have twice the memory (24 instead of 12 GB - of course I would need Win7Pro to see it all), the CPU is a 2.8 gHz i7 and the GPU an nVideo Fermi 460 (which I just learned is now legacy hardware). However compared to working in 32 bit with Intel integrated graphics and OGL 1.4, this is still a huge step up.
Nice render,
One thing I have noticed is that, even with Gen X, the morphed characters aren't identical to their Gen 4 counterparts, I compared Danni with my older renders and there are differences, only subtle mind, but there all the same. I do like the bodies better as having to apply that armpit fix could be tedious.
Your graphics card wouldn't be an NVidia by any chance, they can be a bit tetchy with DS, a few of the 4.5 issues that I've read about have had NVidia cards at their heart. Drivers can be tough to find too, especially if you want to upgrade to Win 8 at any time! I got lucky with my AMD, I could find drivers for it and DS loves it! I'd ask around and see what cards others recommend and get one of them instead. I know, more expense, but, necessary I fear.
I just did another render, Danni again, but this time with skin from the new Antheia pack from the Male M3dia trio. I had to do a bit of shader tinkering as her standard preset didn't like the lights. I also added fresnel as I liked the effect on Reby. Some would say I should adjust the lights, but I don't want to. They are a daylight preset and the only thing that can adjust daylight is nature. In TV and film, if someone's skin is affected by lighting, you add make-up, which is sort of what I did too.
CHEERS!
...that was done on the notebook with the Intel integrated chipset as I am still struggling with system configuration issues setting up the workstation.
...a part of the issue may be the fact that I am not using the Teens5 HSS textures which would cause the render process to crash (actually the skin MAT is from Thorne's Elspeth character).
That's as maybe, I was more referring to the issue with the card on your new workstation, an older card and newer software might not work so well.
CHEERS!
PS (Got a download link for the 14th Garibaldi Beta, DOH! I'll probably be buying the full version before I get round to trying it!)
I had to give UberSurface hair one more go, this time it's Cindy Short with more Antheia presets on V5.
It's like L'Oreal for Daz, and it's definitely worth it!

Went back to 3Delight using cloud 9 lights like the results! Still took almost 3 1/2 hours typical lux times...

More cute stuff using Reality. Did a little postwork on this one to make the details stick out a little better, but it didn't need much work. Luxrender did most of the hard work. Skin's not as perfect as I would prefer, but all in all it came out rather well I think. I'm definitely improving on my lighting at least.
LB's elephant grass
Oh, LOL! I didn't realise it wasn't part of the background. Where is that from?
CHEERS!
Very nice!
CHEERS!
Well folks,
Hang on to your pantyhose, she's here, I've finally cracked her!!
Yep, I've finally done my definitive Summer Glau!! I used Jojographics Sun V4 as a base, Gen X'ed her head and put her on S5 with an S4 body then tweaked her with Morphs ++. The texture is from Sun and is absolutely perfect. Now how come this only took me part of an evening when all my previous work took more than 6 months!?!
Whatever, I'm over the moon, she's done!
CHEERS!
