I couldn't wait any longer and called the shop, talked with the owner. He said there are a lot of viruses on the hard drive. I guess they check that before they try to boot it. I know that no anti-virus software catches everything, but a lot? He said, once you get one, you get a lot...they multiply. But having more than one anti-virus software on the computer is supposed to be bad...it screws things up, right? So, how are you supposed to avoid these things? I guess I won't follow a lot of the links that are posted in the forums. That should help. I supposed I should run ccleaner and that search and destroy thing more often. But now I have to wait until probably tomorrow before I hear what the real problem is. This is killing me!

*burp* It was, it was very very very VERY good. *burp*burp*burp*
...Now its lunch time so I eat ten cheesecakes

...I'll take a dozen, and another three for the ride home.

I politely disagree. Or maybe I don't. I've never encountered an overly sweet anything as far as I'm concerned, so I can't really say. :D
I have an uncomplaint tangential to that, incidentally. The Farmer's Market vendors here now all have credit card scanners on their iphones. This means I can buy cupcakes with my debit card. This is great for them but probably not as great for me...
...Portland has become the Mecca of Foodie Carts. There are a quite a few areas in town which are basically Foodie Cart parks (some good taking up of a city block). In downtown alone there are at least four of these "Cart Courts" plus a number of single carts here and there. The closest to me in in the lower Hawthorne District which takes up an entire street corner. and has something like 12 different vendors.
They still take cash for the most part, but most of these locations have an ATM booth either on the premises or very close by.
Heh, heh, heh! The worst is yet to come! (evil face)
...hmmm I have the Ant Farm's Base Camp sets which include a glass dome.
...bugger, thread rolled over while I was in slumberland.
I bought that script.. maybe I can hack it to seriously unflate things/ (evil smirk)
...oh, and good morning (well only in Hawai'i now)...er, afternoon. Been doing the job search thing all morning.
New thread [sniff, sniff]...smells like a fossilised extinct equine.
Oh, geesh, sorry to hear that! I hope they can get it fixed cheap and easy! (frownie)

One of yours, Rezca? Very 1960s Disney-esque. Hope that's not insulting, I loved that period.

Austin has a very similar thing with food trucks. Not your average roach coach, but true fancy cuisine served off the side of a oarked truck! I try to visit the lots where these guys park because the food is almost always as good or better than a restaurant (and cheaper). There's a bbq truck a block from me that serves the BEST bbq chicken n Austin, I swear! (huge grin)
I can't help but to feel that there's something hinky in this.
Did the computer REALLY behave in a manner that would suggest presence of viruses or trojans?

Nah, was an image from my collection of Crow-related pictures. Was supposed to be poking fun at something... "You old crow!" and ... Well I forget what the canine-anthro was supposed to represent.
Was also this one, where the crow represented the guy's teacher. Neither of them liked each other, and they were both happy when it was time to leave university XD (Culpeo-Fox does some very amusing stuff, and is a great drawer!)
I'd mention if it was something I drew ^_^ (I can't draw that well ;P)

I'm not totally surprised. I've been a little lax in where I let links take me lately. And I've visited a couple of sites that I guess I should have stayed away from. *embarrassed* I guess it's my own fault. It did seem to be a little bit slower lately, and sometimes it would be busy and I didn't know why. I hope none of my private data was stolen. The thing is, these days you can't seem to trust any site completely. I think I will be extremely limited as to the links that I'll put on my site. Right now I only link to free rice dot com, a worthy site.
This guy is reputable...my best friend trusted him, and he didn't trust a lot of people with his computers. He was a tech himself, and if he brought his stuff there, then that says a lot to me.

All right, if the word of the mouth is good and there's a reasonable level of trust plus evidence pointing that way, then it is probably as they say it is. I have scrubbed couple of computers myself for my friends and friend-of-friends, and it is true that boy howdy, all kinds of stuff can cling in while trawling through the more dubious parts of the internet.

I won't say "this serves me well" as it's practically begging a virus to get through (or to have got through) but you should be able to run an on-demand scanner like AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy or Malware Bytes alongside a resident AV without conflicts. It's also a good idea to use a browser that can, directly ov via plugins, block scripts on a site-by-site basis - and allow only what you need to allow.
Yes, perhaps this will harden my resolve to stay away from such places! Perhaps. I really have so much to do I shouldn't be wasting time anyway.
Right now I'm just very depressed.
It just got considerably darker outside, I think it's going to pour again! The 7 day forecast had rain just about every day, heavy at times. My sump pump it getting a workout...the ground is saturated!

Ah! AdAware, that's the other one I was trying to think of. I have these, well not Malware Bytes, but the other two, plus CCleaner. I probably have to get updates, though, I haven't used them in a while. Lazy I guess. I just don't think of it often enough. I use them and then after a while I get lax. This should teach me...but I'm not sure it will. *embarrassed*

Opera + Ghostery combo has worked REALLY well for me. Since Opera is such a minority browser (and it has reasonably tight security built in), it can deal with a lot of hassle before Spybot or Malware Bytes needs to spring into action. Sometimes the quirks of Javascript can be beneficial, indeed...
*yeesh* miss the thread roll-over, miss the cheesecake...
... why no cheesecake renders? NVIATWACC! (^_^)d

I've recently started using Maxthon and it seems to be working pretty well.
If you have to go to a hinkie site or you spend time following strange links around the web I strongly recommend getting Sandboxie. It will let you run your browser in a completely sandboxed environment so if anything happens down one of these dark allies it goes away as soon as you close the sandbox.
Congrats on getting to name the thread Skiriki.
Just st down to have some delicious fluke (Flounder), scalloped potatoes and some sweet corn. Uhm ummm good. Nom nom.
Need to catch up on today's news after I eat.
Morning. Whoa gloomy day outside today, drizzly and cold under a pale grey sky that looks as if the Sun was late for work =3
...evening, somewhat gloomy day here and much cooler with things only to become more gloomy (including wet stuff from the sky) as the week progresses.
New Leela pic on hold until I can find a solution to the fringe effect issue on the tree and flutterbys.
Complaint (Minor) - Purchased the Gallery Plus subscription on Renderosity so I could upload more thna one pic a day, and it insists I've already reached the maximum uploads per day (I had uploaded a pic of Digi-I's tyrannosaur a few hours earlier). The subscription is showing up in my account as paid and enabled, yet I still can't upload anything ^^;
Argh! No problems getting a severed M5 head, but the fog camera and the glass sphere are driving me nuts!
I might not have a severed head render until this weekend.. geesh! (frownie)
..what a bother..
fog camera must be outside limits of the fog area
Not so much fog as very low clouds here
Chew gently... (^_-)
