I think we need to give the boys and girls at Daz a few hours to wake up and realise the mistake. Out of pure interest I checked my product history to see if it had been added. Much like Genesis 1 came with Daz Studio, I thought perhaps that they had secretly made it available to download to owners of DS, but no such luck.
No figure, no sale. We'll see how Daz responds, though given their silence prior to release in the Members section we could be in for a long wait. Daz Studio 5 perhaps...?
Edit: Seems I spoke too soon. In the time it took to post this, they actually added the Genesis 2 figure to the product library. Downloading it now.
Hello Herald,
I checked my downloads/product lib too. No G2 in sight.
Maybe they surprise us with Studio 4.7 too ;-)
Bah, you're too quick. I was editing my last post. Check it now, they've recently added it.
Yeah, I got it on DIM now too. Thanks for the hint!
I thought maybe Genesis 2 was part of V6. Below is what you get when you add V6 to a scene.
Very sexy! My kinda gal ;)
Ah, you're right. It appeared on DIM for me too.
Now it appears to be working properly.

I thought it would be neat to render like that.. but alas, no geometry file, so nothing showed up in the render. She was just a phantom of herself.
Go to My Account - Product Library - Filter, then enter the words Genesis 2 and there you should have Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials ready for download. It only just popped into my account now. Now I really hope Daz would give us some official statements about comparability between Genesis to Genesis 2 content, etc?
I found "Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials" in my products in a half hour of browsing the library. Is it what everyone call Genesis 2? DAZ separates the genders again, doesn't it?
Here is the Genesis 2 base female with default skin, Hongyu’s Bikini (Gensis 1) and HR-096 hair (V4).
sadly Genesis 2 has no real morphing capabilities out of the box. Those have to be purchased, making Gen6 female completely useless
Here's a quick and dirty side by side, g2 on the left, g1 on the right.
the differences are very subtle but definitely show an improvement in realism.
Still, its minor enough that after buying over 3000 dollars worth of genesis 1 products in the last 3 months, Im just too annoyed to buy a whole new figure that requires all new morphs etc. And no male?
DAZ, Im really unhappy.
Those of us who invested so heavily in genesis 1 deserve better.
And here is a closeup of the Genesis 2 Base Female with default skin.
The surface tab indicates that textures are Bree. The path is some like Runtime/textures/DAZ/Characters/Genesis2/BaseFemale/V5Bree…
So the base female comes with a modified version of the V5 Bree skin as her default skin.
I'm astonished! G2 comes completely bare O.o
From what I understand there are now a male and female version of the Genesis 2 base figure?
I assume from now on, this means clothing etc. will need to be either male G2 or female G2 compatible in order to work properly with corresponding poses, textures & body morphs? I can't imagine vendors will do both versions, G2M & G2F, for the price of a single product. So the more cynical might suggest that it's a neat way to increase profits for 'you know who' at very little overhead.
Likewise, if the geometry (2k+ polys) and rigging (..new articulation.... body joints) have been altered then almost all pre-G2 wardrobe, morphs and poses etc. are very likely to autofit poorly. Unless I'm missing something here? Again the more cynical might feel it's another way to force users to purchase new products.
As with all 'improvements', I feel the onus is on the people making the changes to make the case, with real examples, and not just tell us "it's better", before I am convinced it IS an improvement. Help us, the customers, make an informed decision.
Who really benefits? The people making money from each and every sale? Or the end user who now has to consider if he/she really needs both a male and female version of an item before every purchase and how many items they can afford to replace in the 'essential' wardrobe.
I know change is inevitable and these changes may even be necessary, but show us something to illustrate the benefits.
PS lets hope DAZ can at least add a few YouTube tutorials to help the novice users
G2 runs fine with C8.5 too
You've pretty much highlighted my primary concerns regarding V6. The lack of a child morph for her also suggests there may be a third figure specifically for children. So, Generation 4 all over again perhaps? On the upside, if there really is a K5 figure then they might still squeeze a purchase out of me yet. I've waited a long time for a dedicated child bundle.

Actually i just Autofit DArk Embrace 2 on Vicky 6 and it fit really well. some very minor tweaks had to be done to the bra but thats it. So Autofit seems to work pretty well, SO FAR
Ok seriously? This is turning out to be a big money milking scheme...there is barely anything out for the first Genesis and V5 if you compare to Gen4 and now there is allready a new generation and of course without anything, so you have to buy the same stuff again, that you allready had to buy in the last Generation and the one before....
that's precisely the bad taste in my mouth too. And for genesis 1 male there was next to nothing. Now there isnt even a male lol. And what, wait months for him and he'll look like m5 and then get next to nothing? I think the only reason gen1 male got as much as he did was because he was unimesh with her. Now he's screwed.
Im telling you, I am not buying this as it stands right now.
Given that they have reverted to a male and female base format, its not genesis at all anymore. Genesis was the notion of a unimesh figure, whose selling point was all clothes hair etc works for any gender! Now, have you read the new marketing? "The male and female specific bases not only allow for more masculine and feminine figures, but allow clothing to be designed more specifically for one or the other, rather than having to fit both. " Oh, that's the dead opposite of what they said about genesis 1 only then THAT was the selling point; that it could use any clothing! Its such a total flip flop as to be laughable in terms of taking that statement seriously. Its like selling mark 1 of a car and saying, "tired of changing tires? this car comes with unbreakable solid tires, no more flats!" and then selling the mark 2 and saying, "and what's great is, the air-filled rubber tires feel comfy as you drive!'
That said, those of us who buy male figures and products will surely see a severe drop off in support. Early indications of me being right? THERE IS NO MALE FIGURE.
i wish they would have done a pro suite bundle with the genesis 2 morphs considering some of the characters in the bundle require them and also the victoria 4 morph

You should probably calm down, it's not as serious as you think.
It's good that the female model comes out first, as they tend to shake the platform bugs out on the females first... then the male sees the improvement.
I have the same concerns about support, however we're not dealing with Michael 4, where vendors did a lot of work to fit clothing to him and got little return thus not much got made for it. G2Male will have the same ability to get clothing fit on him easier, so it may not be a bad situation as you think. We'll just have to see.
While not happy about the split in figures, I do want to have the best male figures possible. And though I can't say, it's probably not going to be that hard to get clothing between the two figures once the male shows up and mixing morphs won't be all that impossible either.
Meanwhile I haven't forgot about M5 (go buy Wynn now that there's no G2Male yet... We're not redoing him for M6 and you may want the skin), and I still have some projects left to do before I even look at the next gen.
I am so glad i have pretty much stuck with Gen 4. Genesis has never really played well in Poser, not even with DSON. I have enough Genesis 1 stuff that kind of sort of works enough when I need it. For the rest Gen 4 is just fine. Combined with my post work skills I can create things Genesis simply could never accomplish anyway.
The V4 morph is a PA product, so that can't be bundled.
We have our needs, but I could never do custom body morphs with Gen 4 or short male characters, so it's been a vast improvement for me.

Mmm makes ya wonder why they did it that way when you consider that the V4 and M4 Shapes for Genesis were done by Daz themselves. But for V4 to G2 they went the third party route.

Sorry, not spending a penny on genesis items as now theyre obsolete. If I buy more m5 stuff, theyll just release m6 and nothing will work with him.

Lol, they're not obsolete, quit overreacting.
To be honest both are going to have their uses. Gen2 will most like be for more gender-specific items as Gen 1 will be for more flexible items. I don't see giving up my Gen1 stuff as not everything will make it to Gen2 and I can use them both in a scene.
And I'm not going through another year of updating characters, so not many of my store will see a revamping just for M6.
