I'll say this, the forums are buggy only when the Cloud Flair Servers are buggy. How can i know this? Because your NEVER really on the DAZ servers until the Cloud Flair PROTECTION front end sends your post, it's all cached on it and sent from them to DAZ and then from Daz to them and then to you. It all has a LAYER that is supposed to be invisible to the user but is not. In truth all the drop outs and such is caused by the front end and not the forums. That is why some folks never have a problem and others always do. The connection to the front end. It never happened very much until it was added. When it did happen the DAZ3D SITE was down for all users most times, not just buggy for some Users as it is now.

I'm Not a fan of OFF site protection, but IMHO this is the only reason I know of that could cause some to not have issues and others to have them all the time. The Connection to the Middle Man from your location. That I'm sure is Routed in some way for every user. In normal talk, with Cloud Flair as the front end, we are on a MIRROR of the Forums, if the Mirror times out before DAZ3D gets your Action UPDATE (post) then that is sent back as a error to the Mirror. It comes down to the ROUTE to the mirror and from the mirror to the Site then back to the mirror then back to you the user. IMHO way to many IP route switches are possible when done this way. This causes Time out issues for some users when they connect to some routers from their location. It is also the reason the same user can get a Good connection sometimes, because the Routers are dynamic and its the luck of the draw which are in low use mode and the user keeps getting that bad connection over and over. If it is in low use Logging out and then back in will still send your connection right back to the router with the lowest traffic.

That's My complaint: It happens to me Too but not often.

Not that it never happens to me now, but since my local 4G signal came on line, I've had much fewer problems. This makes me think the speed of your internet connection may be a factor.

    @Jaderail: And, of course, we can't side-step it >_<.</p>

Putting your reliability and 'corporate image' into the hands of a disinterested third-party sounds about as smart as putting your life savings and superannuation in the hands of gambling addicts and felons (oh, wait...). This is all because the DAZ Inc server administrator couldn't handle (D)DoS attacks and other forms of "modern maliciousness', so they had to outsource their "web security" to create yet another weak link in the chain? To quote Misty, whisky tango foxtrot? I would have thought there'd be local "Internet security" firms available in Utah to allow them to use "local presence admins" to ensure 24-7-365 uptime, that would have been far less expensive than the current "solution". I've noticed in the past 48 hours or so that posting seems to be flakier than usual - hit Preview and the page just times out and does nothing, hit Submit and the update just times out the same. I did see a post from DAZ_Jon (or DAZ_someone) saying that they were 'working on a new solution', but that it wasn't ready for primetime yet....

I can see from the angle of your post over in the other piano thread KK that I'm going to have to model the strings AND the pegs (>_<)... how many sides do you think I should use for the string? if I use only 3 or 4, it probably will reflect the light weirdly from certain angles... I'll perhaps try an 8-sided string and see how many polys that ends up being >_<. The pegs will be there... but I probably won't model the string actually winding around it separately (that would be WAY too many polys, for the 264 or so strings...).</p>

Two obj files and a DAE file. Obj files don't have rigging. I don't know what DAE is, so I can't say about that one.

Yep, speed of connection would really play into this, If your Speed to the Mirror is such it times out the speed from the mirrror to the Site is still your packet speed, the same on the route back to you.

Yep, nothing we can do. I've Pinged my IP route, I'm in the deep south east, I hit DAZ3D from... San Francisco Cloud Flair servers.

    Dana

DAE is supposed to be a Collada file, which usually doesn't carry over rigging details but sometimes (Depending on the Collada version) might. However, from my experiences the rigging is either not present or broken.
Material zones and stuff are usually there. Depends on the application that's exporting the Collada file and often on the one importing it.

I'm physically OK.. nothing wrong blood glucose wise at all. Just real, real stressed and suffered one of my bouts of depression that can happen when I get real emotional.

It's a long story and I won't bore you with it, but sometimes things inside my head get dark and I kind of go off.

    Sorry.

I think I'm going to take a few days and just go offline and chill.

    So, don't worry!

    *hugs*

It looks pretty nice. We used to see much nicer sunsets in Fall River, where I used to live last century. But that's on the bay at the end of the Taunton River. I suspect sunsets are always nicer when near water like that.

I have to hop in the shower and go out.

...grabbed the .3ds (second) one as I learned I can just open then save it in a modeller as a .obj. Basically a nice Steinway A model which will look good in the studio of the London townhouse. The last one, while a full size concert grand, is unfortunately for Sketchup (.dae).

...well hit a snag with the new setup (currently at a late night hotspot).

Apparently the connection I get is good, but when I start FF all I get are timeouts and Unable to Connect errors. Just got done with a troubleshooting chat session which gave me a few suggestions to try when I get home. Tried to get online with the old wireless, but I think it knows it's days are numbered for the connection was so slow, made the the life and death of a G2 type star (like our sun) seem fleeting.

Odd, I use FireFox all the time now and don't have any issues with it with my Comcast connection. It's actually faster than IE.

...for me it is just getting the service started. I have a link to activate it online but cannot get to the page to do it (cant even get the Comcast site itself to come up) because I keep getting the timeout/unable connect errors. IE is no better. Windows shows the connection itself to be fine so I don;t know what the issue is. I'm not all that savvy about networking so I don't know if there is stuff I need to do on my end on windows to get it to work.
