Hmm.. Looks like they forgot to add the white texture for the tank top that comes with the Razor's Edge Outfit. Can anyone else that got the bundle check and see if they can get these printed paterns to work on thier end? The prints do work fine, but getting this missing file error is a bit odd.
The guy probably didn't sell well. I liked his content though.
There is definitely need for an adult hunky toon male figure, but I hope they would look at adult sexy male art and see what people are draing and illustrating before going the same route they went with Guy 7 who looked childish.
Yeah, I agree with you Serene Night. I'm a bit new and wasn't around for is release, but he just doesn't seam to fit the over exagerated toon beauty of the girl type figure. I remember watching like the animated Batman show when I was younger from like the 90s, and I'd like to see a toon type character like that. Kind of like that The Captain character, or whatever he's called, the one from 3D Universe

Girl is pretty sexualized. They'd need to really ramp up his buffness and parts to really make the cut for me. I'd tell them to research a bit more on what sexy male toons are popular since there are a number of very popular artists. Usually there are more muscles, smaller heads and a lot of great body there to admire. Girl is supposed to be a pinup character. There are male pinups. And they don't look like Guy. They are hot.
While he could definately look a little more "toony" I think Marcius's Rock fits pretty well... may be just an issue of changing some textures around (Don't get me wrong, I wanna see a Guy 8 pretty bad... but I think Marcius does good stylized work.)

Hmmm...I don't know what character you all are looking at when you say that Guy 7 doesn't look buff, he's actually very muscular by default. I think stylistically he and Girl 7 match although her head is too big. They look Italian to me but Italian is just my opinion.
Any toon is going to seem somewhat childish no matter what as children are the main demographic audience that reads cartoons and illustrated literature. The Gone with the Wind novel wasn't illustrated. Even adults that read these graphic novels and comic books are chided for indulging in children's entertainment (although really much of all that is too violent for children).
I think a certain guy from Finland (and many, many others) might disagree with the highly-stylized illustrations being for children.
That said, I do agree that is the stylized male figure isn't in a similar style to the Girl 8, then it wouldn't really make sense as the Guy 8. That said, the kind of figure Serene Night is talking about is probably going to be more interesting to me personally than the Guy 8 based on the new Girl. However, hopefully DAZ can manage to accomodate both?

Not really. There can be mature looking hot males toons. Just check Deviant. And no one would ever mistake one of them for a child. Nor do they have to look like girl either. Presumably the male pinup market isn't the same audience as the female pinup market anyway, so I don't see why the male must match the female specifically. That hasn't worked well in the past... with Guy/Girl. You rarely ever see them together.
What I personally would want in my toons is less realistic skin. I think toons should definitely have a more smooth skin tone so they look more animated. I don't really want super realistic skins on my toons.
Go walk around any library, then department stores, then Amazon and count the number books with children's illustrations and compare that number with the number of toon style adult pinup style illustrations, wherever all the places those exist. The number of children's books, not even counting the number of illustrations in the books, will exceed the adult pinup cartoon illustrations even when those counted individually by illustration, by several orders of magnitude. You can even throw in real photographic pinups and the number of children's books will still dwarf the number of pinups.
Also, gaming & animation markets that are very big and that Girl 8 & Friends style is similar to many of those styles.
I'm thinking of like Mike Turner's style when I say the Guy wasn't buff or manly enough, and I think that's kind of what Serene Night was getting at as well. He was a comic artist that passed away some time ago, but his work still shines today, and he's easily one of my favorite artist, along with J. Scott Campbell (whos character's remind me a lot of The Girl).
That makes absolutely no sense to me, but obviously we each use DS in our own ways. Hopefuly you'll get your male version sooner rather than later..
Well, I was just gonna buy the Pro Bundle but couldn't decide what add-ons to get, so I ended up buying all of them except one. Maxed out all the free stuff I could get from G8, G3 and G2 as well. This let me get a few male items that I don't usually get around to buying.
30% off, PC+ (30% off), buy 3 add-ons (20% off), banner (20% off) and gift card (20% off) = $33.86 for the pro bundle.
All but one add-on was $228.36. PC+ discount gives 193.79. buy 3 add-ons (20% off) gives 155.03 and gift card (20% off) gives 124.03.
So just under $160 for everything except one add-on. And $195 worth of free G8, G3 and G2 items. I think PC+ discount helps you get more free items here too, right? Anyways, 34 total items (where one item is the Pro Bundle). 45 item download.
Oh, and $6 off because of PC+ coupon. This mostly went toward the free items that I went over a little. Gotta max out every penny.
If it wasn't for the banner and gift card promotions, I don't think I would have bought nearly as much, or even considered it. So I guess it's working lol
I would like to see Guy 8 have a similar look to the old circus musclemen with wide shoulders, narrower waist and pinup backside. I really DID like Guy 7 and used him for an avatar in an RP forum as a 28 year old. Maybe as I get older IRL I lose touch with how young or old these characters appear to be.
The girl has always been a highly suggestive stylized adult figure. She has gens. I don't and never ever, have considered her a child figure. Or designed for the kids market. Some of her characters may look more childish, but she's far too suggestive to be a kids cartoon.
I'm honestly not even sure what we are debating here though.
I don't care a bit about childrens illustrations or books and I never have except when I was a kid. I'm sure there is an extensive market, but zero interest in what sells what does not, or how it works. Just not my cuppa. IF your arguement is that kids illustrations sell? I'm sure your right.

The first one is Girl 8 full size, the second one she's scaled down to around 92%. I think they look best together when she's scaled down a tad (or him scaled up a tad).
The Guy and Captain Charisma are great combos and are great mates for The Girl.

50% Girl 8 dial, 25% Penny 8, 25% Stephanie 8, a couple dial turns on the nose. Quick post-work in GIMP to even it all out.
Didn't spend a ton of time posing this one, but this was the #1 idea that popped into my head when I thought about my contribution to this thread... because I am totally serious about cannon balls.

I wish they had recreated an updated "Girl" hair, Girl 7 and 8 here are using the hair from Girl 6.
Girl 7 is still my favorite, I think she's the perfect refinement of the classic shape. I'm sure the new one will grow on me, and as a Girl fan, it's the first Pro bundle I've bought in Genesis 8.
On a side note, I'm having horrible problems with materials on Girl 7 for Girl 8, I will try reinstalling but it keeps trying to use an unidentified UV.
