It's not a matter of preference for me, it's just far from realistic is all. A warrior woman wouldn't be so small up top is the point.

Not necessarily, but I guess it depends on each person's view of what a warrior woman is. Look at Jillian Michaels. She's really tiny (5'3), and she doesn't have massive breasts, either.

Now if we're talking Futurama 'death by snu-snu' amazon style chicks, that's a whole 'nother story. lol

She's a personal trainer though, I wouldn't really look at her as a reference personally. (for a real world fighter)

I guess just like I wouldn't look at a cross country runner or a yoga teacher. (again for a real world fighter)

Even if you go towards say Xena, Callisto.. or even older with Red Sonja a la Bridget Nielsen. None of them seemed particularly back-breakingly big either. Lucy Lawless is only a 36C roughly.

So I did! Sorry 'bout that. I'm just used to an "up top" reference on a woman being the breasts. lol

In the case of her arms, I agree; however, there are some poses where her arms "look" ok. For instance the pushup pose on the last render of the standalone option:
    http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/gia-6

Although I don't know if that's down to lighting, or if she comes with a mat option that adds more shading for definition?

Oh be honest...it's always about the boobs *snicker* Kidding kidding :O)

On topic, maybe someone could convince Zev0 or someone to do some arm and leg morphs etc to vary the scale etc. Or someone who does more fantasy characters to do a Gia custom hybrid to cover the want/need for someone more muscular in the arm area :O)

I do custom but mostly faces so not something I think I would be good at though IDK I have never tried :O)

I saw the question but I had to forward it on as I am not sure. I know they usually use reference scans from their big body scan thing so I am thinking it is probably based off of someone specific. That said I am not at all positive who or if they could say who for that matter or even if that is the case so I forwarded it on for someone who does know to answer. Sorry I should have mentioned I saw the question and forwarded it on :O)

I will say this for DAZ: This character is new, and is a bit different from what I've come to expect of them. It's not Stephanie, not Aiko or The Girl and that's nice. You don't see too many even slightly muscular female characters in the 3D world, so they went out of their way and did take a bit of a risk. Maybe one day they'll even touch more chubby characters. Heh, just kidding.

Still, I am happy that this character exists and that DAZ did take the time and effort to create it.

About the more defined upper arms, that would have been a great chance to add an additional partial body morph to the package. Unfortunately, DAZ has stopped doing this for whatever reason.
And yeah, this Pro Pack was screaming for a metal bikini. Seriously. That might have been the one chance where skin-tight clothing without any morphs might have been acceptable (although not very applaudable).

Also, as was mentioned before: How could the promo pictures for Alanna Hair end up in the actual store? They would have looked bad ten years ago. I just hope that they do not do the actual product justice.

I'm still on the edge of purchasing Gia >.>; I better start saving pennies for the next Gia sale lol.

I would like to buy just Gia, but paying 30 just for that without other addons is a bit rip off compare buying the pro bundle or starter bundle. Tough choices haha.

On the subject of what a real warrior woman looks like, first of all what is a real warrior woman? MMA fighter, Amazon, Bodybuilder, etc. I mean of those three examples, one isn't, one is more or less imaginary and one is but by modern day standards. In talking about what they would look like, I've seen Lucy Lawless and Bridgette Nielson mentioned both of which were fit women but they were still actresses and not someone raised and living as a warrior. I doubt if back in the day there were any melee specialists that were women as it was not considered acceptable for a woman to do that sort of thing. If she did it would likely be done in secret but she wouldn't be able to take it to extremes for fear of revealing her secret. I mean how are you going to look like a fair maiden or even a bawdy service wench if you have arms like "The Rock"?

I mean there just aren't enough real life examples of what a true warrior woman looked like to say how a true warrior woman looks. Unless you mean modern day warrior woman in which case you can just look at women in the military. Instead what we have are opinions based on people imagining what it would take to be a warrior woman and so you got people envisioning more massive arms and shoulders so she can cleave thru armor, mail, flesh and bone to hack off someone's arm in combat. Would a true warrior woman be that way though? I mean in a circle almost entirely made up of men a warrior woman would be hard pressed to go toe to toe with a true warrior even if she did have arms like Arnie. So in my opinion a true warrior woman would be more brilliant then she would be muscular because that's how she would make it, fighting with her wit and cunning not by trying to out muscle her opponents. She would be attractive enough to play the sex card but not so attractive she would turn everyone's head as that would draw unwanted attention. She would be fit and have great tone and endurance and for a woman, strength but she wouldn't be muscle bound.

+1 to this. We will never know what a true warrior women looks like as each person have their own view about it.

Well, I did pick up the base figure (also went back and picked up the V6 base as well). I see that the Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials showed up in my downloads with them.

I'd already downloaded that package, so is this simply because I just purchased an actual base figure, or have the starter essentials been updated for the Gia base?

I'm not sure if anyone has answered this yet, but the answer is no, they starter essentials have not been updated. You should be fine if you have already installed the Starter Essentials for Genesis 2 Female. We included the starter essentials with Gia to ensure that everyone who purchased Gia has access to the Starter Essentials.

Ah yes, real warrior women as opposed to fantasy warrior women... Well, there's historical accounts and archaeological evidence that can tell us quite a bit, but there are no convenient pigeonholes in which all female warriors can be put - one size does not fit all, and such finds are too few and far between to know if they are exceptional female warriors or typical of most female warriors from their culture. After all, the majority of female warriors were simply mothers and wives defending their homes.

The time period and culture will vastly change the appearance (and performance) of each warrior type e.g. just because the Greeks & Romans held one point of view, that did not mean their enemies felt the same way. But even so, female warriors were never particularly commonplace. (The ancient Scythians had female warriors that got buried with their horses, which some cite as the real source of the classical Amazon legends.)

One thing that is fairly consistent with only very rare exceptions, female warriors wore the same clothing/armour as their male counterparts. The stereotypical barbarian warrior is more a convention of fantasy artists than anything else. At a stretch, one could cite accounts of the gladiatrix. While some were indeed nude and others clad in custom armour that would fit into the category of skimpwear to titilate the crowds, most of the serious fighters were suited-up exactly the same as the male gladiators (see attached marble dated to the 1st or 2nd Century C.E.).

There are accounts of female warriors from all over the ancient world, perhaps most notably Zulus, Ethiopians, Anatolians, most nomadic peoples, cultures right across South Asia and India, ancient Europe... well, might as well say the entire world pre Greco-Roman influence.

That all having been said, if we look to the Japanese Samurai, there were the female warriors called the onna-bugeisha, the most famous perhaps being Tomoe Gozen. They would perhaps be considered the best all-round female warriors to have lived. So ironically, the most proficient female warriors from actual history were quite different from the statuesque power-houses of fantasy art.

Gia, on the other hand, is a fantasy art ideal.

Did somebody ask for a metal bikini? So obviously this isn't the greatest render... In fact I might submit it as one of the worst (I put it together in about 5 minutes). However, I wanted to show off some of the versatility that Gia and the Genesis 2 Females have. I used Autofit to convert the V4 tunic to Gia (I had to use the V4 for Genesis 2 female to do the conversion, but there are ways around that). I used the Chain Mail Fantasies for V3 Sp chain mail textures on the tunic, and voila a chain mail bikini. Also she is bald because I was too impatient to wait for the hair to render.

Thanks so much Jabba for all of the render posts! I appreciate you taking the time to check out the mixing and settings to see what you can get and also the very straight forward and thorough comparison render! It is very much appreciated and wonderful job on them!!! :) A;so thanks so much for posting your settings as I mentioned in my post previously. I think that is a very very nicely done more muscular/strong look like many were asking for. She doesnt look like she would have one bit of an issue lifting those swords and swinging them with a furry. I really actually like the look you got. So I guess triple thank you :)

No chronal displacement needed. I'm going here: http://pennsicwp.org/. Besides, time machines usually involve killer cyborgs from the future, and that always gets messy. Not what I want in a vacation.

I just took a looks at FW Neomi. She comes with Std mats that use the std shader and "SSS" mats that use the AoA Subsurface shader.

Only the SSS mats load with SSS turned off.

Is this a bug? In what sense are these SSS Mats?
