i used to have a game going in the old forum archives. i had all my runtime content lists up and asked people to pick 3 items to render together. was great! fun.

I do not know what to do. Reformating the hdd is too extreme of an action.

DS should run without the CMS. you'll save some memory without the cms running.

i turned it off on my pc, with DS4.0, not sure if it's necessary with 4.6?

Is it odd that I want to use smart content?

I know how to use DS without smart content though.

Not really, I use smart content quite a bit myself, especially for getting the base figures into a scene. I just find it easier to find Genesis in smart content than to have to drill down through the content library just to load the figure in.

you can move the base figures up the folder ladder. just don't move stuff in the data subfolders.

if uninstalling and reinstalling didn't fix the cms thing, dunno. i guess it's odd to me to want to use cms. :)
but i spend more time arranging folders than rendering. odd. lol

LMAO Thats very clever, and a bit lazy at the same time XD

Stupid question, for anyone who's more computer savy than me - Is it undesirable to have too much stuff on your desktop? I am wondering if having a cluttered desktop is bad for computer performance. I just uninstalled a whole bunch of stuff earlier, deleted heaps of stuff too. Holding off on defragmenting cos on my PC it takes a full day (possibly longer) to run. Sooo need to clean out Daz runtime. But anyway, last few weeks or so, I've seen my computers performance drop rapidly, to the point that it takes 6mins to load a image in Photoshop!

I'm trying! The thought of a frosty cold beer Friday evening sustains me in my hour of trial...

I want my darn paycheck! Still, after working for the company for a year, ONE minor hiccup is actually a pretty good track record. And the nice payroll lady emailed me to apologize as well.. I love my temp agency!

I thought I'd have to pay rent a day late (Friday instead of Thursday) but I have enough cash reserve to cover it tomorrow, whew! Dodged THAT bullet.. bank run Friday morning, then into work, then go home in the evening and get BEER BEER BEER!!!!!! I'll cook up my special lemon pepper and brown mustard turkey burgers and add SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE! :cheese:

Did you manually remove the old databases? Uninstalling will NOT remove those. If they are damaged, only manual scrub will deal with it.

I deleted the whole folder that the CMS was in which included the databases. I also think I deleted DS too so I got to reinstall it again.

Absolutely sure about that? Because I've discovered that it lives in couple of places, not just one neat directory.

Check out this location (OR its equivalent -- use Search Everything to find directories called 'databases'):

    C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D\Content Management Service\databases

That folder is not there as I reinstalled it out of the program file directory.

In that case, then turn to Nuts & Bolts forum, where they deal with this issue better. Sadly, I've done all I can to help.

Yes yes it can, your Desk top and the Vid Ram needed to Display it are BOTH System Cached so you can Swap to and from it at anytime. That Ram can never be Freed up again as it is used by the Sys OS for the OS. I keep my Desk Top clear for this very reason. It will not Grab a Large bit of Vid ram at start that I might need to Render with later.

EDIT: Also all the Shortcut Paths are Cached, more RAM used.

will do and just didKulay Wolf, for some reason many can not get the CMS to run on their PC. It has something to do with how that ONE PC is/was set up. The OS settings, Anti Virus settings and other factors all add more to the issue. It could be as Simple as the Port Address the CMS is calling is already in use by another program you have Installed. But you really need Advanced PC skills to find and fix it in most cases.

Ah, I thought it was influencing the performance... I better clear it, I have folders all over the desktop, even a personal separate Daz runtime (of sorts), which holds all my custom made/edited textures for my characters in daz :red: Now moving that may be strenuous. :shut:

It worked before which is frustrating that it does not now.If you've had System updates after the Last WORKING CMS install that can be the Issue. Do you know how to Roll back your PC and test the Updates one by one? If not I'm afraid it's to big a job to do the info needed in Text alone. Sorry.

    EDITED: For Clarity.

That's some serious looking armor, but Vicky is going to need breast reduction surgery to fit in it! :ahhh:Wishlisted for M5, though.

I have some PowerAge armor for Vicky that's pretty decent.I also have http://www.daz3d.com/historical-armor-for-v4 which is reasonable.

Or maybe I'll just got all WAR VIXEN! :snake: :vampire: :smirk:
