Ah, I thought it was influencing the performance... I better clear it, I have folders all over the desktop, even a personal separate Daz runtime (of sorts), which holds all my custom made/edited textures for my characters in daz :red: Now moving that may be strenuous. :shut:
Ah, yes. Folders on Desk Top. I'm not sure WHAT they do to the OS. I think they are still just short cuts to the Public folders but I've never used them so I've never looked to see how they get allocated. Maybe just Remove the icon Short cut? Maybe the Folder stays in public? No idea.

the folders on my desktop aren't short cuts, the desktop is their only location lol XD I imagine the folder size would impact the performance a great deal, since simple shortcuts affect it. God I got some computer spring cleaning to do... and its not yet spring :P

Try this one. It rocks. Especially on female characters. NO BOOB PLATE.

That's some serious looking armor, but Vicky is going to need breast reduction surgery to fit in it! :ahhh:

Breasts are soft tissue, so you'd want to dial 'em back or flattened (which si likely to do weird things to the mesh) anyway (decades of fantasy art notwithstanding, nipples will not push even leather armour out).

i'm stuck in ms access today. using a querie to populate a dropdown box, but need to add a couple things not in the table. no know hows

Does Access use stored procedures? If so, you can add them in one of those, especially if it's the same ones all the time. Or if not, put them in a new table just for that purpose...be sure to match table structure...and do a union in your join with that table.

I just have this visual.. .. Vicky comes back from a long day of skeleton-crushing, takes off her armor, and with a loud *BANG* her boobs suddenly explode outwards! :bug: :ahhh:

It would make one heck of a hilarious animation, though! %-P

LMAO Thats very clever, and a bit lazy at the same time XD

Stupid question, for anyone who's more computer savy than me - Is it undesirable to have too much stuff on your desktop? I am wondering if having a cluttered desktop is bad for computer performance. I just uninstalled a whole bunch of stuff earlier, deleted heaps of stuff too. Holding off on defragmenting cos on my PC it takes a full day (possibly longer) to run. Sooo need to clean out Daz runtime. But anyway, last few weeks or so, I've seen my computers performance drop rapidly, to the point that it takes 6mins to load a image in Photoshop!

You might want to get and run a couple of special apps...ccleaner, Ad-Aware, SpyBot Search and Destroy. They will find things that your regular anti-virus will not, including dead registry entries and such. Look for them at download.cnet.com, they're all free apps.

I remember reading somewhere that they wouldn't actually have been able to make armour, real armour, to fit a female who was well endowed, because moulding the sheet of metal out to fit the protuding bits would make the metal too thin over those parts, and therefore not very practical as it would be like tinfoil over the bust and not very protective.

Plate armor was labor intensive and expensive to make and was not something mass produced. even so, I'm not to sure many well endowed females were running in any type of armor back in those times. (historically speaking)

That makes complete sense., I've done some metalwork for car repair and it doesn't take a lot of hammering to produce tissue-thin (and worthless) shapes.

Maybe scale mail or chain for the well-endowed...! :bug:

Just got the Info you need, Spyro. The Folders themself's should Live in the User Profile they were created in. The Desk Top Icons are just Short cuts. Removing them should NOT hurt anything, the content should keep working fine in DS as the real path is used and not the DT path. I hope this is news you find comforting.

I have a couple of totally practical armor sets for V4. They're out there, but they are overwhelmed by all the skimpy things. I have Historical Armor, and Lux Lucis.

Why is it that the little white stickman in the dingus at the top of the store pages has his head on fire?
I mean, it's cool that he runs around when you cursor over him and all, but why is his head on fire?
It seems unnecessarily cruel to the little stickman. Is it supposed to be funny? Does he represent Ghost Rider?
I shouldn't contemplate when my brain hurts.

...I thought it was a shooting gallery game and if you hit him enough times, you would get an extra discount.

I forgot I had the Lux Lucis! Ok, my asset management system just went up another notch in priority.

I need to get file format detils for all the Poser-format files (cr2, hr2, pz2) and write a parser. I have WAY too much stuff to remember it all! (cry)

I do not know what to do. Reformating the hdd is too extreme of an action.

DS should run without the CMS. you'll save some memory without the cms running.

i turned it off on my pc, with DS4.0, not sure if it's necessary with 4.6?

Is it odd that I want to use smart content?

I know how to use DS without smart content though.
...I don't use it. I even have my content tab set to the old "tree" style (I don't particularly like the default horizontal scrolling) like older versions did and I have no issue getting around and finding what I need.

you can move the base figures up the folder ladder. just don't move stuff in the data subfolders.

if uninstalling and reinstalling didn't fix the cms thing, dunno. i guess it's odd to me to want to use cms. :)
but i spend more time arranging folders than rendering. odd. lol

I don't use either to load base figures I just do this.
....nice and simple. So are the choices above your render settings?

...yes I agree, next to the old Joan of Arc for Vicky3/Steph3 (which is still probably the most practical and authentic looking female warrior armour in the store) This is actually rather nice

Also, check out the Knights Templar texture add on. It has scale mail under the plate.

folders (actual folders) and files on the desktop use more resources than shortcuts.. not sure if in windows 7 or 8 if you can even put a folder or a file on the desktop anymore M$ has changed how all that works.

That looks good - wishlisted! I have a TON of impractical armor for The Vicky Chronicles but I need some practical stuff for later in the series, and for other characters. :-)

*edit* Crap it's on sale! Ok, just enough in the bank to cover it.. sigh.

...yes WIn7 can. When I was still doing manual transfers from my content archives to begin installing everything on the new workstation in March, I copied the entire folders onto the desktop as I went so they were more accessible (faster than installing directly from the DVDs/USB sticks).

A texture set for a PC item that costs more than the item itself? I rarely purchase those. I guess if you're not in the PC the prices are about the same.

So in windows 8 You cant save any files directly to desktop, all must be shortcuts? Thats different... Is it to stop people doing what I've done? Or they becoming ridiculously $$$ crazy, and you have to buy unlocks or something stupid! lol (I hate programs you buy that are like that... "Here buy our software... then buy all these unlocks so you can actually do all the things with the program, which was the initial reason you bought the damn software" XD
