I am having a difficult time installing Adobe CS2. I run the installer several times and I still cannot find the installation of any of the software. I guess I would have to try to install them individually once I get those files downloaded.

If you downloaded them from the Gizmodo links you should have 4 files (CreativeSuiteCS2Disk1.exe, CreativeSuiteCS2Disk2.exe, CreativeSuiteCS2Disk3.exe and CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_1.exe). Here are the steps I used:

    1. Run CreativeSuiteCS2Disk1.exe. It will extract and then start the install process but don't click next just let it sit there for a minute.

    2. Run CreativeSuiteCS2Disk2.exe and tell it to extract to the same place you extracted Disk1 to. Do the same with CreativeSuiteCS2Disk3.exe and finally CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_1.exe.

    3. Once all of those have finished go ahead and let the installer continue and it should install.

Note: If you're running a 64bit version of Windows it will try to install them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe. This won't work since the installer doesn't recognize either the space or the ( in the directory name. You'll have to install it elsewhere. I created a C:\Apps\Adobe directory and let it install there.

Also if you're on Win7 or later the C:\Program Files directory is protected so you'll have problems with when it tries to add your serial number to the apps so it's best to install outside of that directory as well.

This is one of the problems with installing an app that's 10 years old on a more modern OS. Things have changed over the years.

Is all of that actually free, or trial? I own Photoshop CS2. Can you install just the other things? I don't want it to mess with my serial number for what I actually paid for.

    Dana

At the beginning of the year Adobe decided that they didn't want to have to keep the license servers open and they weren't going to support CS2 anymore so they put out a download page where you could download the entire suite or individual apps. It's the full blown CS2 suite (or the individual apps) and not a trial.

The actual download page is no longer up but you can still directly access the files from Adobe's site. The serial number for the suite and the individual apps is one provided by Adobe and is usable by everyone.

If you already have Photoshop CS2 I'd probably leave it alone as changing the serial number could impact you if you tried to upgrade later. Though I'm not sure they'll give you a discount if you try to upgrade from CS2 to the latest version anyway.

You can still download the files and install the other apps in the suite if you wanted. Also you might want to have them in case something happens and your install disks don't work for whatever reason. Think of it as a backup.

In actual fact Adobe did and I think still do state on the download page that the information and downloads are there for the use of people who have already purchased the programs there, and not for people to download as a free copy of the programs.

as stated in another thread when this was foirst talked about

Actually, it isn’t officially free unless there’s been an update -the nearest to official word in fact is that it is there only for those who have a license for CS2 already, which they will not be able to use due to the closure of the activation servers. However, the forum post is coming up as deleted when I try to follow the links so I’m not sure what the status is now.

This is a link to Adobe's statement
    http://blogs.adobe.com/conversations/2013/01/update-on-cs2-and-acrobat-7-activation-servers.html

i stayed in the closet less than 5 minutes. my bubby was whining. i let him in with me, then he whined to be let out. let him out, more whining. it wasn't bad in there. a lil stuffy. if i put couch cushions on the floor in there, it could be a sleeping area.

...well there is also something like 16 of Lisa B's plant sets, some of Pedatron's Grass tiles, as well as a couple tree backdrops from Ecomantics.

...and Leela, but don't think she's the cause.

Well, if you're using clones and not instance, you have serious material bloat.. each entity will have it's own texture RAM (geometry is negligible).. so you could be swapping to HD and not realize it. Check the performance monitor and look at working set size.

I've seen one entity cloned turn into 30GB of texture on a 12 GB system.. swap hell.. slower than a salted slug. :blank:

...but they (the flutterbys) look so much better than using the "Swarm" option as I get none of the fringing effect that occurred with the low res versions. The final render took 3hrs and twenty one minutes, the file size in memory was 7.8 GB before rendering.

Hmm.. don't you have 16+GB on that rig? 3 hours isn't actually that bad, all things considered.. and sounds like it's worth the wait!

...nah, only 12GB. Board is set up for Tri Channel configuration so I have to add memory in multiples of 3. However that really helps with the rendering speed as the load is spread evenly over all the sticks rather than cascading from one module to the other. I eventually plan to upgrade to 24G but need to save up lots of cash as it also requires upgrading the OS to Win7Pro (Premium only addresses up to16G). While rendering, the file size peaked at 9.8GB so I think 900 x 1,200 is as big as it can go. Debating whether it would be worth posting in the August PC challenge so can't show it yet.

I'm actually happy with Zombie Nurse, so I'm moving on to merging War Vixen and Zombie Nurse into the tentacle eyeball forest. Taking a quick lunch break, then back to work!

I need this uniform, though: http://www.daz3d.com/victorian-nurse Totally non-sexy but more accurate. I'm goiing to need a nurse uniform anyway, for one of my stories. Urgh. :blank:

...well learned from the LDP-R thread that PS Elements will work with a few initial adjustments. That is a much more cost effective solution but one I must still wait on and save for (hopefully Elements will go on sale again - seems Adobe does so every few months).

Next purchase in line though are the G2F Morphs, V4 - G2 Clone, and Zev0's Forthcoming Growing Up shapes/morphs. I've been watching development of this and am very impressed with the results. The proportioning/aging is excellent as they don't look just like little versions of the adult figure.

I can actually take Leela from a child to a teenager without having to create totally separate versions from the ground up.

complaint - why do scifi sets and vehicles have numbers and alphabet letters in the textures? is so much easier to add text as needed then blend it out.

...I know I run into that a lot myself. It would be nice if registration numbers and unit designations were done as "decals" instead (like Stonemason handles graffiti for his city sets). Then you could simply turn the stock ones off, create your own in a 2D app, and apply it with the LIE.

Fire Angel does offer a lot of insignia and paint scheme options both with his aircraft & vehicles and as free expansions as well as blank roundels & such to create your own.

snippet drop! demoted to chapter 3 :)

A range of bluffs girded the coastline. The Adrianna Sea glimmered under the midday sun. Nary a dragon to be seen on the horizon, their domains were far to the North. A carrier shuttle hovered in for a smooth landing, touching down on the parking plateau. Human and Elf personnel gathered up their equipment cases and disembarked. A security troll waved people toward a guarded crevice in the bluff, people moved forward in groups.

Garren rubbed his neck, casually hiding his rank insignia. At age twenty nine reckoned in terra years, it wasn't difficult for him to blend in with the active duty ranks. A standard issue travel coat fit tightly around his muscular figure, it effectively covered the blues of his junior rank uniform. The wind whistled a desolate tune, tugged at his coat, and tangled wayward hair strands from where they were bound at his nape.

He huddled close to a group of technical personnel carrying equipment passed the security check. Heart thumping, he was soon beyond the gate with none the wiser. The huddle of people he'd joined paused for a last look at the view before leaving the brilliant and pure unpolluted gifts of sea and sky behind. Garren's heart longed for something he couldn't define.

A preliminary base of operations was being organized within the bunkers, crammed with hastily rigged computer paraphernalia. It was a hazard to navigate in the crowded space. A harsh voice rode over the conversations of technical babble. "Recalibrate everything! Our Emperor is the only half breed dragon on the planet . It's impossible we can't pinpoint a certifiably unique sig like His."

Garren quickly crossed to the far side of the room. He crowded a technician's console, hunching over the tech to contribute his own finger typing in an effort to ascertain the best starting place for a search effort. The technician raised one eyebrow at Garren, Elf ear twitching, he relinquished the keyboard. Slouching, he sipped a carbonated beverage, "ah", so refreshing. He set it down on the console edge. Food and drink were prohibited near the equipment, a break area hadn't been set up.

"YOU THERE!" A haggard Field Operations Commander snapped his fingers at the unfamiliar figure in his midst.
    Garren ignored the snap.

"Under who's orders are you authorized to be here?" The FOC demanded, sensing a potential security snafu.
"I am unassigned," Garren faked an air of authority to which he had no claim.

"This mission is restricted to the senior ranks. We don’t have time to supervise the safety of overconfident undergraduates." The FOC puffed out his chest and pointed to the exit. "Vacate My Field of Operations!" He didn't call security, it never occurred to him his order would be disobeyed.

Garren’s stormy-gray eyes filled with defiance. "I will assist the search for Our Emperor without your by leave. I've sworn my Oath of Fealty."

The Field Operations Commander mumbled a level one Spell to amp his voice, confronting this firebrand with the combat trained physique. "The only reason I’m not having you escorted to the stasis cells is because I can’t spare the personnel power. Mark me! You’ll be brought up on charges of Contumacy!"

Garren clenched his fists. The ancient war spirit who dwelt within him, stirred. He bit his lip on the impulse to relinquish his body, that would allow Ares to rise and take control. And as he always did at facing the temptation, deeply regretted the day he'd been forced into the Shrine of Supplication. The FOC shouted more threats, unheeding, Garren ran before anyone could stop him. Knocking people out of his way. He fled down all the steps, penetrated into the Subterraneum cave system alone in the dark for loyalty to his Emperor.

The FOC rolled his eyes as he heard a male pitched Elf voice cry 'woes'. Someone had spilled a drink on a sensitive operator panel. "Someone is going to pay for my crappy day."
