...well there is also something like 16 of Lisa B's plant sets, some of Pedatron's Grass tiles, as well as a couple tree backdrops from Ecomantics.

...and Leela, but don't think she's the cause.

Well, if you're using clones and not instance, you have serious material bloat.. each entity will have it's own texture RAM (geometry is negligible).. so you could be swapping to HD and not realize it. Check the performance monitor and look at working set size.

I've seen one entity cloned turn into 30GB of texture on a 12 GB system.. swap hell.. slower than a salted slug. :blank:

...but they (the flutterbys) look so much better than using the "Swarm" option as I get none of the fringing effect that occurred with the low res versions. The final render took 3hrs and twenty one minutes, the file size in memory was 7.8 GB before rendering.

Hmm.. don't you have 16+GB on that rig? 3 hours isn't actually that bad, all things considered.. and sounds like it's worth the wait!

Saturday! Another day of 100f+ temps, so I'm going to punt going out until tomorrow and stay in all day.

Morning shopping spree - 3 albums, $5 each, off Amazon - James Brown, Rolling Stones, and Hank Williams Jr.! $15 for about 55 songs, not bad!

Ate bacon have coffee (2nd cup) so now it's time to install content, organize, and work on ZOMBIE NURSE. I'll hopefully have a WIP render in a few hours, and something almost reasonable by tomorrow evening. Initially it's a character study and once I'm modestly happy she's going to deathmatch with WAR VIXEN. :vampire:

I need to experiment with the glow shaders.. glowing eyeballs? Cool! :snake:

Time to put on my classical mix and get to work! :cheese:

?? haven't heard from Skiri since the organ wood post, mebbe the MLPs and bronies got her?

Oh! No, I was caught by a different snaggle-beast.

First, on Wed & Thursday, I was involved in making TWO HUEG CAEKS for my friend. That left me drained and exhausted and I pretty much crashed to bed after taking a shower once the job was finished.

On Friday, I had to pack up my life (read: desktop) and send it off to my in-laws.

Today, I moved there for two weeks to cat-sit, and set up a network for myself to use.

I'll try to post some cake pics when I find some.

    Oops! Caught... :red:

I'm actually happy with Zombie Nurse, so I'm moving on to merging War Vixen and Zombie Nurse into the tentacle eyeball forest. Taking a quick lunch break, then back to work!

I need this uniform, though: http://www.daz3d.com/victorian-nurse Totally non-sexy but more accurate. I'm goiing to need a nurse uniform anyway, for one of my stories. Urgh. :blank:

I am having a difficult time installing Adobe CS2. I run the installer several times and I still cannot find the installation of any of the software. I guess I would have to try to install them individually once I get those files downloaded.

If you downloaded them from the Gizmodo links you should have 4 files (CreativeSuiteCS2Disk1.exe, CreativeSuiteCS2Disk2.exe, CreativeSuiteCS2Disk3.exe and CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_1.exe). Here are the steps I used:

    1. Run CreativeSuiteCS2Disk1.exe. It will extract and then start the install process but don't click next just let it sit there for a minute.

    2. Run CreativeSuiteCS2Disk2.exe and tell it to extract to the same place you extracted Disk1 to. Do the same with CreativeSuiteCS2Disk3.exe and finally CS_2.0_WWE_Extras_1.exe.

    3. Once all of those have finished go ahead and let the installer continue and it should install.

Note: If you're running a 64bit version of Windows it will try to install them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe. This won't work since the installer doesn't recognize either the space or the ( in the directory name. You'll have to install it elsewhere. I created a C:\Apps\Adobe directory and let it install there.

Also if you're on Win7 or later the C:\Program Files directory is protected so you'll have problems with when it tries to add your serial number to the apps so it's best to install outside of that directory as well.

This is one of the problems with installing an app that's 10 years old on a more modern OS. Things have changed over the years.

Is all of that actually free, or trial? I own Photoshop CS2. Can you install just the other things? I don't want it to mess with my serial number for what I actually paid for.

At the beginning of the year Adobe decided that they didn't want to have to keep the license servers open and they weren't going to support CS2 anymore so they put out a download page where you could download the entire suite or individual apps. It's the full blown CS2 suite (or the individual apps) and not a trial.

The actual download page is no longer up but you can still directly access the files from Adobe's site. The serial number for the suite and the individual apps is one provided by Adobe and is usable by everyone.

If you already have Photoshop CS2 I'd probably leave it alone as changing the serial number could impact you if you tried to upgrade later. Though I'm not sure they'll give you a discount if you try to upgrade from CS2 to the latest version anyway.

You can still download the files and install the other apps in the suite if you wanted. Also you might want to have them in case something happens and your install disks don't work for whatever reason. Think of it as a backup.
