@Lightof Heaven, that second one looks great!

@Vyusur, that looks good enough to eat!

@Selina, using hair for tree trunks was inspired. I really like the lighting!

I haven't had much time the last couple days, but I have managed to get some stuff done. No hair or metaball objects yet, but they will be coming.

Products/Content: You can list things you built yourself or pre-made content. Links to premade DAZ content pages would be nice, but not required.

The Green Streak - 'epic,' little-known super hero!

WIP; metaball particles gizmo coming off Michael 4

Love the paint splatter effect with the metaball particles Heady

Thank you Selina , that's very kind of you. !

Here's a bit more mucking around. I put hair on an invisable plane and used the hair for the 'speed lines'

The Green Flash logo is another Michael body with an alpha map applied to his torso just to show the GF logo - notr really working at the moment. The logo is circular and saved as a png but Carrara makes it square - dont know why.

    Hey I learnt something:

I made Carrara hang when it was doiung the particles.... got impatinet clicked too many times.

On a hunch I went into my computer and renamed the file I was working on.

Then back in Carrara I hit Ctrl S - and Carrara saved the file!! even though it was hung. I like that

    Lots of great updates.

    - can't wait to see the final pastoral pond render, @Alberto.  Fluidos is amazing.

    - @Selina - selfie with a snake!  Maybe the charmer should have a flute instead of an axe?  Just kidding.  Nice to see how well the hairs hold up as the forest with the change of perspective.

    - Veronika, that looks delicious.  I can't texture metaball objects very well.  I have to convert them and then uvmap.  Please tell me you converted the metaball pie to get that luscious crust.

    - @LightofHeaven - you totally fooled me!  I was not expecting the tentacle monster from the deep.  Epic!  I like the 2nd better also, but if you want a little more light you might try a faint blue distant light.

    - @EvilProducer - thanks for posting how you developed the terrain.  Somehow, I get the feeling a legendary 1970s perfume commercial might be coming our way.  wink

    - @HeadWax - crazy good running man.  wonderful effect.  Thanks for the tip on saving files when Carrara is hung up.  Not sure I followed you but will give it a try next time.

After getting away for a while and taking a fresh look, I've decided I don't like my final Captain Sunburn render.  I will be switching it out.  Not sure how I am going to change it - maybe lighting, maybe poses, maybe camera angle, maybe get rid of the villain, or adjust the villain.  Not sure, just know I don't like it anymore.  surprise

EDIT - to add that I have modeled a couple of low res palm trees to be replicated in the distance of my hanging gardens project.  Didn't use the plant modeler, these are straight vertex models with procedural shaders - meant for the distance.

    thanks :)

@Diomede, thank you - sorry to be more explanatory (sounds like a planet)

ah Carrara Hung, i could go from room to room and the screens wouldnt refresh.

So I went to the folder with the file I was working on and renamed it.

I did that in case I screwed up the file by using Ctrl S ( I didnt even know if Ctrl S would save the file.

I went back to Carrara and used Ctrl S - it saved the File!!

I closed down Carrara an when I reopened it and reopened the saved file it worked. Normally I just loose the file because I have to shut down Carrara with task master when it hangs.

I am using Wondows ... er windows :)

Wonderful palm trees - love your modelling, your ability to do low poly yet get a great result is superbula.

    Captain Sunburn - Splitting Hairs

Rather than use Philemo's hair conversion plugin, I used the multipass volume primitive pass and did an overlay in PSE.

How good is this it captures so well the feel of old comics!

I was very impressed by Bunyip's tutorial. It stimulated me to create this image with System 46 and my custom morphing on Genesis 3 Female. I used metaballs as terrain and a hair piece with fire texture on it converted with Philemo plugin.

    Carrara native render, no postwork.

So impressive, love the Fire Texture - must have a closer squiz at it

In this case I used metaballs for pie creation. Every object in this scene was modeled and textured in Carrara. Attached are screenshots. Octane plugin render, no postwork.

One more fantastic render - so realitic - I would never have thought of using meatballs to make such a yummy pie ;)

Finally tweaked the shader for the hairy terrain to look more like a slippery muddy embankment (hairy trees follow this shader) and added a subtle water plain for interest with a Velouté gradient alpha mask to fade around edges and keep the mystery of what lies deep in the forest...

    Epic 5

Attached is my .car screen shot showing objects in scene...

Seline, not sure if I commentes on this - this has all the elements of a dream, it's wonderful in a nightmarish way - very Archetypal Jungian.

    Undine, legendary character.

First, I created a terrain with a crater

Next, copied the terrain and convert in vertex modeler, added thickness, deleted the bottom (as is selected after the thickness operation), then selected the bottom edge and filled the polygon and tesselate it. Now, it's usable for a Fluid simulation as a solid.

Next, the hair on the terrain. It will be the grass:

Some simple trees are set in the original terrain with surface replicator.

    The distribution map:

The scene with a Fluid domain, a cube was used as the mass fluid.

Added Genesis 2 Belle character as the Undine. Then ran the fluid simulation. Next, used long hair for Undine.

Added too some acuatic plants, fog, Volumetric cloud (more fog) and 3 lights: sun light (used a simple realistic sky),  LightX Dome and Area lights.

Last steps were applying shaders, adjusting lights and rendering with GI (the rendering is in process)

Thanks for your kindness Alberto, that's a terrific mini tutorial, really a valuable piece

Thank you, Diomede and Head wax!

    This is the rendered image

I used multipass rendering, for postwork with the Gimp

    Ajusted the color levels,

With the rendered maps, increased the reflection, reduced the Transparency/Refraction, increased some the Specular, and added more Shadow in left side of face of the character.

Aw man! I had this fun-sounding sime idea to use a single Carrara hair and make it super thick to use as a sort of dyamic whip, but even at 1000000 scaling it's just tiny. lojl oh well, guess it doean'td work like that.

unrelated dumb question: does using pasrsticle emtter

Yes, great wip and nice whip. Multipass is a terrfific feature.

Here's The Green Flash. Trusted by small boys and little old ladies alike...

His mother was Green Lantern, His Father The Flash. His metaballs were harmless. His hairs merely speedlines at the whim of some mad artist.

in the Guide Hairs (per hair group) select Polygon Center yes

make sure that if you make the handle out of a cylinder in the model room to select the end polygon and Tesselate Vertex to Center ... and that's it. smiley
