Time for a CPU Upgrade, AMD just launched their 64 core beast, the Threadripper 3990x for workstations. Available 7 Feb for just 3990$. https://www.anandtech.com/show/15318/amds-64core-threadripper-3990x-3990-sd A bargain since the Intel 2x28 core, dual CPU bundle is 20000$.

Get a cheap Windows tablet for Carrara and Flowscape then. The China stores have them for 200$ like CHUWI Hi10. There may be newer models with better performance though.

For VR headsets, the next gen seems to be Oculus Quest. Fully mobile powered by a phone chip, but possible to also cable connect to a PC, 2in1. Headset is available in stores, PC cables not ready yet: https://www.oculus.com/blog/play-rift-content-on-quest-with-oculus-link-available-now-in-beta/

Update, Chuwi Hi10 X now offers 6/128 memory and newer N4100 CPU for 200$, while the older models can be found cheaper. The China stores also have fanless mini PCs with the same specs and similar price. (Slow for rendering, but workable)

I really like my trusty old Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, about six years old.  Android, WIFI and with a micro SD card and a stylus pen, Its easy to use and comes with a lot of apps.  The best use I get is having Google Chrome and dozens of books to read during any long wait activities (like my wife's routine medical procedures recently).   It also does a great job with pictures on its large screen.  I don't own a smart phone, just a clamshell cell phone for ... phone calls.

well I find a smart phone near useless for anything but calls, I struggle then pressing the right tiny numbers and letters on the touchscreen with my big fat fingers.

bubble wrap apparently is a great insulator for your windows .. just cut to size, wet it then stick it on the glass.. may help in keeping the heat out @WendyLuvsCatz

Yes works the other way as well   Himself used it to insulate the greenhouses during the winter,  youn buy special clips to aid in putting it up in greenhouses.

    Major highlight of my life!

I was feeling a bit bummed yesterday when I picked up my granddaughter from school. I was dressed for the Wake for my friend and ex-singer who passed at far too early an age.

My granddaughter rounds the corner and, at her first glimpse of me she explodes in front of her friends: "Papa, that jacket (my black leather) looks Good on you! Look at you... you're Han Solo!"

    Totally made my millennium!

Sorry if this was posted on another thread, didn't know where else to post it...:

I found out Neil Peart, legendary drummer extraordinaire, has passed away.

Rush was, and still is, a huge influence on my life.
