Was looking into the Holidays we seldom follow (as they are mostly silly) but found a few I like... I almost missed that March is...
National Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Awareness Month, National Kidney Month and Youth Art Month. And holidays I like are...
YoYo and Skill Toy Weekend: 29-30 and then, Viagra Day: 27 sounds fun and so does I Am In Control Day: 30.

In April I plan on National Beer Day: 7 which happens to also be No Housework Day: 7, then we have Bugs Bunny Day: 30. I think I can manage most of these just fine...

Makes sense that "Viagra Day" should precede "I Am In Control Day". :)
...April 7th - National Beer Day, hmmm that would be on a Monday when one of the neighbourhood brew pubs has it's "cheap pints" day.

March is NCFS month? No wonder I've been so tired all these weeks.

April is also International Guitar Month, National Welding Month, and National Humor Month (hmmm sparks an idea for a pic).

The 7th is also National Carmel Popcorn Day (so you got something to munch on with your beer as Pretzel Day isn't until the 26th). It is also World Health Day, so don't imbibe too much.

The 11th is International "Louie Louie" Day.

The 15th is Rubber Eraser Day (appropriate as this is also Tax Doomsday here in the States). It is also "That Sucks Day Appropriate as well for many in the US.

The 17th is National Haiku Day as well as Blah Blah Blah Day (interesting combination)

The 20th, Well besides Easter for this year and Plum Pudding Day, being 4-20 some may know what other activity this day this celebrates.

Of course on the the day after 4-20 (21st), it's fitting we have National Surprise Drug Test Day.

For all you cat lovers, mark the 25th on your calendar as that is National Hairball Awareness Day

The 26th is Hug An Australian Day (A few here may enjoy this one) as well as Penguin Day, Eeyore's Birthday, and the aforementioned National Pretzel Day.

The month winds up on Beltaine, Walpurgis Night, and Bugs Bunny Day.

yeah, corn syurup = nasty stuff. was the main reason i started baking from scratch last year. lost 18lbs this year.

no supermarket breads, only eat home made biscuits, watching out for L-Cysteine dough conditioner. blech
avoiding canned tomato sauce and gm vegetable as much as possible.

don't wanna know what's in the SaraLee coconut cream pie >.< hopefully it's coconut and cream from fairy cows. :)

squee - new captain america comin out any day now. black widow is in it. i think.

...I stopped drinking anything that has High Fructose Corn Syrup on the ingredients list. Makes it tricky going out to eat as many places use the basic fountain mixes for soft drinks. If they have Italian Sodas (particularly made with Torani or Monin both which use cane sugar) then I'm OK. One of the other reasons I try to avoid fast food joints is all they usually have are the mainstream fountain drinks (even their lemonade and ice tea often are sweetened with Fructose), and they don't know how to make a good cup of joe.

Fortunately at the pub I prefer beer to mixed drinks and corn sweetener has no place in the brewing process. There are only a few places where I live that I would get a mixed drink at where they hand squeeze their fruit juices and use plain old sparkling water or unsweetened club soda.

One also has to watch other products than beverages, as Fructose has replaced sugar in most processed foods as well. Gave up a lot of things I liked but on occasion do buy a few of the "back to nature" brand versions, The only downside to those is they are usually more expensive. Unfortunately for bread I don't have much of a choice as I don't have the time to bake it myself and those "organic mega-multi grain" brands are not only way too heavy for my tastes (some make me feel I am eating tree bark) but also terribly overpriced.

Since I have stopped partaking in anything with corn sweetener, I too have surprisingly lost a fair amount of weight (which is a good thing for my creaky joints).

why am I even bothering trying to upgrade my 8 year old Windows XP computer? Its too slow to run all the new games, Daz Studio 4 and Luxrender.

Article about Service Pack 3 rebooting AMD processors: HP begs AMD PC owners to put XP SP3 on ice

HP has this notice on their website about my issue installing Service Pack 3:

CAUTION:If you have an HP Pavilion, HP Media Center or Compaq Presario desktop computer that has an AMD processor, your PC might encounter a startup problem after installing SP3 (or SP3 will not download from Windows Update). Before attempting to install SP3, install sp37394 - Microsoft Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility for systems with AMD processors .

I don't feel like installing more stuff onto this XP computer if support will end soon. Not Daz Soon. :D
...for myself, in this case, Daz Soon would be a blessing.

Loss of XP support is gonna mess with my work search.

...ugh, working on the weekends. Hated that when I still managed restaurants decades ago. All my friends had off and I had to work all day often both on Saturday and Sunday..

about the same here. I had my first job when I was 14 pumping gas at a gas station. Once I turned 16 I had nothing but full time jobs. All my friends were out playing football goofing off while I was at work. I'd get off school work 8hrs, come home at midnight take a shower and back up at 5:30am for school

When I graduated high school, I partied for almost a full year. I joked with my classmates that that's what I was going to do. But it turns out it was true. I was still only 17 and companies here didn't want to hire minors for full time work. There were laws against that.

Complaint: forgot how much time having a job takes out of a day, haven't had a lot of time for much of anything besides, work, and yard house work.

here's to hoping I can make some time to do more 3D or at least visit the forums.

Complaint2: I can't access DAZ forums from work.

ok I am a bit dusturbed
You have completed the Harrower-Erickson Multiple Choice Rorschach Test.

Your score is 2 of 10, meaning you selected 2 answers that are commonly given by individuals with some psychological disturbance. Harrower-Erickson (1945) used four or more poor answers as the criteria for a cognitively disturbed individual, with the note:

There is nothing absolute or final about the choice of four poor answers as the score at which to become suspicious of an individual's performance. We selected this point empirically since it seemed to be the one which caught the maximum number of persons who showed some significant disturbance in the particular group that we tested. However, if only the most disturbed individuals are to be screened out, then five poor answers or even 6 may be taken as the criterion. Similarly, if exceptionally well balanced and integrated individuals are to be selected, picking these on the basis of having no poor answers, or only one poor answer, might be useful.

I also scored a 2. Apparently most people do (see chart below).

...opposite here, two back to back long downpours today. Felt I was in the boiler room of the Titanic after the iceberg. Lots of bailing and mopping again - twice. Looked as it was going to clear up after the first tone wo went to run a couple errands. While out, the skies opened up again and when I got home the centre of the floor had a half inch of standing water and the outside stairwell was flooded again. Discovered that water is seeping in though the blocks that form the stairwell. Also the foundation of the threshold appears to have disintegrated which is probably how water is getting inside.

Landlady is very aware of this now.

Besides sealing the blocks and fixing the threshold, I am going to suggest that maybe a roof over the stairwell with a gutter and downspout leading along the foundation and driveway might not be a bad idea so the rain runs off and down to the street instead of filling up the stairwell.

Is this stairwell leading to quarters below ground level? Either way, if it is walled in somehow, proper drainage is required. No matter how much gutter is added to the roof, if the stairwell is open, water will get in. And sealing the inside of the wall (the blocks) is not sufficient, they need to be sealed on the outside, where they meet the ground, below ground level. That should have been done when the stairwell was built, of course. Now it means digging up the ground around it to be able to apply sealant. Also, there is always a certain amount of ground water that could seep up right through the concrete floor of the stairwell, and around the edge where it meets the blocks of the wall. Proper drainage and pitch (the floor should be graded downward away from the building...it is probably flat or even graded inward toward the building) would draw water away from the stairwell, rather than let it build up there. Is there a basement in this building? If so, I wonder if there is a water problem down there as well.

...ohh, and in that other March Madness.

Wisconsin advanced to the Elite Eight Thursday defeating Baylor 69 - 52 and a matchup with #1 Arizona who had a lot of trouble with San Diego State. Sparty won (barely) squeaking by #1 Virginia 61 - 59. In the upset of the day today, Kentucky came from behind to defeat #1 seed Louisville 74 - 69 knocking last year's champion out of the tournament.

On the other hand the big disappointment was Michigan narrowly escaping with a victory over Tennessee. The Volunteers (Tenn.) came back from a 15 point deficit to make it a one possession game with under less than a minute to go. They got a big break when the Michigan player who had the ball stepped out of bounds. Unfortunately as fast as things looked to have turned around to favour Tennessee, the chance for a stunning come from behind victory was taken away by a questionable "flop" by a Michigan player that resulted in an offensive foul giving Michigan the ball back with only seconds left.

Should Wisconsin advance to the Final Four tomorrow, really hoping Kentucky can pull off the win over Michigan on Sunday as the last thing I want to see is having to play another Big Ten team again. The last time Wisconsin made it to the Final Four in 2000, we ended up playing Sparty (4th meeting that year between the two teams) and they, not the Badgers, went to the Championship game..
