Morning. Sunny under a marbly blue and white sky today, all things green are standing a little taller after a half inch or so of rain the past couple of days :)

A half in in a couple of days? That's a lot for your area, isn't it? Does your area get the big wet, or is that further north?

Two days rain in a row are a lot for us yes. The Monsoon rains are heaviest a couple of thousand miles north -

but we still rely on the weather they make and the water in rivers flows south when it is on the ground so big wets are good for everyone :)

Meh forgot to turn of limits on a figure before rendering 350 test frames. That is my complaint. On the upside new Mac 12 core seems to render a tad faster than old 12 core Mac. Was pessimistic about that because all the cores are on the one processor now :)

A few turtledoves around this morning softly cooing to each other and scratching in our garden for breakfast :)

She's rather pale. On purpose? Kind of reminds me of the Superman Bizzaro world people. We haven't seen that interior for a while!

My complaint: TNT started up Major Crimes and I wasn't notified! There are already three episodes...unless that's from last season, but I don't think so. I'm off to watch the first one! Later...

OK, I watched it, but it was a repeat. It's from season 2. Up next is season 3, starting on June 9. So my complaint was not well founded. That's my new complaint! :)

    ...OK this is interesting.

    Received a Daz email announcement.

    Notice the third product listed.

Next is a screenshot of the product page after I clicked on the thumbnal

None of these products show up on the store page even though it is an hour past midnight, "Daz Time".

The Store/News Letter issue has been reported. As it is Sunday it may be some time yet before it is corrected.

Ditto, 404s on all 8 products - quite a change, usually the newsletter arrives some hours into the "day"... saw JadeRails response - so the Adventure slipped away huh? ;-)

Filter Forge Pro is the one that used to be a Photoshop plugin, but is now runnable standalone. Genetica Pro by SpiralGraphics is another (also payware - was fav of one "Manley Stanley" who used to frequent the forums), but the same company has a "Wood Workshop" that's free... there's also a "MapZone" (I think, for Windows only?) that's also based on the same fractal node-based texture generation techniques. ... oops I might be answering the wrong post >_<.</p>

My handle/user name is pronounced Jade Er Ale. I am neither green nor do I help people up and down stairs or allow trains to run on me. ;-P

But you would help someone up the stairs if they needed help, right? ;-)

...nonetheless, it still begs the question: is Daz really planning to broker FilterForge?

Got this subtle banding thing happening that comes and goes when the image is composited with a volumetric effect and not sure why waaah. Apart from that am in danger of being happy tonight, have enough beer for a week, Irish for a month and a big bright moon high in the clear north sky and don't have to work tomorrow

Put a cookie on the light in the end (you say gobo(?)) seemed to have softened the render enough to kill the banding *hopes* So that seemed to work

You will get those bands in renders with such backdrops if you alter the Levels/brightness/contrast in a photo editor too. The Daz original promos for characters also show this.

DOF can sometimes create that too in a raw render

This came and went when I comped it with a background, dunno why was using OpenEXR ARGBFP all the way, think the banding is there from the volumetric effect and needed smoothing out, I used this on the spotlight, could probably get more of a gradient into the rolloff to black :)

I suspect you were thinking of Source Forge, the place a lot of open-source software is found.

And GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Had a spam email from myself this morning, someone had gained access to my Hotmail account and kept sending the same few-words-plus-link-to-harvesting-site emails to the same people, including one of my other accounts. Apparently changing the password wasn't enough to stop them, but clicking the This was not me in the Recent Activity list seems to have blocked them. Looks like they gained access while i was off-line, which is half-reassuring (I don't think I've fallen for any fishing emails) and half not (it wasn't an especially weak password). At least the other emails they spammed were dead ones.

That might be the results of that Heartbleed bug in OpenSSL. Yahoo and Hotmail were vulnerable to it. Everybody said, "we weren't hacked" but the fact of the matter is, there's no way to tell.

Sounds somewhat plausible given the timing - and a relief, though having run two scans in safe mode I thought I was probably clean here.
