The Store/News Letter issue has been reported. As it is Sunday it may be some time yet before it is corrected.

It doesn't need correction, it was intentional. Daz is drumming up interest in items that will be released tomorrow, and the purchase of which will give a 10% discount (15% with 2) on the Giselle 6 Pro Bundle due for release later this week.

...still experiencing extremely sluggish response just with the Daz site (Forums and Store). Spent nearly fifteen minutes waiting for the page to refresh and sign on to work before I could even start this. It is making me feel I am back on my old unstable wireless plan than high speed broadband.

Before it is even asked, yes, I cleared my cache & such.

When I first came to this page, all the banners had the "broken graphic" symbol.

After I clicked "login", there was a long wait only to receive a "reset" error message.

I backed up and tried again I finally got the sign in page after nearly five minutes of waiting. I clicked the "Login" button only to first wait, and then find myself back to the sign in page, not the thread. After clicking the "Login" button the second time waited another 4- 5 minutes and finally was signed in.

I have no issue pulling up other websites as they loaded almost instantly including those heavy with detailed pages/animations as well as overseas news source sites.

This is making me feel I am hitting some sort of flaky node either at the CloudFlare or the Daz Server source.

I am running FF 28.0 which I've been using for the last couple months with no issue until these last couple days.

Try removing all DAZ cookies and then letting them rebuild themselves. Also clear cache. Restart your browser after doing this and try again.

...as I mentioned I already did the first two. Just shut down FF and restarted it, however pages are still taking an extremely long time to load and refresh.

Traffic and Police choppers buzzing the hood like angry iron insects so is hard to escape. Catching some rays in our garden right now, noise is hard to ignore. That is my complaint.

And GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Had a spam email from myself this morning, someone had gained access to my Hotmail account and kept sending the same few-words-plus-link-to-harvesting-site emails to the same people, including one of my other accounts. Apparently changing the password wasn't enough to stop them, but clicking the This was not me in the Recent Activity list seems to have blocked them. Looks like they gained access while i was off-line, which is half-reassuring (I don't think I've fallen for any fishing emails) and half not (it wasn't an especially weak password). At least the other emails they spammed were dead ones.

That might be the results of that Heartbleed bug in OpenSSL. Yahoo and Hotmail were vulnerable to it. Everybody said, "we weren't hacked" but the fact of the matter is, there's no way to tell.

    Dana

Sounds somewhat plausible given the timing - and a relief, though having run two scans in safe mode I thought I was probably clean here.

Perhaps a spammer address spoofing an open mail relay might be to blame instead ?

Learning my way around Zbrush. Getting comfortable with the navigation and controls and whatnot. No actual sculpting yet, unless you count hand-painting a ton of veins and folds and wrinkles onto a sphere as sculpting :)

One of my friends is a big Blender user, very enthusiastic about 3D and Flash and game design, but I find it hard to actually discuss 3D with him. He seems... Almost against the very aspect of closed-source programs, though he denies this. The conversations invariably turn around to why he prefers Blender (And in a few cases I do agree with him), the most recent point being "What if the company changes their save file format and you lose all access to your project in an update?"

Well no amount of explaining ever convinced him. He kept holding on to "open source you can edit it to fix it, closed source you're screwed". Problem with his logic was that he admits himself to holding on to several copies of Blender BECAUSE newer versions screwed up things he used often - be they plugins or just awful menu navigation - which is also what companies and even hobbyists do with their programs: Keep each version just in case something goes wrong. Heck, the admin of the C4DCafe (3DKiwi :3 ) stated he's got each version of C4D since version 4.0 o_o

MAXON's always been very careful to maintain backwards compatibility (heck, R13 can load R15 files just fine! Forward compatibility? Heh), and has rarely done anything to literally break a file. Even in R12 with the full removal of Bones in favor of Joints, they had a snippet of code that would automatically replace Bones from older save files with the newer Joints upon loading. They did remove the Muscle system in R12 as well, but my point about having a separate version still stands. Even if you updated your version, you'd still have access to the previous one. Unless you sold that license, which is uncommon anyway.

It just seems he's more against closed-source itself than the actual programs themselves sometimes.

Apple software, think FC Pro might be the most complained about software in the known universe, a few years ago there was a petition demanding Apple give up their copyright in versions up to 7 in favour of a Gnu Public License release. Editors sure are a grumpy mob

Close enough, they both start with an 'A' :smirk:

Heh, Petitions don't seem to do snot. Especially when they're aimed at larger companies. A small independent developer might fold to one (But then again, they're more likely to openly listen to suggestions and complaints anyway) but you'd have better luck getting gravity to stop working than have Apple or Ubisoft or Activision do what you want. *Waits for someone to prove me wrong*

I finally found an email address for the artist who made the character Isabella. I'm going to send him or her a message saying that pz2 file has hard-coded references to the files.

edit: hopefully the email address still works.

Should be interesting to see how they implement that when they do the movie, if they even put it in there. As far as I know they are working on a Justice League movie.

Just watched Man of Steel last night. Pretty good. Next one will also feature Batman. so...World's Finest. I guess they're building up to the Justice League.
