More great renders. Isikol, you always set a standard that gets noticed. Gorgeous work there and I'm so glad to hear that the Dragon plays nicely in Poser. Very nice Iv426 and Scorpio. I'm in love with your render. It's just so darned CUTE!
MAN, I haven't seen the servers this bogged in a long time. Must be a really successful release. I kept getting errors when just trying to refresh a page in the store.... Seems better now.
It took me a while to figure out just what was bothering me so much about this new version. It's the wing membranes. They look like an afterthought almost, as if not even attached to the dragon.
They look attached, but I'll admit, after purchasing it yesterday and doing some experimental renders, there's an uncanny valley effect with the wing membranes which it has... It might be to do with the base model's texture.
Anyone planning to create some assorted different geo-grafted dorsal spine styles? Different styles of spikes or fins for the tail (or even pincers, if you want to recreate the film 'Dragonheart')?
Would also be interested in geo-grafted additional tails/heads/limbs, if anyone was planning something inspired by Tiamat, from the eighties 'Dungeons And Dragons' cartoon.
Inane Glory's 'Draconis Borealis Maximus' texture set intrigues me, but I haven't got the UberSurface2 Layered Shader it states it requires... Has anyone tried what it looks like without that?
Check out this product. Not exactly what you might have in mind but there are back and neck spikes. Design Anvil, in my opinion, is one of the top Dragon merchants out there and has a very good perspective on how one should look!

I saw that, but it's geo-grafted and I don't always have good luck with geo-grafted parts. I do animation and render through Reality/Lux and sometimes there are fit issues. But before I'd consider buying, I'd want to make sure the lip sync works in mimic.
I could always make my own spike or spike morphs too, I guess. As long as the base mesh is good. I suck at rigging, but I can model.
Basically, I'm working on a short film this summer that has a talking dragon in it. I've already started using the subdragon, but if the Dragon 3 mesh were a big enough improvement, I'd consider switching over as long as I could get a similar look.
Having some fun underwater with the Mythic Beasts morphs, a Creatures of Legend texture, and our Mermaid G2F. Props are by Orestes (coral etc.) and Marshian.
Rendering with nothing but Advanced lights - whether spot, distant or ambient - makes in-engine effects much faster to render with layered transparencies, making the godrays etc. feasible. Minor postwork for focus effects.
Oh, yes, you're right... I'm curious to see what the non-Uber2 versions of that set looks like.
Here's a couple of samples of both Daz Default and UberSurface2 versions. I included both versions because each one has it's own unique style. The basic idea behind these skins was to create a more eclectic fantasy feeling dragon. To that effect the default version is very bold, heavily saturated and in your face while the UberSurface2 versions are a bit more subdued. Personally I really like both versions. If I recall correctly to avoid confusion all the promos where done using the UberSurface2 versions. Not sure why Daz stuck the 'must have UberSurface2 to use this product' sticker on it as it is a perfectly useable product even if you don't have UberSurface2, you just have more options if you do. Options not everyone is going to want, need or desire.
Ah, thank you for the contrasts! That makes it much clearer, yes... While both options are nice, I believe I'd be more likely to need the richer/darker variation of the base shader, going by these. So, shall be purchasing without reservation. :)
Interesting to know Daz are the ones responsible for putting those 'this product requires' things on product pages.
Ok, Here's my first 18 hour playthrough of the new Dragon, and... and I'm pretty impressed with the amount of creatures that can be created from it. I have so many offshoot ideas I wanted to take while morphing these guys. So anyway, whether or now anymore can be done to this piece I'm calling it quits and moving on to the next one.
PS... No actual horses were harmed in the making of this scene.

The Fire Drake attachments are conforming clothing basically, not geografts. They work fine with Reality/LuxRender a very quick render below in Reality 2.5 only slight mat tweaks of the DA Fire Drake.
Morphing out spikes from the base mesh would need quite a bit of UV map & texture editing to avoid texture stretching but it could be done that way.
Thanks for the plug and kind words too Ram :) Some epic renders to! keep them coming!
Awwwww, cute! :)
I'd love to see a version of that with her looking all miffed, hands on hips and covered in ash, and the dwaggie looking aguilty, with wisps of smoke coming from his nostrils ;)
*WHEW* Glad there are others that think that too. Give me skinny spine thingie's..... Uh.. OK now! ;-)~
While actually designed to thicken the spines and limbs, you can dial the "Wings Limb Thickness" in my DAZ Dragon 3 Wing Membrane Expansion to a negative value to make thinner spines.

Wow, this is epically awesome. Both dragons are very cool, but I love the little guy. Very mean looking (in a good way).

LOVE it. :D Gorgeous colouring and lighting....if that was a book cover, I'd be picking it up to read it. :D
:) thank you! Great compliment!
Loving this set so far.

From what I can see in the set there are 2 versions, one for Uber 2 and 1 for the default Daz shaders, so the Uber2 isn't totally necessary.
Oh, yes, you're right... I'm curious to see what the non-Uber2 versions of that set looks like.
Since it has visemes included, does it work with mimic? Has anyone tried that out?
The thing that bothers me most is the lack of a nice set of neck/back/shoulder spike morphs.
For example, I use this on the sub-dragon. http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/es_pictures/1533569/103062/103062_original.jpg

This is one of the textures from Inane Glory's set, wonderful textures.
May I play too? :)
Is that without the Uber 2 thing applied? It looks pretty much identical to the examples on the sale page.

Its the Uber 2 one I'll try to get one done using the DS default.

Not as delightfully dynamic as most of the wonderful renders here, but I like my simple hatchling and want to visit his world. Cheers.
Run Polar Bambi Run!!
I really do think this is the best dragon yet,
Awwwww, cute! :)

OMG! I love this. Just laughed out loud so now everyone in my office knows I'm not working. Great concept and image.

does he/she have ears? or in an add-on?
i thought i saw ears, but i think maybe it was horns
