I wonder if I should bother with Advanced Distant Light, or get UE2 and some expansions. Le sigh.

So little money, so many add-ons... :long:

PA sale should start in a couple months. it kinda started as a fiasco last year. hoping it returns to it's former awesomeness this year.

i don't have Stephanie5, how did that happen?

usually i have one big ticket item to wait on the sale for, don't have one this year. maybe a first bastion bundle. can't go wrong with that stuff.

    how high is your ceiling?

Currently at 42,000 feet. We should be arriving at our destination in about three and a half hours. You may now unbuckle your safety harness and move freely about the cabin.

    how high is your ceiling?

About eight foot up. Except where the ceiling tile is falling, then it's at about six foot or so.

...The advance lights put less of a strain on the system while rendering. You don't get GI or IBL, but they are more versatile as you can flag different surfaces for different lighting effects. They also work well with AoA's SSS shaders including the basic one that is free.

I would go for all three: the Ambient, Distant and Spotlight.

If you have seen most of the pics I have done recently, all use the Advanced lights. I also often substitute the Advanced Ambient for the UE component in most of the commercial lighting sets I use..

...apologies for the spam attack but things are going slow today because some stupid background process that keeps hammering the CPU and hard drive and slowing everything down. I pretty much narrowed it down to something called ccvdhst.exe but not sure what would happen if I ended the process.

Been going on for a while now and getting really annoying.

Great recommendation - now at the top of my wishlist! Probably get 'em when I get home tonight. I'm a big fan of controllable lighting. :)

Right character, wrong show. This is "Soap". "Benson" was a "spin-off".

ETA: Sorry, that came out a lot more "one-up" than I meant for it to be.

...ended up rebooting the system and that appears to have shut down whatever process was running.

Oh for 90$ and a tech savvy person to update my notebook to Win7 where I can simply stop a background process from running if it gets annoying rather than ending it..

    It's hot!

Well, okay, it hasn't been 90 yet this week. But it's really hot for the Seattle area! It's like 84 outside! I'm huddled by the portable air conditioner, which is the size of R2D2 and louder than my computer fans, if you can imagine such a thing.
