Actually, I'm not going fully Poser... which is why I don't use an automated system designed for Poser either. Each program has tools that are good for some things I want/need to do that the other doesn't. Bryce is actually in the mix as well, and Studio plays better with Bryce. But each of the programs has strengths and weaknesses, so I need a system that works for all of them, not the One True Way (TM) for one program. I tend to reject OTW solutions as lacking flexibility.

Well, okay, it hasn't been 90 yet this week. But it's really hot for the Seattle area! It's like 84 outside! I'm huddled by the portable air conditioner, which is the size of R2D2 and louder than my computer fans, if you can imagine such a thing.

So you're another Seattleite? Or somewhere nearby?

    Northwards, yep!

Ah, I'm just a bit north of the main campus of what KK would probably call the 'other UW'.

And none of that really helps when you lose the main and backup drives in a couple-day span. I was down to the emergency reserve backup, which had been in storage for a while. All scene files, data files, etc. out of date. And, once more, any Studio-oriented system is going to mean Jack when I switch to Poser for its toolset. So I'll stick with a hand-constructed, no-automation system that puts things where I can find them in either program.
Was just trying to help, I had no idea before now you planned to go fully Poser. The DS method so gonna help zero with that.
...I ended up rolling back to the old CMS just so I could find things in the products & categories again because of the lack of a standard file naming convention. Even with the conversion utility, Postegre would only show new content I had installed after I switched DBs.

So little money, so many add-ons... :long:

If you always GC @ 2.2 you won't need any add on lights and render times will reduce, even if you only use distant/parallel rays - but you use a mix of distant and spots and points for contrast goodness hey

...couldn't watch it because the feed kept freezing up due of that background process that kept hogging my HD and CPU resources. Kept stopping every couple seconds making it look like a bad web cam video.

There was some kind of overlay at the start but it goes away after a while :)

Those are usually ads and you can usually close them by hovering over it and seeing where the "X" is (normally upper right) and clicking the "X". You will see a vertical line on the timeline (red progress bar) that's usually yellow (I have seen other colors now and then), and you know there will be something that will pop up when the moving "you are here" line hits the yellow line.

...finally was able to view the video. Indeed very impressive. Liked the full demo with actual airshow announcer better.

Amazing how quiet it is for such a large aircraft. I remember the old 727s (which were about half the size with engines producing 1/3 the thrust) creating an ear splitting rumble when they took off (and Eastern Airlines used to call them "Whisperjets" - of course back then, they were quiet compared to the old DC-8s, 707s and Convair 880s/990s). Engine technology has certainly come a long way since then.

Still the oddest sounding planes were the first generation 747s with that distinctive "buzz" they made when taking off.

...and speaking of odd sounding aircraft here is an Antonov 70 which uses counter rotating unducted fans. The Russian designers seemed to have a hing for counter rotating props as several of their older big planes like the Tu-95 and Antonov AN-22 use them.

I think some of the recent crashes could have been avoided with such responsiveness. There have been a few that went off the runway and crashed. It would help with some of the close calls with landing craft having to pull up because another was crossing the runway.

    Glad you liked it.

...fly by wire does have it's merits but you still need a good backup and the means to use it.

I'm still nervous about the new Airbus planes as all they have is a game style joystick and a what amounts to a notebook computer keyboard with touch pad for the controls.

    Fig 1. Boeing 787-9

Fig 2. Airbus A330 (this will pretty much be the same configuration for the A-350 which is the 787-9's rival)

Note the two tinted "visors" in the 787 flight deck an the HUD system.

(stupid software flipped the order of the images).

How many times in one year do you have to have acute bronchitis before you can call it chronic bronchitis?
Yes, I have it again. This makes #4. (cough)

heh - you ought to model it (and a few other portable/window style)!!

not enough models out there for our everyday redneck renders!

... I think I still have my redneck planter and house-trailer somewhere... but really needs a window unit!... a few half-tires (painted white - flaking of course) for 'trim' on the planters or drive-way... a decent El Camino (with up on bricks / parted options), a beer-can (empties) mobile/wind-chime...

... you know; home furnishings! :cheese:

oh! And someone needs to do a decent 'mullet' hair style that either comes with or works with a baseball cap! (cap needs a curled bill - all the ones out there are far too straight for any self-respecting trailer-park resident or redneck)

A white T-Shirt with a "cigarette pack rolled up in the sleeve" morph!
Jeans with a Skoal (or Copenhaegen) morph/worn-spot on the hip pocket...

I think you've pretty much nailed it.

... that sounds perverted... and probably an illegal act in most states! ;-)

    "Where's junior?", asks Mom

"Oh, he's in his room 'hugging his trout' again...", his older sister quips.

"LeeAnn!!!", Mom squeals in almost outrage (and fighting giggles).

Hee hee! I do believe you've invented a new euphemism! :snake:
