    Caturday Eve Complaints.

--Spent a good portion of my day travelling around town to pick up my paycheque, then to the bank, then getting lunch and doing a little shopping on the way home.
    --Joints aching fiercely
--Was rained on most of the day.
--had to deal with a terribly overcrowded bus in the middle of the day which I found highly unusual.
--Lunch didn't quite agree with me

    Non Complaints:

--Picked up some Ginger Beer on the way home which helped a lot.
    --Has decent account balance
--Made first content purchase in over a month (several PC items during the PC sale)
--Surprisingly made decent bus connections for once, never waited for more than ten minutes. On a couple occasions stepped off one bus and the one I needed to connect to was there waiting.
--Nice weekend weather in store, low 70s and sunny.

    ginger beer!

... it is continually amazing to me how incredibly good certain music/artists can be. Not just the skill or talent (not that certain individuals are not amazing in their own rights) of an individual or group, but when all the things 'hit' or come together in the right way... and creates something truly timeless.

Dug out some of my Pink Floyd albums... and they can still emote and carry me away after all these decades (and changes in life).

There were and are some awe inspiring musicians out there... and those that may be considered 'better' (talent or skill or whatever opinion you want), but I think Pink Floyd is the best at putting an *album* together - everything works, builds, moves as one entity with its own identity. And they did it repeatedly (which is why I say they are the best), not just with one or two albums. I can't think of another artist, composer, or group that was able to do that with the same consistency even spanning genres and time (I mean, I love classical and you can't really contest the legendary status of those men - but none of them were even as consistently good/awesome as Pink Floyd).

Or I guess it could be the codine I am taking for my shoulder! (not really, I haven't had to take any yet today, but was too funny not to say)

Boston, more than a feeling, still makes me cosmically drift

i'm having last minute jitters about putting tentacles graphic on my book cover. maybe i should put a nice flock of aiko3 faeries

Is this a book cover that's going to be the first thing you see when browsing? ... if so, what sort of audience do you want to attract? ... and, for those who are tentacularly inclined, are they going to be disappointed, or happy? for those who are fae-inclined, will _they_ be happier? book covers are very important things (a bit like "first impression" in an interview, as KK could no doubt attest) - imho they should help give a first impression of what's inside the book (so that prospective readers know whether to go beyond the cover to read the blurb, or the preview, or just to pass over it). My $0.02c as a book buyer, of course <(^_^).</div>

those are the hard questions keeping me awake on the bus :shut:

maybe a mocha frap will open my consiousness to the verse and vision for a cover art will come :)
right now it's gianni, fresh tentacles and the classic hip pose

Are there tentacles in the story? And are they a major part of the story? Or a defining moment in a character's life? If you answered no to all these questions...no tentacles on the cover!

    Dana

hmmm, it could be more defining.

so glad no more typewriter, white out, carbon paper , crankin the roller back every sentence.

feathers and ink dipping, tee hee.

why do i crave chocolate milk whenever i run out of milk ? doh.

hmm, can't resist steampunk streets, a lil wall mould could be a kewl tunnel to the swamp realm.
thinking of doing one of those temporal differential things. so like, one day in the swamp realm is one hour in the seasonal realm.
he could be stuck in the kracken's lair for a month before people back home notices he's missing

Smilies don't work. I think an addon is blocking the script for the smilies. ok, time to do some chores.

Smileys are on in your profile (we had problems a while back when they weren't for some users, even though the preference isn't - or wasn't - visible).

Took Thursday and Friday off from work and from thread, so only briefly skimmed the last several pages. I'll be praying that KK gets the job, glad that Wooly's coffee maker came in, Glad Gecko's sister is alright (and yes, Dish suck as my Father found out when he moved to his new house- he dumped them after they throttled his net access) Hope Kuley's shoulder gets better soon.

Last night, Fiance took me to the Lexington for their Haunted Tour:

    http://usslexington.com/haunting-on-the-blue-ghost/

And it was creepy! I went in, fully expecting costume people jumping out at me and stuff but what I didn't count on was navigating the maze with strobe lights and trying to step through bulkhead doors, amongst all the banging of metal. At one point, the floor would rock while walking and that freaked me out more than anything. I had my hands on Fiance's shoulder and back cause I was having trouble seeing with the strobe lights.

At some point, I want to take the real tour of the Lex - it's been a decade since I last went, but I think I will wait a bit

...whoa, a haunted flat top? Now that sounds cool.

...well Saturday morning has arrived. Feeling much better than yesterday.

Sun trying to burn off the morning clouds but not dong a good job of it. Really not looking forward to more grey skies and rain.

Found a Claymore Freebie for my Margo Grande scene, Still looking for an "express" big game rifle (preferably free). Unlike Sci-Fi and Steampunk firearms, substituting a different historical one (like a Winchester or a Mossberg shotgun) just doesn't work as they are too recognisable. Too bad they vaulted all the old freebies for I think there may have been one in one of Questar's firearms sets.

I see what you mean. The Sun is so distant, you don't get that kind of divergence (convergence?). But I don't think that's easy to overcome in 3D software. In my (little) experience, the DS distant light will work properly for the shadow, but is a bit too much for sunset light.

Or maybe I'm totally wrong about the shadows. :blank:

I love the Lex. A very dear friend (ex-fiance) served on her. Whenever we would go aboard, he was piped and announced as a VIP. They would let him take us to the non-public innards to show us where he lived, etc. Very cool. My grandson's Cub Scout pack spent a weekend on her. I would love to take the Haunted Tour and also spend July 4 on deck.

    The Lex???

Never mind, I clicked the link and figured it out.

I thought I just saw an announcement the other day about them being back up, not on this site, but somewhere with permission. I forget exactly where, but if you look in the General Freepozitory, you might find the topic I read.

I somehow doubt that Questor's freebies would be back up anywhere, given what he said on the forum a couple of years back
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/3092/P15/#126870 particularly this part

It is unlikely that I would agree to the guns being hosted here at Daz again simply because they are very old. The mapping on them is beneath basic and the mesh quality isn’t that great either.

The thread I was reading was here, and I don't think it's the same freebies I was talking about. I have just about all of them, though, I think. Some of them look like they'd still work well in a scene. Some might just need updated textures to look better. Too bad DAZ has never put them back up somewhere. They're not huge files, it wouldn't be very much of a hit in server space or bandwidth.

Yes is much more pronounced with a point light, not sure what the "best" approach might be, perhaps some light emitting geometry...

It would seem that those shadows are a bit mysterious, too. That is a hill, grading downward in the viewer's direction. Yet there are shadows and light all the way to the crest of the hill. But there is no sun in the visible sky. If it's below the horizon, then there should be shadow from the hill engulfing the area.

I haven't done anything with IDL or HDRI, but maybe one of those would be your solution?

It's OK with me! But that shouldn't matter to you...do what you want, not what others want you to do.
