... it is continually amazing to me how incredibly good certain music/artists can be. Not just the skill or talent (not that certain individuals are not amazing in their own rights) of an individual or group, but when all the things 'hit' or come together in the right way... and creates something truly timeless.

Dug out some of my Pink Floyd albums... and they can still emote and carry me away after all these decades (and changes in life).

There were and are some awe inspiring musicians out there... and those that may be considered 'better' (talent or skill or whatever opinion you want), but I think Pink Floyd is the best at putting an *album* together - everything works, builds, moves as one entity with its own identity. And they did it repeatedly (which is why I say they are the best), not just with one or two albums. I can't think of another artist, composer, or group that was able to do that with the same consistency even spanning genres and time (I mean, I love classical and you can't really contest the legendary status of those men - but none of them were even as consistently good/awesome as Pink Floyd).

Or I guess it could be the codine I am taking for my shoulder! (not really, I haven't had to take any yet today, but was too funny not to say)

...well just got news from a friend a few minutes ago about an account manager position (something I have more than a decade of experience in) with an eco-print shop here in town. Nice thing, not very far away so definitely in bike distance. Submitted resume so should hear back in a day or so.

I'll keep good thoughts for you and this job.

...thank you all for the kind words of support. Should hear soon if i will be interviewed.

    Caturday Eve Complaints.

--Spent a good portion of my day travelling around town to pick up my paycheque, then to the bank, then getting lunch and doing a little shopping on the way home.
    --Joints aching fiercely
--Was rained on most of the day.
--had to deal with a terribly overcrowded bus in the middle of the day which I found highly unusual.
--Lunch didn't quite agree with me

    Non Complaints:

--Picked up some Ginger Beer on the way home which helped a lot.
    --Has decent account balance
--Made first content purchase in over a month (several PC items during the PC sale)
--Surprisingly made decent bus connections for once, never waited for more than ten minutes. On a couple occasions stepped off one bus and the one I needed to connect to was there waiting.
--Nice weekend weather in store, low 70s and sunny.

Maybe somebody in the bus company was reading your complaints. Internet stuff spreads fast, maybe they want to get ahead of that storm.

Good luck with the job, it sounds like a much better fit for you, anyway. And it's closer.

heh, you have NO idea how I envy you - I have (despite NUMEROUS attempts) never been able to learn an instrument (and the less said about my singing, the better) much less actually *play* a musical piece. for some reason it just didn't 'compute' for me - was like a monkey with a math problem. I can't identify the beat, nor the timing of a piece, nor carry a tune (in a bucket, with handles, directions engraved on the side, and someone to help!)... yet I *love* music - always have since I was an infant. It has always frustrated me...

    oh, back btw ;)

my sister's surgery went *very* well - and even better it turned out the 'mass' was NOT cancer!!! Just some gland that develops in a fetus and is usually reabsorbed when you are a toddler that rarely just hangs around; so while very uncommon and a bit weird (which sums up a LOT about my sister, come to think of it!) it is perfectly normal / healthy and no worries.

the family is (of course) incredibly relieved.

house/pet sitting while she was in the hospital was... interesting:
    * her small dog (Pomeranian mix) will jump up on top of you when you lie down to sleep and sleep there...
    * two of her cats will do the same (though not at the same time, thankfully)... the other cat is (also thankfully) skittish around strangers and left me alone
    * my sister needs to clean out her fridge more often - I can not think of ANY circumstances where it is acceptable for jelly to smell like rotten milk and vinegar! (and don't try to tell me it 'suddenly' went bad... that bioweapon took TIME)
    * DirectTV/dish sucks... oh, it has (as the commercials say) unparalleled clarity - that static was so crisp and grainy you actually felt like you had eyefuls of sand! Well, when it wasn't losing signal and doing that digital smear - but even then those little squares were sharp enough to slice your retinas! And the customer service/tech support! Not to bother or burden you with having to deal with a person or call, it has it BUILT in to the unit - with such helpful tips as "there may be a problem with your satellite dish" and '... on 'rare' occasions the signal to your dish may be interrupted by rain, snow, clouds, gentle breezes, sunlight, birds flying over and gnats mating.' Of course, they also provide technical support through their web site if those somehow do not satisfy - which would be great except that, since you get your Internet access *through* the same system, you can't GET to the Internet.

... in short (too late, I know), if you want some good, uninterrupted quiet time to read a good book or three, get DirectTV!

That is good to hear. I got satellite TV at our house, it stops working when it rains, doesn't really matter cos it doesn't rain much  DirecTV came here as SelecTV, it struggled and got swallowed up by a junior network a few years ago :)

Took Thursday and Friday off from work and from thread, so only briefly skimmed the last several pages. I'll be praying that KK gets the job, glad that Wooly's coffee maker came in, Glad Gecko's sister is alright (and yes, Dish suck as my Father found out when he moved to his new house- he dumped them after they throttled his net access) Hope Kuley's shoulder gets better soon.

Last night, Fiance took me to the Lexington for their Haunted Tour:

    http://usslexington.com/haunting-on-the-blue-ghost/

And it was creepy! I went in, fully expecting costume people jumping out at me and stuff but what I didn't count on was navigating the maze with strobe lights and trying to step through bulkhead doors, amongst all the banging of metal. At one point, the floor would rock while walking and that freaked me out more than anything. I had my hands on Fiance's shoulder and back cause I was having trouble seeing with the strobe lights.

At some point, I want to take the real tour of the Lex - it's been a decade since I last went, but I think I will wait a bit

I just made my first home-made cup of coffee in ages.. and..

OMG OMG :ahhh: :ahhh: It's FANTASTIC! :cheese: :cheese:

Velton's Twilight Blend.. smooth, aromatic, almost no acidity and very slightly bitter.. this coffee is amazing!!

Thanks AGAIN to KK for pointing this stuff out - the whole affair will easily fit in my rolling duffell bag, so I'll never have to be de-caffienated again! :P

Festival opens at 11AM, will call a cab about 10:30AM or so.. I want to arrive early, because I expect I'll burn out from the crowds pretty early.

I love the Lex. A very dear friend (ex-fiance) served on her. Whenever we would go aboard, he was piped and announced as a VIP. They would let him take us to the non-public innards to show us where he lived, etc. Very cool. My grandson's Cub Scout pack spent a weekend on her. I would love to take the Haunted Tour and also spend July 4 on deck.
