ALso got an "oops we screwed up" email from SCG customer service. They fixed their records now. Ugh.

Is this a book cover that's going to be the first thing you see when browsing? ... if so, what sort of audience do you want to attract? ... and, for those who are tentacularly inclined, are they going to be disappointed, or happy? for those who are fae-inclined, will _they_ be happier? book covers are very important things (a bit like "first impression" in an interview, as KK could no doubt attest) - imho they should help give a first impression of what's inside the book (so that prospective readers know whether to go beyond the cover to read the blurb, or the preview, or just to pass over it). My $0.02c as a book buyer, of course <(^_^).</p>

    oh, back btw ;)

my sister's surgery went *very* well - and even better it turned out the 'mass' was NOT cancer!!! Just some gland that develops in a fetus and is usually reabsorbed when you are a toddler that rarely just hangs around; so while very uncommon and a bit weird (which sums up a LOT about my sister, come to think of it!) it is perfectly normal / healthy and no worries.

the family is (of course) incredibly relieved.

house/pet sitting while she was in the hospital was... interesting:
    * her small dog (Pomeranian mix) will jump up on top of you when you lie down to sleep and sleep there...
    * two of her cats will do the same (though not at the same time, thankfully)... the other cat is (also thankfully) skittish around strangers and left me alone
    * my sister needs to clean out her fridge more often - I can not think of ANY circumstances where it is acceptable for jelly to smell like rotten milk and vinegar! (and don't try to tell me it 'suddenly' went bad... that bioweapon took TIME)
    * DirectTV/dish sucks... oh, it has (as the commercials say) unparalleled clarity - that static was so crisp and grainy you actually felt like you had eyefuls of sand! Well, when it wasn't losing signal and doing that digital smear - but even then those little squares were sharp enough to slice your retinas! And the customer service/tech support! Not to bother or burden you with having to deal with a person or call, it has it BUILT in to the unit - with such helpful tips as "there may be a problem with your satellite dish" and '... on 'rare' occasions the signal to your dish may be interrupted by rain, snow, clouds, gentle breezes, sunlight, birds flying over and gnats mating.' Of course, they also provide technical support through their web site if those somehow do not satisfy - which would be great except that, since you get your Internet access *through* the same system, you can't GET to the Internet.

... in short (too late, I know), if you want some good, uninterrupted quiet time to read a good book or three, get DirectTV!

They try to convert me now and then...it's a joke. My neighbors had DirectTV when I moved here. They dumped it and got Comcast after I moved in and they saw the difference. They were always having trouble with it.

Are there tentacles in the story? And are they a major part of the story? Or a defining moment in a character's life? If you answered no to all these questions...no tentacles on the cover!

Hmm... apparently RDNA has a new little app with their new site: I had looked at some things I was pondering picking up (especially with the Halloween sale) and had left them in my cart a while back. Just got an email 'reminding' me I had left items in my cart... so I didn't 'miss out' on the sale items - and with a nice, special coupon code to sweeten the deal!

What can I say, it worked! I went and they got my money and I feel good about it! (amazing how that works sometimes)

I am sure it won't do that all the time, but that is a GREAT marketing tool for them. Probably nudges a lot of 'fence-sitters' over to the 'buying' side.

... also nice to see I was not the ONLY one to pass my Marketing classes!! With some of the commercials you see/hear and some of the popular business practices, I really wonder sometimes.
