Wow, Forest River Bridge is a steal at 10.00   Look at everything that comes with it!!!  It's not just the bridge, you get the entire scene!  The cheapest it's been is 14.98

Also grabbing Island Hut. Would make a fun treehouse.

If you haven't seen Charlie's Portrait of a Mother, you should visit the gallery and give it some love :)  It won the first half of August PC+ render contest. First place, congratulations Charlie!!!

Thanks Novica. I retitled it A Mother's Love for the contest but it is the same render as  Portrait of a Mother in my gallery.

Oh no, Hurricane Ida is a CATEGORY 4 with  130mph winds, and still strengthening, even though they had lowered the prediction to a Category 2, 115mph winds. The millibars have dropped SIX in the past HOUR. (2:30am Central.)   If you're in Louisiana and western Mississippi, we are thinking about you!!!  Rains will hit here around 4:30am, an hour and a half from now. It was really nice out in the back yard a few minutes ago, (3am)  the winds are balmy and you can eerily tell something is coming but not in a threatening way for here. (Pensacola)

4am now up to 140 mph

Edit: 4:56 now 145mph and still strengthening.
    Edit: 6am now 150 mph
6:35am  Bay St Louis LA has the first tornado warning. Pensacola is in the watch area (nothing unusual about that.)

Yes, it looks very strong. I'm far away from it but the path they have drawn comes straight to my door. It feels like Sep 2008 all over again. This time though any big fallen trees, except for a huge buckeye, aren't a danger to fall on my house. I guess I should get the lawn mowed today though as it looks like it might be problematic tomorrow when that hurricane's left overs gets here.

    Careful!

ATM they are saying it could be a Cat 5 when it makes landfall. It's gonna end up being woise than Katria and kill a lot a lot of people who refused to evacuate.

Heads up: a bunch of good deals on bundles today & if you dabble in 3D game making as a hobby then there are quite a few bundles that are good for that too. Like the Father's Day bundle has a bit of sports equipment with it and the Barracks Bundle has unsurprisingly, a good old fashioned barracks model. Actually, it's still modern too those types of barracks for anyone making games.

I got those two bundles for $26 total today. There are others too but I had some of them on release already.

From the Barracks Bundle | Daz 3D

Get Outside Bundle | Daz 3D

My computer is upside down for the next few weeks as I installed Windows 10 on the new 2TB M.2 NVMe I got yesterday and installed my new AMD Ryzen 7 5700G APU. I also pulled my GTX 1650 Super GDDR6x4GB yesterday too in prep for a RTX 3000 series video card in November or sometime after. When I get DAZ & all that content back up & running I don't know, I'm not in a hurry.

Okay got a few hours sleep, update here in Pensacola was after the tornado warning over in Alabama's Dauphin Island, we had a tornado warning for Cantonement/Ensley area. Don't know if anything touched down, it had rotation. That's about thirty minutes driving time from here. Otherwise, just a rainy day and a few balmy breezes.

Been chatting with a few of you in PMs and I am apparently not the only one who has had slow forum experiences, but some of you are getting slow site times. That hasn't been an issue but I've had one host error yesterday. DIM seems to be fine for me but two people have said theirs is wonky with times to download

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 4,115

It is good DIM is working. I did a Reset Database this morning, after saving my User Data on the Dragon, and everything came back as greyed and needing to be installed by Daz Connect! So I deleted my database in DIM, and now I am doing a re-install, selectively. I have to manage this over the next 3 months as we have a 1.22TB limit and my database comes in at 3.9TB now.

I was rushed before, but I have been watching the storm coverage on CNN and MSNBC all day. Not sure my thoughts and prayers will do any good, but maybe my stress factor will help. It is easier to ride out a typhoon than to watch helpless as you know folks living through the equivalent in a hurricane.

Bless all in its path and may you come through to the sun whole.

We're getting pummeled here with rain, over 5" and some places 8" in the Pensacola area. It just depends on the cells coming over you and we were in the red. Wouldn't you know it I had to leave and go pick up the bird food I ordered, was completely out. Folks are driving responsibly so the trip was uneventful, but I have a Honda Civic so it is a really low car and the SUVs were just breezing along and I was getting whammed with higher puddles/flooding. No power outtage here but 1,100 folks around here lost power, I think closer to the Alabama line.

And look out folks in the Southeast, it's coming for you next!  I feel so bad for Waverly, TN, they can't catch a break.

The event in Waverly, TN preceded the hurricane! Tennessee & Kentucky do not drain quickly like the sandy soils of Florida. It was unreal but these torrential rains out of nowhere have been showing up frequently in this area for the last decade. Tornados now in 2nd half of January. Hurricanes keeping it together enough to show up in September. People laugh at me when I tell them nowadays in the Pennyroyal and central Appalachia what I'm talking about are Biblical size floods like I'm exaggerating but I'm definately not! That waterfall and stream in my backyard were huge and you'd get smashed against my home's backwall if you tried to stand up against it. It nearly collapsed that wall and it was scary. Of course it wasn't covered by my home insurance. Kin, friends, neighbors having 100 year old plus trees snapped like twigs and falling on their homes and cars. Crazy and too frequently occurring to people I know which is so improbable unless I know it is not bad luck but a much increased probability of occurance by a radical shift in weather patterns. That I'll believe.

Stay safe on the gulf. It's not like Florida and gulf weather is calming down just because it's getting more turbulent inland!

I picked up the dForce Clothing Set 01 for Genesis 8 Female(s) in the $1.99 sale the other day. I know 3D Universe mainly does children and toons, but they really ought to have included some preview images of what these clothes look like on an adult model. I thought I'd remedy that here:

The answer is: they look pretty good! You get an odd crease below the breasts when the items are first fitted, but it falls out when you run the dForce simulation. The ruffled skirt is perhaps a bit too girlish, I'd probably dial back the shininess of the satin one (the materials for this dress are actually a set of satin shaders that you can apply to anything), and also drop the translucency a little - with a light in the wrong (or right) place, some of these clothes leave very little to the imagination! But $1.99 for six items of clothing and some shaders was an absolute steal!

Model: Babina 8, Hair: Martha's Everyday Bob

They definitely do. I don't particularly care for the crotch of the shorts, but some shorts do have dramatic v's. It all looks usable so thanks for showing those. Another product I have but haven't rendered yet. :)

Well, I guess it just took a bit longer for the site slowdown to impact me. Talk about molasses. I note it first goes to google.com when it is loading. Next time you visit the store, watch the bottom left corner and see where it routes through. It goes pretty fast once it gets going.

Just want to say I hope our Southeastern friends are all okay after Hurricane Ida's deluge went up there. I happened to be up all night and saw it in progress, the Weather Channel announcers were speaking so fast and trying to cover everything, they were overwhelmed trying to get all the information out. For our overseas friends, we had multiple states (clustered together) where there were rare tornadoes going on all at once, and THREE inches of rain falling per hour for several hours. Subways had crashing water coming in, like white water rapids, as did streets, and water came up to the overpasses. We hope you folks in those states are making it through okay. Hugs from Florida, we're safe (so far. Season is just ramping up.)

  • Back to rendering for the first time since November with the update update that is finally compatible with current Mac OS and CPUs ..  also the first purchase from the store since then.

I'm in New Jersey which was hit by the remnants of Ida.  We had ridiculously wet August with 11 inches of rain at the weather station three miles from here - 4 a week ago.  August is nomrally the wettest month with about 5 inches being normal for the full month.  The ground was saturated and there had been a fair amount of minor flooding just before Ida hit.  We had 8.1" in 7 hours here - some parts of the state were over 11.  There are a lot of failry flat areas and Central NJ took a big hit.  One of the more intense part of the storm was at the tail end of rush hour and a lot of people were stranded.  Two police departments rescured over 200 people *each*.  There are a number of illegal sublets that rent out basements and some people couldn't get out.

We were lucky - we live near top of a hill and only had one shallow rooted tree go down in an area that didn't do any damage. No water in the basement, although the sump pump has been going for about two weeks now first dealing with the big storm at the end of August and now this.  Yesterday most of the roads around here started to open.

Normal years in NJ used to bring about 40" of precipitation.  The average now is closer to 60" and this year is aout 70" so far.

I guess I should start rendering maritine scenes.

Yes, it's very horrible. I'm glad my basement just leaks and the wall is only partially buckled (so far) and that I don't live in it. It's still kind of scary even to live over top of it as those basement wall hold up the rest of the house. These flash floods are not going away, whether you live in NYC or anywhere else, one should be seriously reevaluating the need to live in a basement. Or on a steep mountainside, Or in floodplains. Firezones. Hurrican alleys. Tornado alleys.  Volcanos. Earthquakes. These are all things known about for a long time but it's still being allowed to develop such land and with antiquated building technology to maximize profit margins nevertheless.

LOL to change the subject- a really funny dog outfit for Halloween that someone put on their French Bulldog says "Farts are just food ghosts. BOO!"  You can imagine what that BOO represents  devil

I bought a hilarious dog outfit which I will show you in October. It's great!!!!

Anyone buy that steampunk horse? I love the look of him/her. I'm not interested in the bundle, but may pick the horse up.

Some of my neighbors have put in, at the end of August already, their yard full of Halloween decorations. I personally like following the Seasonal / Holiday schedule used by teachers when I was in elementary school to decorate my house & yard seasonally and not have the year divided into only two seasons/holidays: Halloween & Christmas is what's done here now for nearly half the year. It wears out the novelty and effectiveness to go after those two holidays that much. Also, not nearly as many kids go trick-or-treating anymore as was the case in the past. I remember some subdivisions seeming like they were the sidewalks of Manhattan with all the kids Trick-or-Treating going from house to house.

I like the Steampunk Vehicle Bundle but haven't bought it. Probably will eventually. I would of liked to see that Anime character part of that bundle been caricaturized to be European, being it's Steampunk and all, but maybe Japan likes SteamPunk theme too? Maybe it would be good for a Steampunk Speed Racer. Or SteamPunk Around the World in 80 Days.

I have bought a lot of other things instead though (3 Ansiko items, 4 Aurelio items, Mrs Chow Starter Bundle, Down on the Farm, a couple of items picked from the Coral 8.1 Bundles - poof - spending money gone) but have spent out for this sale after I spend the $15 DAZ Originals credit I'll be getting this week. I have a back log of items I need to buy after buying a bunch of $5 or cheaper PA Interactive Licenses when they were on sale. That was a pretty good move for me to have done that. I was picking them off as fast as I could afford.

So done already, but am very satisfied with this PA sale.

That is nice but I only bought 1920 City Street | Daz 3D instead. I wanted the whole bundle but have other things I wanted not DAZ related instead.

It's been awhile since 8.1 was released- IIRC Genesis 8.1 stuff does not go backward compatible with Genesis 8?  The Chelsea Boots, for example, say it's 8.1 in the title, but in the compatible section list both 8.0 and 8.1.   Is that a mistake? I'm not buying them (wishlisted) but am curious. And will the 8.0 go forward compatible with 8.1?
