...that's OK, not trained in SCUBA anyway Sad however to hear that what sounded like an interesting experience became just another seagoing playtoy.

Still would love to do a real Transatlantic crossing

The Queen Mary II is the only passenger ship offering them during the summer season.  A few years ago Cunard actually removed the casino on the B deck and converted the area to single occupancy cabins due to the fact more people are travelling solo (well, before Covid). Beforehand, you had to pay a "single supplement" like in most hotels (basically the cost for the entire cabin that is usually shared).  The ship still has more on board amenities than the classic liners of old, but they do their best to give one the feel of a real "crossing" rather than a the typical "casino resort on the sea" type cruise.  Unfortunately it would require having to score a decent lotto payout to afford it as I'd also make the trip from Portland to New York by train, just like in the old days.

It's no wonder there is so much stress and angst today as people always tend to be in a rush to get somewhere or do something, I always thought the purpose of a vacation was to relax and take it easy.  Really wish I had the funds to travel the "old school" way instead of on a "Greyhound bus" with wings.  Crikey even Greyhound buses have become more comfortable than airline "steerage".

The French never had a quarter. They used to have francs, but they changed to the Euro some time ago.

Plenty nuts in here though. cheeky

Complaint:  So annoying... so now when you quote someone in a reply, the text box opens on a separate page... and if you lose your Internet connection, or get a Cloudflare, you lose what you wrote... I guess I'm going to get back into the habit of writing anything longer than a sentence or two in Notes when quoting.

...I've taken to composing replies in MSWord. then pasting them in the edit window.  This way not only can I fix typos as I go, but if Cloudflare or the forum software burps up, I still have a copy I can post when the situation clears up.

Non-complaint: I broke down and got a ticket to Ashnikko's Livestream on Friday. At first, I held off and told myself I wasn't going to. There's a huge potential for the Livestream to be lazy and underproduced. It's not like an actual concert. For all I know, she's just going to set up a webcam in her bedroom. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that seeing Ashnikko casually in her bedroom would be AWESOME. It would give me a chance to get to see the "real" her, or at least one more relaxed than she'd be on a stage. Plus I don't know anyone who likes Ashnikko. So I don't know who'd I'd be able to get to go to a live show with me. This way, I can watch in my PJs and don't have to worry about being alone in a crowd. I really, really hope it's a mix of casual interaction (like with a chat), and high production performance, complete with those crazy costumes she loves so much. I guess we'll see. (I'd link to one of her songs, but she's kind of racy.)

i think i may be going overboard with the pbr shaders.  a carrara  native brass shader will look good on gears.  dont really need a hader with 6 different maps.applied

rendering a set with water, dunno how to make the water look like its moving.  and sunlight should sparkle on the water.  leaves should stir in the breeze.  a simple render has turned into a major project.

carrararing to paganini.  carr arr raa boomdee eh

I can tell when there's going to be a Cloudflare issue because the "post comment" gets greyed out. Whenever that happens I just select all + copy. My Grammarly extension serves as a spell checker. I haven't been logged on with them for months now, so they keep sending me worried emails. I'm fine with them not collecting my info, so I continue to stay logged out.

And here's how it's normally sung.

I decided I don't want a real arowana but would like one for DS one day maybe?

Arowanas are amazing, but they can grow to 6 feet long.  And they will inhale their roomates...and not exhale them back out.

The mailbox is a nice touch, but where's the Amazon lock box?  Those squirrel neighbors are porch pirates!  And where's the garage and SUV?  What the heck, dude?

Did you at least return her electric guitar, drum set, and trombone to her?

Non-complaint:  Wheee... had fun all morning planning an upgrade for one of my ancient HP computers.  Considering the impending continuation and worsening of the chip shortage, I thought it might be a profitible idea to grab me a modern mATX motherboard, zippy many core CPU, and enough fast RAM to blow life again into that old HP case.  The old HP has already been upgraded with an SSD.  I was able to piece together an Asus Prime B365M-A motherboard, Intel i5-9600K CPU, and two 4GB sticks of Crucial DDR4 RAM for a total of $360 (US)  The i5-9600K is too good for the old HP but is better than the i5-8600 I have in one of my new machines so I might just swap it.enlightened  And yeah, 8GB seems small these days, but my intention is not to use the upgraded machine for myself, but to sell it on to a family member looking to climb out of the dark ages.  I could sell it for $400, make a profit and save them a couple hundred dollars too.   And that Asus motherboard has lots of room for growth, with two m.2 NVMe sockets, 4 memory slots, 6 SATA ports.  No, it won't be the fastest horse on the track but is light enough that even the old power supply will suffice.

I haven't made up my mind to purchase all that stuff yet, but the planning was fun.

Complaint:  Oh, poo... I just remembered it will need an OS too.  Crap!frown  That would send the price up to around $460.  I have an unused, unopened Win10 but it's Win10-Pro and I hate to waste it.

Non-complaint: Problem solved.  I'll spend my money on storage and RAM and possibly that i5-9600K for myself.devil

More complaint:  I just realized also that my current motherboard in my new machine with the i5-8600 is an earlier ASUS version that is compatible only with Intel 8th generation CPUs, so I can't use the 9600K.  Boogers!angry

Non-complaint:  OK, so more money for me to throw at storage and RAM and miscellaneous and possibly if the stars align, a proper graphics card.  Wheee...smiley

Possibly someone who has diet restrictions   checking the list of what is actually in that ordinary packet of sausages.   That is one reason I prefer shopping on line,   far easier to check ingredients.

If you're worried about diet restrictions of sausages, you shouldn't think about what's in sausages in the first place. indecision

She's probably pissed I chose to relocate her the same day it rained at night... hopefully her roof is well waterproofed.

I'm also wondering what her assessment is of the muddy, rutted dirt road we had to go down to get to the sanctuary parking lot... First an earthquake, then her house is in the middle of nowhere in a rainstorm.
