when you cant beat em, join em.

i'm a fan of don't dish it out if you cant take it

My aunt had a wonderful way of dealing with spoiled grandchildren.  The 5 and under crowd somehow get the idea that wailing and whining solves their problem.  It might have worked on their parents but grandma would just go and sit next to the noisemaker and start to wail and whine and sob and kick her feet louder than they were, mimicking their actions.  Worked almost everytime.  It would surprise the kid so much that they would stop and look at her like a crazy woman.  Once the wailing stopped she could engage with them and talk them down to reasonable behavior.  However, if that failed, they were sent to another room to wail and whine in private.  That worked too, nobody to annoy, so why bother. indecision

...Non Complaint.  Finally someone released a sky system that works with the Iray Sun/Sky which adds detail like clouds instead of just leaving you with a clear sky.

Crikey I spent so much on sky and cloud products yet the only ones that work with the Iray sun are Stonemason's Iray Clouds, and the Ireal Animated Clouds.  Everything else (including the Cloudscape Creator Bundle, which I had the impression was just cloud layers) all include full HDRI environments . My issue with most sky HDRIs is that "sun" (which is usually a photometric distant light) is often not as physically accurate as the Iray Sun/sky setting.  I have found some where the sun is less "luminous" (even using the exact same tone mapping settings I do with the Iray Sun), colour temperature isn't the same (most often on the "cool" side), and often shadows do not diffuse properly with object distance, as well as are too dark.

I often think that maybe God had it easier.  You know, by creating real sky and real clouds, with real sun and real sunshine rays.   As it turns out, simulating things is really really hard!  cheeky

I'm in the case than you, but I especially complain with the size of HDRI in VRAM... They take so much place oO Around 1.5 GB for a 16k x 8k image if I'm right (16000 (width) x 8000 (height) x 3 (RGB) x 4 (32 bits per component) ). If we have a 45° camera angle, we'll see 2000 px from the HDRI, so if the render is larger, it'll be blurred and the other 14000px won't be shown in the render. If we use a HDRI smaller than 16000px it'll be yet more blurred :s We also don't have any control on them, everything is in the image, we can't change color of one element without changing other ones or we need to edit the HDRI, if we make wrong rotation the ground can be seen in the sky, etc...

All that to say iRay Sky Pro is a great idea :) I'm using more and more a Sun-Sky environment by removing the HDRI (to keep lights from the scene). I also purchased other products of the same type (like Cloudscape Creator). And usually I'm a big fan of KindredArts products :)

...I could send Leela to sing a few tunes.

She may be a genius wunderkind virtuoso on the piano, but cats scurry away to hide when she tries to sing.

Or, you could just get a pair of these, they do a great job of protecting your ears rom the sounds of jet engines.:

...well so much for the market trip today as the cold rain which was forecast to end about mid morning just kept up through the entire afternoon and now not expected to end until nearly 16:00.  Very chilly as well, in the low to mid 50s all day (normal for this time of year is 70°).  Pretty much too late now for the long walk to the market I usually shop at and I have somewhere else to be  tomorrow (on what now will be the one nice day of the week) so no grocery run until Friday at the earliest (Thursday will be even worse, as it will be will be similar to today but also blustery as well - I wish I could afford to live in Hawai'i as at least there when it does rain it is warm and doesn't last all day).

There is no perfect place on this rock of iron and nickel.

But a lot of places here are decidedly nicer than other places in the universe, or even here in our own solar system.  I wonder...if there WERE real martians living on Mars, would they think we were absolutely bonkers for trying to go to Mars, when we have water and air that wasn't -144 F?  Would they think we were just mental for thinking about leaving behind our trees and sunrises, sunsets, snow, and running through the sprinklers during July?

Things that make you go "hmmmm......."

I hear you... I have often wondered about the sanity of my ancient ancestors... What made them move up here, where you have to heat your shelter at least half the year, you may get nice and warm for 2 months and the rest is just wet and cold...

Admit, it must have been a perfect place for hermits, but with whom did they make puppies with...

...actually I originally moved to the Pacific Northwest (Seattle) from the north central area of Wisconsin where it gets really cold (like -20° to -30° F) and I've seen significant snow as early as mid October and as late as the early part of May.  I now live in Portland OR 130 miles to the southof Seattle as the crow flies   Been in the Nothwest for 41 years and at first it was nice having 50° temperatures around the Yule Holidays, but over time I've become totally acclimated to the point I don't think I could ever handle a Wisconsin winter anymore. Also arthritis has kicked over the tehy last 15 years to the point it makes those chilly damp days muchless enjoyabe.

I need to be someplace like Hilo where it's always in the mid 70s to low 80s year round.

I could say "A bitch", but that might be too subtle in the pun/joke department and too heavy in the politically incorrect department, so I won't say it.  Sorry, move on, nothing to see here.  This is not the reply you're looking for.

I grew up with a female dog friend. She was mainly a border collie with some lab mix. I miss her sometimes.

First time ever, I cooked a London Broil tonight.  It was a thick piece of top round, so I broiled it on a rack with some carrots, 15 minutes on each side.  Did not flip the carrots, lol.  Salt, pepper, some steak rub, and wow, delicious.

Non-complaint:  Wheeee..., my kitchen lightshow has again surprised me.  The Sun keeps changing position slightly every morning and the direct rays that hit my windowsill prisms behave slightly differently every morning.  Today seemed like it was nothing special, the spectrum from the big triangular prism was in its typical place somewhere on the far wall, and the three little spots of red, green, and blue from the little cubic dichromatic mirror/splitter prism went their separate orthogonal directions.  Sometimes the blue spot gets projected through the kitchen door into the living room, which is kind of cool because it shows up brilliantly in the dark livingroom.  That was it's position this morning, but in addition to the "normal", it was positioned just right so that little beam of blue light passed just under the spout opening of my kitchen faucet.  When I turned on the water to make coffee, the top one inch of the aerated water column just below the spout was glowing brilliant blue like there was blue flame coming from the spout.  Cool!cool   Wheee... yessmiley  No proof though.frown  By time I got my camera ready, the sun had moved enough to make realigning everything difficult/impossible and not worth the trouble.  Just a pleasant memory.
