...who is immediately portrayed as a voodoo priestess and the guy as a basketball player, lol. ;)
Stereotypes. But why a basketball player? A runner would be more appropriate, it's hard to beat some of the most notable African or Jamaican sportsmen. Similarly, Monique could be a singer of a more demanding genre.
Yesss!! runner and singer, there are a lot of stars for inspiration. Also, there isn't a beach theme.
Like this? Someone posted a V4 morph of Billie Holliday a few days ago in Renderosity's free stuff. Wish more people would start making famous characters for Genesis 2.
Very nicely modelled, but I still don't understand what the hype is about, regarding whether a new character has been 'officially' made by Daz or some other vendor in the store. A character's a character, IMO.
The 'official' characters tend to be better than most made by not-DAZ3D, in my experience. Also they are typically getting additional HD morphs later on (unless HD morphs would be really great for them, amirite, Gia?) and their morphs usually become part of the standard roster of body morphs included in new clothing items, which is a great help.
I must say, I really like those bundles, most items looks surprisingly good. And really, I wanted Dunkmaster Darius for quite a while but couldn't afford him, now I finally have him, in a way :D
I sure am hoping my new credit card shows up tomorrow or these bundles will be going on my wishlist for an extended period until they hit another big sale...sure wishing this cc thing hadn't happened right before MM
Oh? Might I ask what happened?
My cc got compromised and I had to cancel it on Saturday, the bank told me the new one would be here in 5 to 7 days.... it wasn't in the mail today tho so I guess it will be Monday before I see it. Guess I will miss out on the best prices on Pro bundles :(
For myself I didn't find the dreadlocks to look particularly realistic based on what I've seen in real life.
Find me a better Genesis 2 set in the store - or Genesis, for that matter. ;)
Plus, we now have another set, just in today! :-)
So basically your criteria of realistic is the first of something produced for a product? That's an interesting way to define realism.
Also hate to be the one to break it to you but Medea hair is braids not dreadlocks. Although they may look similar sometimes they are two completely different hair styles.

No, my criteria of whether something looks good is, well... Whether it looks good. :) I'm simply pointing out how rare this particular sort of style is, on top of that.
If you don't like the look of them, that's your prerogative. I personally really like them.
This thread needs more Darius. A bit of a quick one as I didn't have a lot of spare time today, but I'll get something a bit more complete together by the end of the week :)
It's not the outfits themselves that I found ridiculously stereotypical, it was that they were used front and center as the promotional images for those characters on Day 1. Lee and Mei Lin were no better, their releases were basically a giant shout of "ASIANS = MARTIAL ARTS!"
We should have those outfits of course, but maybe when it's time for a Hispanic character, you guys could save the matador, masked wrestler, and taco truck for Day 2? ;)
Wouldn't it be a worthy giggle of nature to make another Caucasian render scream: "CAUCASIANS = MASS MEDIA AND STOCK EXCHANGE!"?
Anyway, a Spanish guy could be a nice addition.
José Maria and Pilar both at same time, when I will have dollars, please. Not forgetting beach clothes and a high fashion dress. And a precious think like this
sooo a question...Monique works on G2F which you have to have for it to work...but in order to use a character made for monique does one have to use both G2F AND Monique or will it work on just G2F. Ive noticed many fine characters for the figures based on G2s and have always wondered if these require that second or will just work on the G2.
Thanks,
Scott
I'm in love with Monique, really I am. Gorgeous gorgeous character. I think this is the most I've been excited for a daz character since....well, I can't remember.
This is default Monique, and I used the brilliant Omri hair by AprilYSH.

Generally you would need the g2f base and the character its built on. You can check the required products on the actual product page.

There's no really easy answer to this, I'm afraid. :)
When something requires one (or sometimes even more) figures to function, that means it needs them for optimum results. Now, unfortuantely, we don't have any kind of 'percentage requirement' for that... So, it might mean it requires that extra figure for, say, a specialised morph which altered the mouth by a few fractions of a degree or something just as trivial.
Of course, it could also mean it uses many aspects of the specific figure. Sometimes it's not even the shaping morphs, but the UV map peculiar to that particular figure and no other (which, in turn, might not even matter if you're not interested in the skin it comes with).
So, the short answer is that if you want it to look exactly like it does on the promotional images, you need everything it specifies. But to precisely what degree, you never know until you have them. :)

So sorry to hear that! Had to cancel mine - again - a week ago, thankfully the new one arrived in time. Not that it matters much, I don't think I will make cc purchases for a while :D
Anyway, maybe the bundles will go back on sale at the end of March as they sometimes do, so may get a second chance ;D

Then you don't get the additional 10% on other products during the month if you don't buy both bundles together. I think it was very unfair of Daz to start before March 1st, as lots of people were probably preparing there purchases around their paycheck which is usually the first of the Month. Or if Daz wanted to start early they should be willing to extend the extra discounts on the pro bundles a few more days to march 3rd. That would be proper to accommodate those who only get paid March 1st

Here's Tamara Monique based (left character) and Tamara dialed in on plain G2F (right side).
There are differences, but the character is usable even without Monique. It might throw some error messages, though.
Sorry for the crappy render QS, I didn't take much time with the lighting.

Thanks, really just the shape, would probably add a texture myself. May have to give it a try.
Cheers
I'm guessing SAV Lynn hair from rendo, possibly the really old Alicia hair from rdna. Or it might be a new fro that's not been released yet. There's not many available. Swam has some nice ones for the ladies but they're too feminine for guys.

Here's FW Shaneka and FWSA Tamara with and without Monique added. Both use the default G2F UV maps so the skin will work for everyone. If you don't have the G2F head and body morphs you'll get an error about cornea bulge, and the navel morph won't work, but everything else will be as shown here.
I used the low light mats and the regular FW Character Lights that they both come with.
(Before anyone asks, hair is Oni by AS at RDNA, shorts are from Faylinn, the top I haven't released yet.)
It was a knee-jerk reaction to seeing Darius in a Witch Doctor outfit.
See, I grew up in Harlem NYC in the 1970s during a time when teachers and community leaders worked hard to counteract the stereotypical images of black people as tribal savages. They grew up during the Civil Rights Movement so they were hyper-sensitive about any portrayal that might be seen as disrespectful, and they passed that way of thinking on to us.
Mind you, I understand that the headdress makes for a dynamic image. It has lots of accessories and is really well-done, but it was still kind of a shock to see. This, like SnowSultan said, after the recent promotions for Lee 6 which really gave off that message of ASIANS=MARTIAL ARTS, seems like a way to sell items based on old stereotypes.
Yes.
It basically the equivalent of possibly making the premier image of 'Michael' be a guy holding up a Dixie flag and a shotgun, while chewing on corn and wearing jean overalls, with a dog next to him and a pickup in the background.
Stereotypes of all kinds exist... sure there may be people that fit any one of them... but consider which of them you pick when you represent figures. Some of them carry a LOT of baggage.
I REALLY LIKE these new figures. But someone over there is also notably tone-deaf in their marketing.
The fantasy outfits for these two, I can see uses for. But the context and naming that they're presented in... are, well, tone deaf. :)
This is default Monique, and I used the brilliant Omri hair by AprilYSH.
That's Omri hair? Very nice — I wasn't going to buy it right away, none of the promos show that much length variation. I think now I'll try to get it this week or next.

You can always increase the limits, even in hairstyles made to be short provided they have a lengthtening morph. Omri looks great. I will watch out for catchup offers - bringing two awesome bundles in the last week of the month imposes that.
Hmm, good suggestion to extend the limits on Omni hair. I did try seeing if there were morphs on Darius, but couldn't find any initially. I forgot all about that.
I hope we see some more guy hairs. Maybe with shaved patterns. Hmmm. Been wanting that for some time.
Hello, I'm just butting in here to say that I saw Monique and Darius for the first time today and I'm quite impressed with both. They appear to be very high quality and I'm considering a pro purchase of each.
It's not easy to impress me with any models of men; just not so much my thing. And of the ladies, I am looking for better with each new one that comes out. So I must say "well done" to all who worked on them and their accessories/products.
THIS is precisely what I'm looking for: Excellent products for a competitive price. No punch-sale complexities or silliness needed. Thank you for making my weekend!

Can anyone tell me which hair is being used for Darius in this promo art? And if you know what nasal jewelry I'd like to know that too.
I'm also looking for some other suitable hair for Darius (besides the dreads and braids.) Apprecitate any good hair suggestions.

Messy Dreads? They do look a little solid and thick, cartoonish... Or... Consider David Hinds:
Now if you meant one of the other dreadlock styles in the new products, I need to look more before I comment.
