My cc got compromised and I had to cancel it on Saturday, the bank told me the new one would be here in 5 to 7 days.... it wasn't in the mail today tho so I guess it will be Monday before I see it. Guess I will miss out on the best prices on Pro bundles :(

So sorry to hear that! Had to cancel mine - again - a week ago, thankfully the new one arrived in time. Not that it matters much, I don't think I will make cc purchases for a while :D

Anyway, maybe the bundles will go back on sale at the end of March as they sometimes do, so may get a second chance ;D

Then you don't get the additional 10% on other products during the month if you don't buy both bundles together. I think it was very unfair of Daz to start before March 1st, as lots of people were probably preparing there purchases around their paycheck which is usually the first of the Month. Or if Daz wanted to start early they should be willing to extend the extra discounts on the pro bundles a few more days to march 3rd. That would be proper to accommodate those who only get paid March 1st

Yeah, it IS a big disadvantage, no doubt. Although DAZ has been doing this more and more, staring their sales ahead of time and then extending them like, half a month :/

Personally, I've decided to leave my own political correctness at the door

People really need to STOP using the conservative term "political correctness" in such a way as to insinuate that I and others are petty for demanding the same dignity, respect, and individualism as another.

Completely agree. Those telling everyone else to stop being "so PC" or to "grow a spine" are almost never of the same race, gender, or sexual orientation as those who point out the potential criticism.

Political correctness *can* be taken too far, but most of the time it is the simple act of trying to not disrespect those who may be different from us. It's not whining or stifling creativity, it's being nice - and we could use more of it.

The issue has been thoroughly discussed and has been examined from a wide variety of angles. Unfortunately the discussion is now beginning to get pesonal. We are therefore going to ask people to step away from the subject unless or until there are new developments.

The issue wasn't with the content (at least for me), it was the presentation. Anyway, we should drop it like Cris suggested.

Smacky in australia is a derogatory term for a herion addict.

Hrm, I wish I'd known that when I made her then. ;) Some people have said that she needs to wear more, and I've bought a number of things here to try and kitbash something more practical. It's a very slow process and I'll probably have to retexture items myself, but I do understand that it's better in the end if she's more appropriately dressed.

Thanks for the information and for taking a look at my art. :)

Smacky is perfect the way she is, IMO.. strong, beautiful fantasy warrior. Distraction AC is the best kind of AC!

I agree that we should all be respectful and polite, but I will stand firm and say that I have no problem with the presentation or the content for these bundles, and I have every right to say this regardless of my cultural background (this is also partly why I don't say my cultural background).

That said, I am dismayed that my prior post fanned any flames. Obviously, that is a sensitive thing in a negative way, because not a single person responded to my positive points about how I think the models are high quality and that the pieces/parts in the bundles can be used in many different ways, opening up new possibilities to all artists.

The positive parts; THOSE where what I really wanted to talk about. Anyway, I will leave this topic now; and sadly so.

But hopefully you won’t let others opinions ultimately change your vision to much of the character, she should be true to you and what you believe for her appearance

I actually enjoy hearing viewer suggestions (as long as they're semi-coherent, haha) because they help me think about things or consider ideas that I would not have come up with on my own. Some people don't; I have a friend on deviantArt who absolutely refuses to hear any suggestions for her characters, and that's fine too.

True, but Smacky fights female demons so it's not effective like it is for Red Sonja who only fights men. ;) That's part of why I'm considering giving her a more practical outfit in time; she doesn't have that old distraction excuse and it doesn't really fit her personality of being kind and naive that well. Of course, I'm limited to what 3D products I can buy, so here's hoping for some more non-princess fantasy dresses, tunics, and one-piece suits in the future (hopefully with Sarsa and Moyra textures). :)

It's not the outfits themselves that I found ridiculously stereotypical, it was that they were used front and center as the promotional images for those characters on Day 1. Lee and Mei Lin were no better, their releases were basically a giant shout of "ASIANS = MARTIAL ARTS!"

We should have those outfits of course, but maybe when it's time for a Hispanic character, you guys could save the matador, masked wrestler, and taco truck for Day 2? ;)

Actually, I always kind of seen Gia as a Hispanic. She actually reminds me of a fitness instructor I once knew of the very ethnicity. Besides wasn't Gia based on a Hispanic female wrestler anyway?

Either way, If pattern serves true, our next ethnic couple will be Native American. :)

I think it was an MMA fighter.

Will the textures that work on Monique like Shaneka work on the Genesis 2 Base or on Victoria 6?

Anything by Fred Winkler will, I can't speak for the others.

I hope so, and I hope it will encourage vendors (especially clothing makers) to look outside the plains tribes aesthetic. That I wouldn't mind having something suitable for Mississippian cultures about now doesn't hurt, though I suspect the Southwestern tribes are easier to research. :)

Heyas!! I'm late to the party since DAZ sprung March Madness in February [wut] AND it was a long weekend public holiday here in Western Australia!!! :blank: lol

So now I'd like to share the artwork by 3 artists you can find posted with permission here
    https://www.facebook.com/AprilYSH.3d
Jakiblue - I just love her interesting character portraits!
Trrazor aka RedSpec - Octane render featuring their custom Monique skin shader setup... very luscious!
Shibashake - watch out for the black stormtrooper and Marie Laveau!

I really love seeing what others can do with these characters. I was very excited with Darius in particular, and I hope DAZ continue with releasing a male counterpart with the females. I understand it IS a bit harder to put together release bundles when there are two major characters to support, but I believe there will be many future items supporting Monique and Darius since they came out VERY strong! :D

    Thanks and enjoy your renders!

I am sure that if they shifted to a pattern of releasing two new character bundles two months apart, the customers would still be happy. Particularly if those characters are of the quality of these.

It seems to me they space out the "major" (or "base") characters and have some relatively niche (or "specialised") characters in between, and those speciliased ones don't tend to have male/female duos. I could be wrong, it just seems that way without looking back over my order history hehe :) And if that's right I would still like the guys to catch up with more male specialised characters too... not that I can think of any :shut: lol

Now that DAZ are releasing pro bundles with roughly half the products that the earlier pro bundles had, maybe it will be easier for them to release two shapes (ie male and female version) at the same time

Hey we haven't given up on asking DAZ to add the "build your own bundle" feature yet have we? ;-) I know it's complicated but I'm still hoping... one day marketing will run out of ideas and finally try it! lol

your own character is a very gorgeous looking semi naked warrior woman. Smacky in australia is a derogatory term for a herion addict. If i made any kind of dark skinned character here and called iit Smacky the media would roast me alive. Not to mention the femnist groups for her scanty clothing. How would you feel if you were asked to change it as it is offending people?

SnowSultan is a satirical writer, so he uses the tropes as a distorting mirror. Lots of heroines have scantily-clad in fantasy (geez, just look into most 3D shops) - Snow simply uses this trope to point out it's ridiculous. And Smacky is for Sahmeeka - the kids she played with could only spell Smacky. I believe that criticism based on the fact that something means something else in another language is pretty redundant to put it mildly. There can always be a word somewhere in the world that means something else, but it spelled or written in the same way. Heck, even in English, you can have an abbreviated name that can be also used as a naughty word...

Huh, that would be good! You mean Omri and Vidal? I admit I'd love to have a base plus clothes and hair bundle: Darius 6, Monique 6, Swamp Witch, Tribal Dancer, Witch Doctor, Omri Hair, Vidal Braids. Oh, and an expansion could be Find Your Mojo Expressions and Ma Belle Poses.

I'd seconding your thought! They are gorgeous and should be covered from every angle possible. I'd be also positively surprised to see some earlier clothes and hairstyles updated to accommodate them (particularly Basic Hair, Charm Hair, Newport Outfit and Possibilities 2PC Dress!). Oh, your hairstyles too - I like them so much! I think that now, I have most of them when Gen2F and Gen2M are concerned.

YEEEESSSS!!! At least a regular voting time where they ask people for ideas for bundles and the chosen number of the most voted-for packs is to be incorporated into the shop as a regular bundle array. This would simply mean adding another entry to the database instead of a whole new set of discounts. Do you think it could work?

I am sure that if they shifted to a pattern of releasing two new character bundles two months apart, the customers would still be happy. Particularly if those characters are of the quality of these.

Agreed. They are lovely and releasing new major shapes bi-monthly would help more of us get them in the first week. I hope we will get more males and Darius will be the king of them all!

I totally agree with that.... My sister in law's first name is Fanny, which is a pretty common first name in France (AFAIK it started as dimminutive of Stephanie then started to be used as a "real" name).
Should she change her name because of what it means in English slang?

LOL, there is a pub in Kent called "Fanny on the Hill" and there was a great outcry when the PTB decided that it should change it's name.

Of course she shouldn't. I'm glad you agree with what I said. I guess it will be easier to make fanart for Smacky with Monique's skin(s). That is something I want to pick her up for, because Smacky rocks.
