just thinking out loud. Isn't it about time to start throwing around some ideas/themes for the second annual it's raining men contest?
Huh? Don't think I knew there was even a first one.
I'd love another contest. We had some really stellar entries in the first one. The mods really came together for it the first time around. I don't know if we can get another one together. I double checked when that last one started and start date for the contest was November 4. It would be nice to have another contest during the anniversary month. I'd be willing to donate a $10 gift card to the prize pool if it happens. Prizes from vendors this year would be nice. Last year, all prizes were from mods and a few of us forumites. I think @Chohole is the one that stepped forward last year to help really get the ball rolling and got permission to run the contest. She has a lot of contacts. :)
@Byrdie The contest is linked at the top of the thread, but I'll link it here for you. It was one of the catapults to L'Adair opening this thread because she (we all) wanted a place to continue posting our male images once the contest was over. We had a LOT of great images last year. We had a whopping 140 entries. I think it really surprised a lot of people at the interest it drew. Seeing that many entries again and even more would be very nice!
Ah, I remember now. That was around the time my old computer was having its third hard drive & motherboard failure and was crashing at least twice a day so I missed all the fun. Hopefully this year I'll be able to take part.
I PM'd @Chohole and @DAZ_ann0314 to see if it would be possible for us to put something together for next month. I'm not sure who one needs to contact in the forums for something like that. Chohole and Ann are the only ones I've ever really dealt with when it comes to contests that might have some pull to actually getting a green light for this. That would give us about 3 weeks to see if we can raise donations for the prize pool. I'd love to see this become an actual annual event.
DAZ contests aren't my thing. I tend to have radically different tastes than the judges, so I don't enjoy them too much, but have fun with that. =-)
I just enter for the fun of it. Getting a prize, even an honorable mention, is an unexpected bonus if it happens. If I can honestly say I did my best and learned from the experience it's a win for me no matter what anybody else thinks.
I wouldn't have thought they were my thing, either. While I did enjoy putting my entries together last year, the best part was seeing everyone else's entries and seeing the shear number of entries the contest got. If we get it together again, my hope is that it is even more widely popular with those that don't normally do male images and they give it a try. While I have a lot more skills now than I had last year, I still don't expect to win. I would still enjoy the contest, though. A nice round number of 200 entries sounds great, too, but I'd be happy with just last year's 140 plus 1. :)
It was the full moderation staff (lead by Richard Haseltine) who put that together last year so I passed on the request to the team to see I'll let you know when I hear anything back
I so really hope there is going to be one, last years looked to be so much fun.
I know I would love to partake in the challenge for sure!!!
Sounds like a plan! Thank you for your time! :)
It's a dull sunday night and I'm on a render roll and in one of those moods
Only problem with something like last years, it's a challenge to think of what to render.
If he was coming at me, I'd be closing my legs and getting out of there! :) That's a killer expression, though, nice. It just brings the whole picture together. Somehow, I don't think you are going to have that much of a problem coming up with an entry or two. :)
Sure. Like you would have a problem with that.
I agree. He looks just a little too eager to me... Great render, though.
Whoa!! That is both HOT and TERRIFYING at the same time! lol Who knew that could be a thing? lol
Nice work, Butch! :D
Something a little different.
Thanks folks. Alas, not everyone liked it, though
@divamakeup - Love the draping, divamakeup
Thank you, Butch, that's all Jepe though! hehe :D I don't know where I got it but I found a freebie from him in my runtime (as I'm currently categorizing all my 3D products) - I found that lovely sheet thing with like 5 different great morphs for G3M. I think I might have gotten it from his DA page.
Edit - Oh I found it! It looks like it has 9 different morphs. :D
Thanks Diva - I just downloaded a copy. Now I'll see if I can create something that'll last more than 5 mins in the gallery.
Somebody complained? I didn't see any TOS no-nos. Unless maybe somebody mistook his "getting ready to do medical stuff" hand pose for a rude gesture? Which it probably would have been in any other setting, but doctors do use that finger for examinations because it reaches better -- ow! My aching hemmoroids!
Oh nice! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them! :D
As for the gallery, I wouldn't take it personally. I don't really post much there as I've seen it's mainly a "club" mentality. The same people patting each other on the back and great renders getting ignored or maybe one up vote.
+1 — Agreed.
As far as I'm concerned, my Gallery pages are for me. If other people like my work and want to give a thumbs up and/or comment, that's okay. The main reason I post in the Gallery is to make posting an image in the forums easier... I can always find the uploaded image in the gallery. If I've only attached it to a post somewhere, it can take a lot of time to find it if I want to post it in another thread. The second most important reason is I also share my images with friends. So much easier for us all if I can just share a link.
Art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I've seen a lot of renders get high praise that don't "touch" my soul, even though I can usually see they are well done from a technical standpoint. And I've seen a lot of renders that I personally think are wonderful get passed over for praise in the Galleries, (and I'm not talking about my own renders! lol) It's all subjective. Just do what pleases you. And as long as something doesn't violate the TOS, post to your galleries as benefits you and your work style.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment
Well, if it's happening off-camera and only in your/the viewer's imagination, I don't see how anybody could TOS that. Who knows what all shenanigans these characters of ours get up to in our runtimes when they think nobody is looking?
hahah I love your new avatar! :D
Ah, your avatar! Love the new look! :)
Nice avatar. Love that sassy expression.
I wouldn't take it to heart. I haven't had an image yanked, but I get posts yanked from time to time. Usually for the same things others do all the time.
I like the galleries personally. I don't upvote a lot of images, but when I do they usually are images of male characters or sci-fi. I guess my interests are fairly predictable.
Ohohohohohohoo~
Here's my new render. Dressed To Kill
