I'll have to buy that Viking hair. It looks better than I thought and it can be used on other hair styles as an extension.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by Viking hair.  It has a nice curl to it too on the scalp area.  In general I don't tend to use the really shaved/Mohawk hairs but I think it really works

Love that!  I have a pair of those somewhere from a trip to Disneyland.  I love his skin!  Awesome!

I plan to do a larger, fuller version of this soon as it renders (which is taking forever because everything in the bkgnd is geometry...lol). The graininess gives it the look of an old photo tho :).

G3F and stuff I got from the sales this month and last...mostly ;).

Here's one for you. Wanted to try a redhead. Skin is Dylan from Rendo. Had to remove the brows, and just used Michael's shape with minor alterations though.

I posted this in the Iray thread too, But here's 2 versions of the same render. I really can't decide which I like more

    Fresco

    Or Caravaggio-esque chiaroscuro

Posing was the real fun, though. I used a Sargent drawing for reference. I find it way easier to pose from reference. Sargent has a lot more male figure drawings than your average historical artist ;)

    ...And while I'm here

Sometimes you just want to render someone pretty

The gallery version is much bigger btw, I actually rendered this one at a fairly propper size

Look at those cheekbones. I was messing aroud with different poses, and suddenly the lighting hit them just right. (also got the tip of the eyelid, I couldnt have planned that if I tried)

  • I really like the Fresco one Jcade, I don't know how you did it, but his skin looks almost like marble and the red fabric pooling toward the camera looks so much like a pool of blood. I don't know if that's what you were going for, but I think it looks amazing. And that portrait is gorgeous, his face almost makes me think of a Caligula bust. yes

@jcade - What are the hairs on those 2 fellows? Although the PA sale is over now, I can wait til next sale...although now I'm on an oriental kick now in the DAZ Store after having a South Beach Art Deco kick a couples weeks before this...

Caravaggio-esque chiaroscuro for sure for me.

I agree with Barbult, the Caravaggio-esque one is simply striking.

Good lord this is gorgeous. That outfit is amazing!

Mal, I like that a lot.

The clothing looks really nice without a lot of the weird little glitches that often annoy me, the composition is great, there is an overall artistic look to it, the tone is great... just, well, great. ;)

He looks good shirtless, which is a good thing because the shirt I was attempting to use kept looking terrible so I went 'eh, fine, topless'

Neat render! "The clock is ticking, tsk, tsk" =)

@Mal3Imagery: nice one. I like that a lot. The silvery arm blends well into the winter frosty look there.

@Timmins.William: I like that. He looks really nice and the colors, and the details like the beard really look good.

@Nonesuch: yeah, I know the feeling. You only have to get burned once like that to remember the sunblock.. =-)

This was meant as a test of facial hair, but I thought the gent came out rather handsomely, so... posting here

Looks nice, Will. I like the shirt texture, the hair, the composition...pretty much everything! Your other picture just above looks good too.

  • Lest all of you think I've given up on men, I assure you that I have not.  Unfortunately, I can't put my latest in the gallery here.  If you don't mind a little nudity, okay, maybe a lot of nudity, you can see it here.  :)

I wasn't expecting to laugh but that was funny.

  • Something cold...

Still haven't made a proper submission to the "It's raining men" contest, but I guess I'm being a bit perfectionist and stubborn. And the "don't post anywhere else" is limiting my "make a picture that fits all the contests" style. But I promise I will reach my 3 submissions this year!

I was curious what a male character who was equal parts Michael 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 would look like. Here he is, slightly beefed up muscle tone and slight changes to make his face less symmetrical.

The skin is Morris's Gunner, hair is Smay's Stalker Girl using IDG's iray hair shaders. No post work.
