The Raining Men event is one of my favorites.  I'd be interested.  This time around, I'd chip in for a family role model subcategory, such as father-son / grandfather-grandson / uncle-nephew, or similar.

LOL!  I'll think about it.  September is just for planning.  I'm looking into the possibility to opening the voting up to the forum and seeing how that goes this year.  It was one of the suggestions from participants last year so we might see how it goes this year.  If we can get people to participate and vote, that might be how we do the voting in the future.  This will be our test year for that, to see if we can get a lot of participation even from those who don't enter the contest.  October is for getting donors and November/December is contest time.  We'll see how it goes this month, but it looks like there is still interest so far.

I wasn't going to get G8M, but he was very cheap and I gave in.  Today I managed to convert my G3M models to G8 with no deformities, they pose wonderfully and all mens clothing fit properly - except for stuff that resembles body hair sad

Which "stuff that resembles body hair" do you mean? I've been able to use Oh My Body Hair without any issue (except with the back hair, which, as it turns out, has the same issue on G3M anyway).

I was probably exagerating, it was late in the evening wink  However, the upper arm hair doesn't touch the upper arm, stubble seems to not touch skin, around the back of the jaw.  And, like you said, the back's an issue but, I don't use it, anyway.  And, just a gripe, the buttock hair goes the wrong direction.   Have you tried fitting oh my brows?

On a different note, I like how auto-fit only gives the option of fully body, hair or dresses.  Daz's sexism's showing wink

    I'll dust off my brolly.

Do you think people will cope with voting for an image that doesn't feature a heavily photoshopped, scantily clad amazon?  cheeky

Do not tempt me! I'm quite certain I can come up with a male Amazon (stray visitor from an Alternate Universe maybe) if I get the urge. Maybe even in a temple with a sword and a few strategically placed bits of scenery to avoid completely fracturing the TOS. Fracturing your eyeballs, on the other hand ... devil

I asked Redz about the brows. In order to autofit the G3M version of Oh My Brows to G8M, you have to use Genesis 3 Female as the source. Something to do with them being derived from the same mesh. Anyway, that works just fine, once you know what to do. And, weirdly, Oh My Lashes works without any issue at all that I've noticed.

I hadn't noticed the upper arm hair issue, but I expect it's part of the same thing that's happening with the back hair. Something about the shape in the upper arm/shoulder area isn't defined quite properly.

I also wound up doing some mucking about with the geometry editor to get Real Hairy for G2M working on G3/G8M (mostly adding a surface zone so I can hide the part that would have been underneath the nipples), because there are some things Real Hairy still does better. And autofit is perfectly happy to deal with arms and legs on that. It'll all work until MikeyFTL comes out with a new G8 version, which he is apparently working on.

I have Opinions about things relating to G8M, which I will not go into here because the mods will bring out the big mallet, and that is among them.

That said ... if you consider the body of clothing made for both male and female characters, the included options actually cover almost all of them. The only one that's not covered is high heel shoes, and autofit/transfer utility haaaates those anyway. (Well, and armor, but that's about rigidity zone definition and not the shape.)

I remember actually watching the messages going by with a previous generation of autofit and realizing that sorta kinda behind the scenes, it was effectively defaulting to Full-Body for many things anyway, so them just deciding to make it more obvious isn't a huge surprise. In terms of the shapes of clothing, the options work ... though it would have been nice if they'd called the one template "Dresses-Tunics".

It's a very incomplete solution in terms of the morphs, and other specifics, but that's the sort of space that PAs normally fill in.

I've been successful using RedzStudios "Oh My Body Hair" for G3M using Sickleyields tutorial Convert Clothing G3 to G8, G8 to G3. I'd have to fire up the beast to see what else I've successfully converted, but it's worth the time, (which doesn't take long once you get used to the process,) to try it on whatever hair products you have for G3M: head, facial, and body hair. I think you'll have a lot more hits than misses.

Okay, it's almost that time again and I'm posting to see what kind of interest there is in running the It's Raining Men Again contest.  I'm looking for opinions and interest.  Do we run it again or is everyone tired of rendering men yet?

Bring it on! I'm more than ready.

I've been brainstorming for this year's contest ever since last year's contest ended.

As believable a topic as DAZ being biased towards the females, (afterall, that is what sells the most,) there is a technical explanation I read that makes it clearer. I'll probably botch this up royally, but the gist is changes with the latest 4.9 versions allow pose data in the clones, making fewer Projection Templates necessary. One of the DAZ_ mods suggested always using "None" for any sort of hair, and I use "Full-Body" for any clothing except dresses.

Then again, I've been using SY's tutorial on all my G3F and G3M clothing and hair, so I'm not using auto-fit very often.

@L'Adair  @vwrangler     I think my biggest problem was trying to do everything at once and I'm no multitasker.  I had a look at that tutorial, but saw something shiny laugh - I'll give it another look.   Thanks for the brow tip.  Angus now has eyebrows so rugged, they may rust.

Knittingmommy, yes, another It's Raining Men contest would be awesome. I am never tired of rendering men.

Here is Dylan for M8. He's got great skin, eyelashes, eyes, modeling. One of Raiya's best.

I'd love to have a subcategory in the contest for naked men, all within the TOS, of course. There's something very sexy about images that are creative about hiding the TOS-breaking bits, male or female. Sadly, I think we'd run into issues with some contestants not realizing what is allowed and what is not.

Even without such a subcategory, it might be a good idea to add a link in the contest rules to this clarifying post from Richard Haseltine: Acceptable Ways of Handling Nudity. I keep it bookmarked so I can share it, as well as refer to it if and when I do something a bit risque.

Probably a good idea.  We haven't had that problem as of yet.  Most participants did a great job staying within TOS.  I've seen a lot of images in the gallery lately by newbies who may not be aware of the TOS so I might include the link anyway.

A Naked Men category would indeed be fun but hard to manage. How about a skimpwear category, would that work better?  Dress your guys in as little as the law -- er, the TOS allows. Or does that already fall under gender re-purposing, since Vicky and her sisters own most of the skimpwear?

This is quite nicely done- Love the morphing on him, not to mention the skin.

Playing with morphs-though this one is wearing my Evan skin set:

I love that hair on him, but I don't recognize it. Which hair is it?

  • It looks like Agent Hair.

  • Ah, I didn't notice the morphs for that product. That would make sense.

:sigh: Oh, that would be the one I passed on due to having an M4/V4 set with the same name. Serves me right for not checking, now I'll have to wait for another sale. luci45 your Dylan is gorgeous. That render certainly oughta boost his sales. smiley
