trying out the models in a scene..... A Morning Fly
thank you Stezza and Bunyi
w.i.p. another try, "only" 8 mins with a i6700k
BTW Stezza it could be nice to appreciate your renders at higher rez
terrific to see this in situ Stezza - now to model the background city :)
@magaremoto lovely soft shadows - so much detail to get lost in
thx Headwax, another impressive set by SM
latest shot without IL
Great scene, the lighting looks great and populating it with scanned figures really brings it to life.
thanks Phil, actually in some of my monitors the image looks great, in some others it should be more contrasted or gamma adjusted, anyway what I like in carrara, and generally in photon mapping + irradiance caching, is the softness of shaded surfaces, very similar to human eyes; it's hard for me to have similar results in pure path tracing, where ambient occlusion is being strongly taken into account in every lighting conditions, unless you increase the number of light computations or such and wait a while
very cool... are those fill ins available or did you do them?
seems an easy way to populate a scene without using up all your resources
Here's Snoopy and the Red Baron - test render to see how it comes out looking..
if I recall correctly, I grabbed most of them here:
https://3dzip.org/
but I guess it's not a properly legal site
Really amazing! And I'm very impressed by yourreported render times.
Stezza, this render is so fantastic that I decided to track down and watch the 1967 Royal Guardsman music video. Who knew the Red Baron and Snoopy equals offensive? I was greeted with the following.
oh wow...
I actually posted that image with the original video the other day in the Art Studio board
I didn't get any notices.. hmm.. obviously the cat people are behind it all !
final result for the sunny setup
only 9 mins at 5k native rez; normalized in post
thx Diomede, well at high resolution you can get rid of some quality settings and have good results; in this case I didn't use IL nor AO, low Sky Light only, no light through transp, preview light mode etc
the following took only 9 mins, same time for the iray version
In max format as well... so no good for me..
anyways... did some more work on my Tiger Moth.. mainly the instruments panels, wheel housing and wheels and other odds and ends
I'll upload the newer version when I've done a bit more on it..
welcome back Chickenman - and thank you Stezza for the rubber chicken. Turns out I did have chicken models by Noggins.
I see what you've done there
Doggie Deer
final setup and render in 8K
24 mins, no issues at all
Here is a birthday present I made to someone very close to me.
This is unfortunately the only Gold and Diamonds I can afford.
dynamic hair video
a Christmas present from 3DU
thankyou Steve :)
Rendered in Carrara
Santa gets an upgrade ..
Varsel! Great post, and great to see you posting. As James Brown would sing, Santa’s got a whole new bag!
love the toon pug, Stezza. Hope it is still free. Thank you p, 3du
This is what I did on the train. The landscape between Washington, DC and Chicago during December looks nothing like this. Will use this as a backdrop and add foreground elements on the train tomorrow - I hope.
how can you render on a train? do they have a power outlet for your laptop?
Or are you lugging a big nicad battery around
There are some electric outlets in the cafe car where they sell sandwitches and snacks. If people are nice, you can take turns using the outlet to recharge.. The train bounces around too much to try to use the vertex modeler or an image editor or anything like that. But, there are some functions like the plant editor, the hair frizz shader, terrain filters, and similar that can be used even if on a bouncing train.
Well, I put something together with the landscape as a backdrop while sitting around waiting for the connection.
Wish I had a horse!

he blinks even in animation
has a rigged face
youtube video no hair
rendering with hair now
Wendy, it's very cool! He looks great and moves very naturally.
TY, I cannot take the credit for that though, it;s a truely awesome mocap and I am still trying to apply it to other figures
a video in Carrara and iClone
Wendy, great job. Love the dancing, but also like how you have wind blowing the hair, and the grassy field, really fun video.
very cool Wendy... I imagine that takes a while to render out..
