anyone able to model this item?

Possibly. Any pics for a size reference?

    best one i could find:

oh and this is the flux coupler that Garak killed Amaro with in the DS9 episode"Empok Nor".

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Flux_coupler?file=Flux_coupler.jpg

Thanks. Right now I'm working on a head/hair item which will hopefully be finished this week. Then I'll see about this item. If somebody wants to model it as well, that's fine with me. I've also been watching the Tholian Web ... interesting spacesuit. Anyway, Vulcans can so lie. That's the episode in which Spock does.

    Thanks :)

Got a start on it. The handle modeling is basically done.

    very nice :)

    Nice dagger, jag.

Here's the next in my long line of W.I.P.s. ROMULAN SOLDIERS!

I wanted to go for more of a Roman feel for the soldiers. Trying to do an update of the Roman armor for the Romulans. The helmet was downloaded here (forgive me, but for the life of me, I can't remember who did it). The armor is ice_boy's Geo Suit retextured by me. And, of course, the disruptor is courtesy of Bluto.

I'm asking about this now, because I'm going to need it for the next book: Wasn't someone working on a TOS movie-era spacesuit?

Got it. Being in Lightwave, I hope I can get it to import into Poser. What'd you use for the gloves and boots?

Yeah, I've known about that helmet/vest arrangement for a while. I presented this test render in one of the older threads before DAZ "upgraded" the store and forums. I used one of Shukky's spacesuits in this render.

This suit did not appear in the theatrical cut of the movie, but did make a brief appearance in the "extended special edition" that was broadcast on ABC. We see Kirk suiting up and a brief sequence of him exiting the airlock.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

What's the proper scale size to put it for Victoria and Mike 4'?

225% seems to work for me...

the boots are from daz they are the High Tech Trekker Boots for Michael 4

the answer will stay the same no matter how many different ways you ask it ,
check the freebies list at the starting page of this thread .
a good rule of thumb is to ask only if you dont see it on the list

That's okay if you're using M4. But I need something that'll work for V3 and M3. Have to see what I can find when I've more time.

Ther's no WOK verison, is there? I'm thinking they re-worked the chest area for ST II.

i think the only real differance is the helmet is more round there is a handle on the chest piece and the back plate is less pronounced

Sorry, been at work all day and the firewall blocks DAZ as a lingerie site.

The ship behind the...uh, I guess we can call it the "memory wall" suit as it was the one designed for an aborted sequence when both Spock and Kirk investigate the interior of V'ger together.

Anyway, the ship is just one of the refit Enterprise models MattyManx converted. I simply scaled it larger to "fit" the figure in the scene. It's the airlock behind the bridge module where the Vulcan shuttle docked.

Yes, the "memory wall" suit does share some features with Spock's "thruster suit" (as Chekov identified it in TMP), but the costume department didn't simply replace the "bike" style helmet for the "punch-bowl" visor. The chest piece is unique. The "MW" chest unit has a protrusion in the lower front and a similar jutting shape in the upper back to house maneuvering jets. True, the "thruster" suit chest unit also has jets in those corners, but they don't protrude from the main boxy shape.

I've seen drawings that would better illustrate (pun admitted) the differences, but silly me didn't think to download them. They obviously came from the same design team, so they don't "clash" with each other. In universe I guess one can imagine the same contractor supplied them and they are different models intended for specific needs.

Thankfully one design, while partially built did NOT make it to the final cut. The helmet for this abandoned concept literally looked like a water cooler bottle! I wonder if they actually used one as a kind of armature for a more refined structure? As it appeared in one snapshot and in a drawing you'd reason was meant to represent a finished product, it looked absurd, like something kids might use in a basement budget fan film.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

    Ah, here we are.

The first link shows images from the "memory wall" sequence. There's one shot with both Nimoy and Shatner in frame with their bodies turned a bit to the side, showing the protruding jet elements in the upper back.

    http://trekweb.com/articles/2010/09/13/Star-Trek-The-Motion-Picture-A-Closer-Look-at-the-Lost-Memory-Wall-Sequence-with-New-and-Rare-Photos.shtml

The second link is the Memory Alpha wiki discussing the final design we got. I could have just linked some TrekCore screen captures from the movie, but this page has drawings of the design.

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Thruster_suit_model

Finally, we have the water cooler bottle helmet "thing" I mentioned. Oy, I'm glad we didn't get that!

    http://ottens.co.uk/forgottentrek/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Rejected-spacesuit.jpg

Oh, the only difference between Spock's thruster suit in TMP and Chekov and Terrell's suits in TWoK was the addition of a convenient handle for Khan to seize and lift the poor Russian off the ground.

    Sincerely,

    Bill

    Thank you Y'all.

It is in fact my birthday. I'm slowly joining the ranks of the geriatrics and feeble minded.

On a side note, all items posted for download and links have been added to the list. Between this new job and my current issue of Mirror Universe and the Andoria's Secret collection I've been extremely busy. Thanks to all of you for your support and help in learning this craft.

Hard to believe I've been at this for four years already.

    Here's to 40 more!

    -Paul
