    Nice one,

If I had some combats I could do Col Kurtz from Apocalypse Now with that Ryuu body morph, it bloats the head as well as the body. Autofit is a godsend for fitting clothes to bodies.

BTW, I uninstalled Poser, I don't really need it now. I kept the Runtime just in case there's anything I need. Thing is, I got Vue to use Poser assets in it, and now I don't have them. Pity I spent so much on it really, ah well, didn't know at the time I suppose. Now, Bryce has a bridge to DS, so, perhaps I could use that instead, is it any good!?

Yeah, it's on my secondary external drive along with all the DSON'ed Genesis stuff.

I'd been trying for years to get the results I've been getting recently, Poser, for some reason, always felt like it was lacking something. With DS, I've hardly had to try at all to get what I feel is some of the best stuff I've ever done.

Thing is, every time I feel I've got to grips with figures, something else comes along that makes them even better. I really, really want to do complete scenes, but, I'm enjoying the figures too much. If someone does a female character with as many options as Axel and Ryuu that'll be me on portraits for the rest of the year, LOL!

I want Gen X next so I can put some of SAV's characters into Genesis. I already have a fabulous Kirsten Dunst he did which I want to add to S5.

I actually like the previous version of the render. The lights look a bit bright in the latest render. Funny, I have the same issue with EHSS and Daz Studio. lol I need to adjust the lights in Daz Studio often. Thanks for sharing the renders Rogerbee.

I alter the skin and it looks fine, and I am using Daz Studio and the HSS.

ok, maybe I'm not used to seeing skin with bright highlights and the EHSS. So the skin is reflecting the light in everybody's renders? I learned something new. I guess I'm used to viewing paintings at the museum. I'm going to look for a generation 3 skin to render now. Bye

Testing out velvet on hair. Seems to give a nice effect, though perhaps a too soft in places. The skin came out reasonably well, but it seems a bit pale so it looks like I'll need more testing with the subsurface scatter to get a better result.

    Nice,

Never thought of doing that. There is an UberHair Upgrade for UberSurface that could be worth checking out.

I don't yet have the UberHair upgrade yet. It's in my wishlist, but I have quite a long wishlist now, so who knows when I'll actually end up buying it.

Not really used that wishlist, but, I have been spending most of the past couple of days bookmarking future purchases, and boy will I be broke this year!

Window shopping aside, I have been able to do some renders,

There's Ryuu doing a spot of Kung Fu and Ghislane.

    Proper shopping tomorrow, yay!

I will be posting some new stuff soon. My past renders I feel have been a little too raunchy for this forum. Rendering a character using Lana elite is taking 5 hours with lux vs 10 to 12 minutes with Latinos lights 2 and DS but feel the wait is well worth it. You will see when I post...

I tried rendering Ryuu using indirect lighting for the UE light, but it ground to a halt, I'll stick to occlusion with directional shadows.

Looking forward to seeing your Lana.

Its quite something I find the lux results makes it alot more natural looking less cartoonish if that makes any sense. You are getting decent results using HSS like settings. When I tried applying HSS a while back my characters looked like bad cancer victims. (No offense towards anyone who may be suffering :)

I'd be interested in finding some good settings for skin materials with Lux. My problem is that they look a little flat and artificial at the moment. Whether that's down to poor lighting or otherwise I couldn't say, but since most of the characters I use don't have ACSEL shaders I'm having to manually play with them every time to try and get decent results.

It's hard to describe exactly what I find 'off' about the images, but 'flat' sums it up I suppose. As if the fine details seem to be smoothed over, almost airbrushed out. I've noticed your renders have the same sort of issue many of mine do, so perhaps it's something we have to live with until we get dedicated skin shaders, but it's still something which bugs me a little.

I strive for the ultimate in realism, where my art becomes almost indistinguishable from the real thing. The annoying thing is that I already know it's possible to do, I've just yet to learn how.

Same with me and I find 3Delight looks more cartoonish so I guess its how it looks to us...

Personally, even with the technology at our disposal we'll never break the 'uncanny valley' it took software way more sophisticated and expensive than ours for them to achieve that in Benjamin Button. I'd say we were close to Final Fantasy or Polar Express though, not bad for a free program!

I got a pleasant surprise with Reby Hair, not only did it autofit to V5, but, it retained all the morphs! If you recall, most morphing hair has morphs in either the head or the neck, locate that body part when the hair is autofitted and see what you find! You never know! Another thing that surprises me is that, with the amount of individual morphs in it, Genesis still takes no time at all to load. It'll have even more in it when I'm done with Gen X!

For animations, the tecnology required is pretty out there, but for stills we technically have all we need already. There have been some amazingly lifelike stills rendered from 3D models, of which one had me particularly convinced it was a portrait of a young girl. I think it might actually be possible, just very difficult to do.

As for Generation X, I'm absolutely loving it now that I've transferred my most loved morphs over. I've given individual icons to them all as well, so I never have trouble finding what I need. This young girl was made by blending in basic child with Kaelyn and Ella morphs. I've always preferred the younger Alice to the young woman in most of the subsequent remakes. It's a part of a render I'm working on currently, but I still need to finish some of the props and the playing card characters for the final piece.

    Nice work,

In Daz it is tough to get something totally real, even Reality doesn't quite get there yet. Who knows, maybe by DS7 and Genesis 2 we might get there.

For some reason, to me anyway, whenever anyone does a celeb morph, there's enough there for us to say it is who it is, but, even then, there's something not quite there somehow. I have, however, seen heads made for 1/6 figures that were initially done in ZBrush that you could mistake for the real people when painted. It is very possible the sculpts they do could be transferred to Genesis, but, sadly neither sculptor I spoke to owned Poser or DS.

One thing that did intrigue me was that Daz's Reby Sky never truly looked like her, even with all the technology they used, and then Catharina from Mec4D did her own and blew it out of the water. She had to modify it before it became Mamita, but, even now, it looks more like Reby than Daz's did. The thing with the Daz one was that it was all too symmetrical. I modded their head with Morphs ++ and V4 Ethnic Faces, putting back in all the irregularities there actually were in Reby's face, and I got as close as I could.

I've got Reby for Genesis now and will see what I can do in DS....

It looks like I have fixed crashes in my installation of Daz Studio Pro 4.5.1.56 by uninstalling it, rebooting the computer
and installing it again. To test the stability I have rendered a scene with candle and ambient lights from
    http://www.daz3d.com/by-candle-light-for-daz-studio
    and volumetric camera from
    http://www.daz3d.com/atmospheric-effects-cameras-for-daz-studio
The total rendering time was over 22 hours (but that included also time when the computer and I went to sleep),
so I estimate that the effective rendering time was around 13 hours.
It is a pity that the manual for "Atmospheric Effects Cameras for DAZ Studio"
    http://www.ageofarmour.com/3d/tutorials/AoA_atmospheric_cameras_help.html
does not include any example settings for the cameras, but just simple explanations of available parameters,
so one need to experiment a lot to find some good ones.
So here it is - Hiro 5 with the candles.

    Nice,

Now to find a quality tutorial for Gen X!
