press the 'make art' button ? :)

I looked all over DS 4.6 and I can't find it! (cry cry cry)

Is it a plugin? (puzzled face)

Is Render button. Just build a scene, add lights, work for hours getting everything just so, then click Render and wait... :D

    It's called Indigo :3
Is just no one has written an exporter for D|S yet (Or for Lightwave - for some mysterious reason. Well there is one, but it got abandoned a few years ago)

    Writing an exporter for one doesn't cost anything - just the application itself. If there was enough interest for it, we could very well see one eventually. I'm sure a lot of people would .... Um... Well okay I dunno how many people would enjoy it, but maybe if I did enough renders of it? ^_^;

Nice! Are those dinosaurs on the monitor and the picture hanging on the wall to the right as well? :) Or is that hanging picture Nessie?

    Dana

    They're dinosaurs =)
It's an entire world of dinosaurs XD Humans never existed :B

The pictures are both ones I made in the past:
---The picture frame: (The discontinued DAZ Elasmosaurus) http://sylxeriaguardian.deviantart.com/art/Elasmosaurus-Bay-281079997
Grand total of zero comments and only six favorites! *nuu*

---The computer wallpaper: (The Archaeopteryx wallpaper I made) http://sylxeriaguardian.deviantart.com/art/Archaeopteryx-Wallpaper-376851175

That's what unbiased engines are like - except the working for hours usually is getting materials set up and not getting render settings set up - generally the render settings consist of "On or off" ;P

The more complex engines will also include "How long do you want to render for" because pretty much all unbiased engines render for al eternity by default if you let 'em XD

OK, second drop.. playing with DOF more, changed out some materials here and there, still not happy though, there's no immediate sense of depth! (angry face)

Dang it, I know 3Delight is fully capable of producing photoreal renders.. argh meh.. aackkk

Are you using SSS or any volumetric mediums on the snakey? If so then it has to be a closed surface, as in no open holes. Otherwise the surface would produce not-so-real results. Most DAZ critter meshes - the human figures included - have a big gaping polygon hole in the eye area which you rarely see because there is a sphere - an eyeball - plugging it up. That won't count as a closed surface though ;P Primitives like that cone would be a closed surface though.

None of the shaders are true volumetrics, thankfully, or I'd post one image a month (lol)!

I suspect it's mostly my unfamiliarity with DOF and depth cueing that is causing me frustration. I've forgotten most of my 3D stuff and I can't expect to re-learn in a weekend.. (ugh face)

Last drop of the day - my laptop was starting to really heat up with render after render, but it has been educational. My old chops aren't back but I feel confident that I can re-learn enough to do Webcomics and not end up with my laptop on fire (scared face)!

Here's todays last test render drop - took 10 minutes to render, 3Delight shading rate 0.7, UE2 shading rate 0.5, ray bounces 6.

Is the nice thing (Or not so nice thing, depending how you view it) about unbiased renderers, is that they have no settings like shading rates, anti-aliasing values, GI/Radiosity/etc shots, or whatnot to set up. You just put a light or two in your scene, add a camera, hit render and you have art XD Usually :B

*edit* Made previous picture larger and rendered for longer. Still don't know what it is :B Matter Decompiler? Need to research Teleportation to build those though XD

Good point! was using Gemologica Tigers Eye and the displacement wasn't to my liking, but I think I need to find out how to put a procedural displacement into a shader.. argh.

Maybe I should give this all up and stick to text. (ugh face)

I can have a great career doing Poser Porn... (blank face)

Being an engineer, I'm a control freak. I want to set ray bounces, shading rate, depth of field, tiling, HDRI effects.. (blush)

It'd probably be nicer if I wouldn't poke my snout into every parameter! (bug eyed face)

I still want ot trreat DS like like Lightwave, but I grew up on LW.. (blush face)

    Oooh this is pretty cool...
    http://3dreality.atspace.cc/NK_materials.html

    "NK Materials

"NK" files store data about the optical properties of a material, as measured in a lab. They are available from several places on the internet, and store info mostly on various metals, glasses and some other materials."

Is a pretty old page though, since it still refers to Indigo as a "Free" render engine - which it used to be up until version 2.0

...stupid fraggin' rassin' sasssin' site software logging me out again!

OK, that out of my system (for now until it happens again).

The last pic of Leela, her sweetie and her daughter has become part of the end scene of the story. For most of last night, I was kept awake with a major revision of the "endgame" to the tale. It is tragic in a way, but, at the same time builds her character even more.

Damn, it's tough it when a story becomes bigger than reality and takes over your life. Leela has almost become a daughter to me.

Apologies from an old kid who finds themself moved by a little girl who never really existed.

A part of my world ended when Jaderail Died. Yes in the end of my 8 years of struggles he died in the end. Many others lived but I lost him when it was all said and done. I understand your closeness.
