Changed the sun angle because I didn't like the huge bleached glare in the atmosphere, added two Tyrannosaurs, a Spinosaur (Because they be awesome) and a flock of Archaeopteryx in the sky. =3

Blah... I picked the wrong day to be run over by the Arthur truck when it was loaded to the GILLS with Arthur bricks.

Missed (but read) the Wooly Olf ballad, KK got that bothersome render off the ground (it flies), Rezca wanders off to mesh world, where it ends I can only guess. Some stuff about Ski and Bushy tales up the nose and so much more I can not try to cover it all.

So that's my complaint. I hurt more than I remember ever hurting before in my life. Nothing has helped not even doctor allowed over amping of my meds, the suggested physical therapy to loosen the joints (pick one any one in the human body) earned my live in helper a special place in heck if my wishes have any weight at the time it matters. 24 plus hours of fully broken and darn near not able to enjoy much at all just is not right if you ask me. OKAY that's the full complaint.

I thank you all for making parts of my day better. Now about that writing thing Wooly, I'm a hack I know I'm a hack but nobody here read my BWC stuff anyway so I'll just shut up now while I'm ahead.

That really sucks, hope you are more comfortable by now

I love to visit my local bookstore, but I rarely read new fiction anymore. (choosing mostly 3D and digital art magazines instead).

In today's literary world the old maxim is wrong. You can judge a book by its cover. Just reading the cover blurb will let me know what bestseller is being cloned.

Normal girl falls in love with supernatural being.
Brave and abused girl triumphs over misfortune and insurmountable odds.
Young person with supernatural powers triumphs over evil.

These are cool themes and sometimes something original comes through, but how about Something Completely Different™ for a change?

I find what I read in these Forums much more interesting.

And I can only read the Classics so many times. : )

...well I will admit my story has some elements of the last two (after all it was spawned during an RPG campaign). Hopefully being a dystopic fairy tale written as a political thriller will give it that "difference" factor.

I'm sure that you aren't planning to "clone" an existing novel (or series of novels) because it's the kind of thing that sells at the moment. It is that type of behavior on the part of hacks and publishing houses that I was decrying, KK.
...doing my best not to (I hope). I avoid most mainstream stuff, even a lot of popular SF/Fantasy.

My intent is to just tell a story that has become very important to me, not make a living off of it.

You are right, book publishers, like film and television studios, are not into that, They want the tried and true formula that $ells. Even the bigger indie comic and graphic novel houses look for what will bring in zlotys from bookstores, comic shops, and subscriptions.

"Rhapsody in Shadow" (the working title) will be released on the Net for free as I am basing it loosely on elements and the setting/time frame from the Shadowrun RPG (3rd ed) and I don't care to deal with hiring (or paying) an attorney and agent to wrangle all the legal agreements.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea, I expect that. It may "step on toes" at times, I expect that too. It is a "dark fairytale" which deals with both controversial and sensitive issues. One about war waged on different levels as well as the senselessness of ethnic hatred and futility of greed. It is also one of hope, for I personally feel we could be heading towards a new "dark age" similar to that postulated in the dystopic setting of the Shadworun world.

    @The three above posts: Yes indeed, Indigo produces some nice caustics out of simple object like that. It's pretty fun but can take ages to render ^_^;

Here's some more from other Indigo users ...

Dinos, and caustics, and Olaf.. OH MY! (shock face)

Today dawned bright and hot, looks like it's going to be a Texas scorcher out there. Fortunately I have enough food that I don't need to leave my nice cool room at all, and I don't intend to!!

Today: install content and render, copy the Olaf/Pike saga to my Red Room account, nap (heh) and nibble. Hopefully get a render or two in as well!

Still recovering from 2 weeks of insane stress, we had a Situation(tm) where if I didn't get this software finished,t he factory in China wouod stop ship - losing us tons of money every day. (ahhhh face) Turns it it was: (a) First test units had hardware problems; (b) The original code had undiscovered bugs covering p other bugs; and (c) the tester software had been written such that the bugs would never be detected, it was "bug-compliant"! (ahhh face) Got it all working late Friday afternoon (figures) so I'm de-stressing today. But I guess that's why I get the big bucks. (blank face)

Back to my coffee, sausage, and cheese! (grin)

i almost installed Daz Studio 3 on my netbook. i had second thoughts when i saw that the netbook has a 900 MHz celeron mobile processor. lol. If I think my 1.8 GHz computer is slow, then the netbook will be slower. Even Gimp is slow on the netbook.

on the topic of shaders: i can make my own shaders in shader builder in Daz studio. now I just need to find some tutorials. Oh, I found one tutorial: Shader Builder

Shader play drop! Took 6 minutes to render on my dual-core i5 laptop, not bad. Also experimenting with depth of field, backgrounds, and environmental lighting.
