There must be a good reason (or at least some reason) why DAZ can't host the smileys for the Forums on their own servers.
    Right?
    Right?

I don't know if I'd wait for that answer. I don't know if there is one. (answer or reason)

ETA: AC/DC doesn't like MP3s. Yep. You have to buy the CDs and rip your own. I did.

Complaint: One of my friends got fired from his job (By his father no less) after some years of always being paid below minimum wage, and the next-closest place he can find to get a new job is a 20 minute drive away... But his car is breaking down and in ruin (Given to him by his father, again. The thing was a wreck to begin with.)

...turned out what I ran into on DA this weekend was apparently a site wide issue that occurred. No details were given but others I spoke with also said that it did have the characteristics of an account hack (leads me to wonder if the site itself may have been hacked).

Released everything form storage only to run into another bug.

While all the works that were in my custom galleries, faves, and group submissions went back where they belonged, nothing appears in my Featured gallery anymore. This means when someone clicks on the "Browse Gallery" button there is nothing to see except the thumbs for the few custom galleries I have. The other works are there but now seem to require clicking thought several menus and categories to view which is really cumbersome.

...not going to get a lot of new views this way.

Filed yet another bug report (this one actually submitted on the first try) as it makes no sense that the featured gallery was not restored as well.

A hack is not surprising to me at all. All of these 3D sites have the same weakness in common. You arrive on a plain page...not an encrypted one. This leaves you vulnerable to a "man in the middle" attack. It doesn't matter if you get an SSL protected page to log in or not...if you can get to the site under plain http: mode, you're vulnerable. I'm sure more of these attacks will occur as time goes by. That's why I changed my site. Now, you don't get served a page until it's in secure mode...you can't get to my site with plain http: mode. I read about this a few months ago and immediately began investigating a way to force SSL coverage right away.

No, they have to do that. I have my website protected, that's what I was saying. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I don't even have an account there. If memory serves me, DA has had issues like this in the past. They'd probably have a lot worse issues if the content was something that a larger part of the general population was involved in. Being a niche thing, the 3D sites are probably at least partly protected from the full force of the hacking community.

Instead of HTTP you stick HTTPS to the URL. Boomark it. Whenever you need to login or go there, use HTTPS instead of HTTP.

It's not consistent, because DA doesn't force it. Click on a link to one of the things on the left, like Plain Weird...it goes to an http: page. Use her suggestion for logging in anyway. That should protect your password. But don't expect it to stay in https: mode as you navigate around, it obviously doesn't.

...one would think after what happened this weekend, and the issues with "art theft" that happened a couple years ago they'd install more protections. As long as you stayed on the site (didn't click a link in a description that took you off site) they should still be in effect.
