OMG Vicki 6 already, That totally caught me off guard. I got Genesis2F and the Morphs head/body... While Its sad no genesis(1) morphs carried over to 2F, I do gotta say She's a nice figure, some good improvements in terms of detail and the morphs.

SKI, has you found any hints of Genesis2M at all amoung your teaser searches?

There's a thread for porting morphs over yourself.

    Nope, I have not.

You can transfer morphs from G1 to G2 see (http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24093/) but it would be nice if there was a tool or script that could handle it for you.

As for the not storing things in the cloud from a few pages back. You do realize that "cloud" is just a marketing term for a network accessible computing system right? The internet itself is part of the "cloud" so storing your data in the "cloud" is a requirement.

Storing your data on a server that you don't control can carry risks but 95% of the websites out there do just that. In fact I'd bet that any site you visit, except for Google, Microsoft of Amazon is probably hosted by someone else. The actual data for a lot of major sites is actually stored on Amazon's servers and uses their S3 service. Many major corporations do the same thing. Large server farms are expensive to build, expensive to maintain and hellishly expensive to run when you factor in power and cooling requirements.

I will agree that allowing a 3rd part to setup and maintain your online shop when that is the main way you do business may not be the smartest way to go. Putting it on someone else's servers is one thing, counting on them to code things properly is a whole different kettle of fish.

And from the looks of it Daz kind of threw the forums out there for the community but doesn't actually have a lot to do with them. They run on Expression Engine which is a fairly standard forum app. That being the case it's fairly easy to see that the emoticons are controlled by a file that points to where the actual images are stored. It looks to me like what happened is either someone changed the pointer file to point to a new location in preparation for moving some things around but the move never happened or someone moved the icons themselves without changing the pointer to show the new location.

Either way it should be a 5 minute fix tops.

I won't be repurchasing stuff I have for G1 for G2, I can't see the point. Most of the clothing I've gotten works well with autofit and there is nothing that is G2/V6 specific that is that much different from what I already have. If there turns out to be a morph I just have to have to do a render that just has to have G2 in it I'll figure out the porting thing but I don't see that happening anytime soon. The main reason I purchased any characters for G1 was so that I could get the skin textures that went with them (same for V4 mostly) With the V4 for G2F tool I can use pretty much all of the V4/V5 skins I have so no need to buy any new characters.

I'll probably be using primarily G1 for the time being, it does everything I need. I did do a closeup render of a dial spun G2F that I though was really good. I like the fact that I can get asymetrical faces now so when I need a picture of a unique character I'll probably use that.

Still, I don't see the point of the V6 packages. I don't really like the V6 character itself and the skin isn't much of an improvement over the Bree skin that comes with the base G2F. The hair's are meh, I've got tons of hair that seems to autofit just fine. The other two characters in the pro pack aren't that impressive (again I look at skin more than morphs) and both require the morph pack that's not included. The clothing is nothing new so meh.

I purchased the G2F head and body morph combo pack along with the V4 to G2F conversion tool and I can do pretty much everything I need to for about $20.00.

I think Daz's biggest mistake with this release was calling it Genesis 2. If they'd just announced a new base female shape along with V6 there would have been a lot less outrage. You still might have thought meh but you wouldn't have the angry red face.

Sorry, haha, I didnt intend to start a debate on the matter in the fun complaints/stupid threads. I can certainly understand where you're coming from, I did see the forums flooded with rage lately (I was in silent lurk mode haha), many points raised... I myself agree.

I only got the two morphs packs, to give this figure a try. Its certainly improved as a figure itself... But I dont consider part of the genesis legacy. Genesis(1) Remains my go to figure. :)

True - if I'd seen "New! Vicky 6! New female base figure!" I'd have said "Oh, ok, do not need but is fine" instead of "ARGH THEY RUINED A GOOD THING", and I would be red face free.

It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Meh.

    Lolz!

It wasn't so much excitement, more shock then anything, I hadn't expected it, and certainly didn't expect it to be backtracking to single gender like the generations prior to genesis. I never envisioned Genesis's successors being so far from what genesis is all about.

Owell, maybe the next one will be the real genesis successor haha

I've decided I'm going to hold out for Victoria 13, with Dynamic Jiggle(tm), and Michael 13 with Morphing Toast(tm).

Until then I'll make do with V5/M5/V4/4/A4/S4/F4... (heh).

And a KILOMETER LONG PIKE as well as a GIANT CHICKEN!!

Although Dinorauls new T-Rex would make an incredible giant chicken for poor Olaf to fight, since he seems to have been cursed to end up battling dinosaurs.. heh heh. (evil grin)

Complaint: allergies acting up and the Sudafed I took is making me feel wonky. Blech.

I expect the next generation will be called Daz Basic Shape (Daz BS). The Daz Basic Shape(tm) will be able to morph into, literally, anything.

All people will be replaced with Daz BS(tm). You will see nothing but Daz BS(tm) in the store, and your emails will be filled with Daz BS(tm). In time, everything will be Daz BS(tm) and you will learn to love Daz BS(tm).

You SURE you don't want to go to that nice, shadowed, air-conditioned room with drinks that have tiny umbrellas in them? With a comfy chair that doesn't heat up one's posterior on a day like this?

Actually, Brian Johnson (lead singer) lives in Florida near Miami. Maybe we can go down there with a certain "pike" and convince him to change his mind.

On that note, how about Olaf and the Peacock?

SubDragonLE with the Peacock shaders from the store.

Dynamic Jiggle? There's a deformer for that in Cinema 4D (all editions too!).

Only downsides are that it truly is dynamic - other than restricting where you want jiggling with weight maps, it's fully automated.
Second downside is it requires motion to work. Faster and more sudden movement produces more extreme jiggling.

Dynamic Jiggle is also known as Soft Body dynamics in some situations :)
Saw a video by (Dimension Theory?) doing that with M4 I think in Carrara a looooooooooooooooooooooo.... *takes deep breath* oooooooooooong time ago. It was pretty amusing :3

I'm fairly sure Olaf would have little interest in fighting a peacock, but a DRAGON peacock might entice him!

    Cool shaders, wishlisted!

I actually (and oddly) just bought a morph package for Genesis that allows one to simulate breast and glute motion. I have similar morphs for V4, so I guess if I were in a weird mood I could make a bouncy, pneumatic Vicky...! (evil grin)

True soft body dynamics would be cool, but I'm not holding my breath for them to appear in DS.

i remember reading somewhere that 3D graphic programs store a copy of 3D data in both VRAM and system RAM. i'm tempted to install Genesis 2 to see how much memory she uses.

don't worry, i have a video card with 512 MB of RAM from 2007. haha I think Genesis 1 takes 100 MB of VRAM. I have to double check.

Time to stock the fridge up with beer, fill the ice cube trays, and hide indoors all weekend! Yikes! (bug eyed face)

    In re the "feeling wonky":
How can you tell? (Limps slowly away)

Complaint: I am going to the foot and ankle specialist tomorrow morning. If history is any indicator, I will be limping and bloody when I leave. I am a diabetic with a blister on the bottom of my foot. This is potentially very bad, but will probably be OK.

Ugh, poor you! Yes, foot injuries of any kind on a diabetic are bad news - I've been taught how to deal with such things, so thankfully when I get any issues I grab my medical kit and go to town. So far, so good.

I sure hope they can fix you up and get you going again!

They don't even sell MP3s on their own official website, just CDs.
