"A dear friend's cat is in need of life-saving eye removal surgery for an ocular tumor. He was unexpectedly laid off recently and unfortunately the $1400 pricetag on this surgery is way outside of what he can afford right now. I've been trying to raise awareness and seek donations for the poor kitty, so I created the below IndieGoGo account to help him out. The alternative to this surgery is putting the cat down. If all of my watchers donated fifty cents we'd have it more than covered. (Not that I expect that, but it's a nice thought.) I set up an IndieGoGo account to try and raise money for the surgery. If you have it in your heart to spare even just a tiny bit, my friend and his cat would be forever appreciative."

I donated $25 since is all I can afford at the moment...

But eeesh... A tumor behind the eye?! That sounds all sorts of painful ><</div>

    Aw no fair

My cat had to have surgery at one point, but it was only a broken leg D:
Was not "only" to your kitty (but you knew that). Sympathies to furries all around.

It really is heart-breaking when one of (general) our furry friends gets injured or falls sick. In case of humans, humans at least can rationalize it somehow -- "I was tooling around on a slippery rock, slipped and broke my arm, dumbass me" or "Cancer happens because of X, Y and Z"... but animals seem to flip into "Mommy/Daddy-twolegbeast, I'm in pain, why am I in pain, please make it go away, I don't understand why this is happening to me" mode, or go into hiding to lick their wounds, either to get better or to die. :(

living with elderly pets takes a lot of extra considerations. my bubby is on a treat shedule to keep his spirits up. doggies can get depressed too. and mega bored.

And because this is the internetz, the cat piccy is obligatory. This was taken on this Tuesday, with Orcus sitting on the driveway as we were preparing to leave to the store with my mother-in-law, and Orcus is pondering if he should move his ass out of the way or not.

He did not, and therefore, SO had to do some careful driving around him as he refused to move even his tail.

On a lighter note: I found this cute photo a while ago.

Leetle snakey was crossing the living room, and the housecat was examining it.

can we contact Australia High Command about this?

They don't even sell MP3s on their own official website, just CDs.

If you sign on to their myspace you can play all the tracks you want https://myspace.com/acdc/music/songs

Don't worry, Orcus is just... ornery, y'know? He knows when to really move aside, but he's not going to do it until he must. He was just crabby 'cuz the dog was giving him a hassle earlier.

Speaking of the dog! Here's two pictures of her. The first one shows why I call Hilla as "a spinning top with a tongue and tail attachment" and the second one shows that dim little spark of some sort of wit she occasionally exhibits. (She's pretty, cute, friendly, loves people, but man alive she was behind the door when intelligence was handed out to animals.)

3 kilos is quite a halibut! A smack from that would leave quite a mark! (aack face)

O M G! They're calling for 100F+ temps for the rest of the week, with 106F forecast for tomorrow and 105F on Saturday!!

Time to stock the fridge up with beer, fill the ice cube trays, and hide indoors all weekend! Yikes! (bug eyed face)

Yep, another fine Texas Summer. (blank face)

...we're finally going to get some Texas Spring Weather™ this weekend. Being rather thin blooded and arthritic, looking forward to it.

That's not too bad. Today is going to be blazing hot here, unhappily I have to make a bank run at lunch so I'm going to be broiled by the time I get back to the office... ugh.

It looks like she might have a bit of german shepherd in her. Shepherds are some of the dumbest dogs I've ever encountered. When I was a kid one of our neighbors had one that found half a brick and would carry it around for a bit, then for no reason throw it up in the air and stand there while it came down on her head. She'd be dazed for a couple of seconds then pick it up and do it all over again.

She's a dogpourri or Heinz, however you want to say it. :D

But yes! There's German Shepherd on both sides of her mixed breed. We've been found out that this specific blend is quite complicated: German Shepherd, Akita Inu, Samoyed Dog, Siberian Husky, and three other breeds I do not recall. Her parents were of mixed breed. THEIR parents were of mixed breed too...

Heh, got an email from Amazon saying a game I pre-ordered had it's release date changed by the developer and I laughed when I saw the date (Estimated earliest July 7th, for the shipping/arrival date)

The reason I laughed when I read this was because the game's developer is Bungie, and they've got this "holiday" their company celebrates the same way one would Christmas or Halloween - Bungie Day: July 7th :P

I can't remember if they've ever released a game on that special day before though, but if they're aiming on doing that with this one... Heh.

    They loves their number seven.
