Avocado bacon burger not too bad, a bit mild for me - there's a touch of bite in the pepper sauce but otherwise it's tasty but not spicy. I give it a B+.

Been watching trailers for real bad movies. "Sharktopus", which is a movie about a half shark/half octopus monster that goes around eating people in the ocean, then eating people on the beach, then coming out of the water and just generally eating people. Over the top stupid, probably be a good six-pack movie. The "Sharknnado" about.. a tornado full of sharks. Definitely a WTF, who paid to have this made.. oh.. Syfy. Coes out this week and looks like a fun time if you're really stoned. And finally.. "Bonnie and Clyde vs. Dracula". Yes, this is a thing, and it actually looks amusing in a campy way,. Might chase it down for the weekend!

None of these can beat "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus", where the shark took out a coming in to land 747 stilll 1000s of feet in the air, and also bit a huge chunk of the Golden Gate Bridge out. GO GIANT SHARK, GO!

Off to watch TV, then early to bed. 6:30am came too soon today and it's going to come too soon tomorrow... (frownie)

I still love Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! Another great one was Killer Klowns from Outer Space. And an older one, The Stuff. C.H.U.D. was pretty silly, too.

    Dana

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes definitely one of my all-time fave B movies! Killer Klowns creeped me out, but I have a clown phobia so no surprise there.

I swear, I'm gonna throw a pile of money on the credit card tomorrow, load up on beer and popcorn Friday, and do a B movie marathon this weekend! The worse, the better! (smirk)

Complaints: I just got handed all of a project I was only working 50% on, so now I have yet more dreck to learn to go along with the other 2 whole projects I'm working on! And every OTHER software engineer is dedicated to a single project! Oh my aching brainnnnnn... more coffee NOW! (32oz coffee cup emote)

Non-complaint: I guess they intend on keeping me until I Drop Down Dead(tm) or the company folds, so that's a nice thing. Gives me time to pay off debts, build up savings, and recover from the past six months of medical insanity. Plus it keeps my brain flexible, learning new things even at my age (lol).

Minor whine: I have a sick urge for Chinese food. I might have to shop on the way home and pick up some chicken breasts and black bean sauce (and maybe SriRacha sauce) to make some chicken in black bean sauce!! I wonder if I can get bean sprouts? (blank face)

Sigh - downloaded all my V4 armor and weapons (M3/M4 too) from Daz and Rendo. One other thing to buy tonight - beer! Beer and content installation go hand in hand (smirk)!

..re: Forsaken Daughter is Watching You.

Thank you everyone. As I mentioned that scene was more than a year in the making. Even preliminary test renders on my old system would crash and that was just with the "Daddy" and "Kelly" figures. This is an important scene in her story where she eventually confronts the man that abandoned her in Portland eight years before because she threatened his personal ambitions due to what she was.

A little (right...) explanation, of the setting and background:

In the world of Shadworun the old races return though into a world of sociopolitical and corporate intrigue but also with incredible tech and mystical power. North America fractiionalises into a continent of smaller nations, including those run by the original native tribes west of the Rockies. In the Pacific Northwest Seattle is like a "Hong Kong" for the UCAS (United Canadian - American States which is comprised of the remaining states in the east above teh old Mason Dixon line and eastern Canadian Provinces (save of course for Quebec which finally goes independent).

To the immediate south of the Salish lands is the Tir Taringire, (Formerly Oregon and a sliver of Northern California to Shasta). This land was founded as a haven for what became known as "Metahumans" (elves, dwarves etc.) which were persecuted by racist "Pure Humanity" groups that sprung up. At first it was a great idea however the elven factions (corruption knows no bounds) eventually seize control of the new nation even practising discrimination against other metas. In retaliation for the atrocities that perpetrated by the racist organisations (some which reasonable amount of political clout), humass were regarded as the "enemy" by the council of princes an never to be trusted. Border crossings were limited and non elf citizens were basically herded into Portland which was separated from the rest of the nation by a ten meter high wall with high tech surveillance and security measures. Travel from outside the nation was tightly restricted The bridges across the Columbia River closed off and the main way to enter the nation was to fly in. The only means of land entry/exit was the old I-5 bridge which had numerous physical and electronic security countermeasures as well as a station manned by the Tir military affectionately called "Checkpoint Charlie").

    Sound familiar?

Outside of Portland, the population was primarily elves with humans making up but a fraction of one percent. Little Kelly was one of those. One of a pair of twins born to a fairly prominent couple in the Capital of Salem. Her father, Sean (the man who is the central focus of the picture) was an eminent geneticist, and when he learned one of his daughters was to be human, began genetic treatment to try and transform her appearance (genetics in the world is that advanced) before she was born. Well it sort of worked but not totally. Her parents at first did their best to get her accepted, using their social standing as leverage. Sean's pioneering work in genetics had caught the attention of not just the council but the High Prince himself and he was put on the fast track to Tir Nobility (one could rise in social standing by making significant contributions to the quality of life of Tir citizens [read elves] and to the nation). His wife was a senior matrix engineer at onw fo the Tir's major firms as well as a consultant to the university

The one potential stumbling block to his success was Kelly.

As the child grew towards her teen years it was seen she was not going to fit in. her grades at the academy were poor to mediocre, she was shunned by those who once were friends, and soon became the scapegoat for things that went wrong in school by both her classmates and faculty alike. Meanwhile her father' was being pressured by his closest associates to"deal" with the issue of his human daughter. Eventually political ambition would win over family bond.

One of the side effects of the prenatal treatments manifested itself in a learning disability which contributed to her poor academic performance. Where she shined was in physical and athletic pursuits being an ace gymnast and very adept with martial arts (which she took a strong liking to). That however was not enough. For young people to become full citizens of the Tir they had to undergo a battery of tests both physical and academic on reaching the age of 18. It was the latter which she would never succeed at. In fact no human had ever completed the regimen (of course the tests were often rigged to discriminate). Kelly was finally was expelled form the academy for her poor academic performance and "frequently disruptive" behaviour. In the eyes of her father and his associated, she had become an embarrassment.

She was restricted to home, and rarely allowed to go out with the family in public. Her father had taken to alcohol to deal with the mounting stress of living up to his peers' expectations. He began mistreating her, frequently blaming her for anything that went wrong. After one of his closest confidants finally laid it on the line that the human girl was in the way of his future, he decided to act. Kelly couldn't understand why her father was had become so angry with her and tried everything to please him but seemingly to no avail.

Before she was born he had the option of euthanisation, but at the time couldn't bring himself to it. Now he was faced with living in humiliation or freeing himself of his burden. Even though humans were the lowest "caste" in Tir society, outright murder was still murder. Just dumping her off in Portland however wasn't, well if she was an adult. Eventually he came up with a plan (with the help of associates) that Kelly was to go to a boarding school in Portland. once there he would just abandon her then make up a story that she ran off when they made a stop for food.

After farewells to her mother and twin sister (who were totally unaware of the plot) she was taken to the Lloyd district in Portland (once one of the city's finest shopping centres but now a haven for "squatters" and gangs). Unawares twelve year old Kelly got out to wait for him to get the "paperwork" but then shut the door and sped off to leave her to her fate.

The report of her running away was filed and a search commenced, however carefully directed by a couple of associates, Several weeks later a badly mutilated body of a young girl about her age was "discovered" in the Eastgate District (a major gang activity area) which tested "positive" for her genetic signature. There was a funeral and the case was closed.

...sort of (but that is another story as it was difficult enough to condense the above from the 110 page novella that her back story grew into).

    Flash forward:

In the scene, her father is meeting with a member of a Seattle elven gang after hearing stories this mysterious small young white hared woman who "haunted' the shadows there. What caught his attention were reports of increasing attacks on members of the local elven gangs there by this elusive modern day "Ronin". What Sean failed to take into account when he abandoned her was his daughter was an "awakened" individual known as an adept, basically a specially gifted individual (as she was human she was never tested for the trait after birth as all elven children are).

In the scene, she is "masking" her presence while her father and the elf wireboy discuss the most recent sighting and his goons keep watch.

He may not have found her yet, but she found him.

Kelly was my longest surviving character I had from the Shadowrun RPG (actually any RPG I played), with a career that spanned four revisions of the rules, both Harelquin campaign arcs, and over ten years (even making an appearance in a D&D 3rd ed campaign - sans her six guns). Her story is like I mentioned above, literally a story itself which unfortunately resides on an HD of an old notebook that died. I have to find a way to hook it up to extract the file as it is an old IDE rather than SATA drive.

I snipped after reading, please forgive me. But I find it odd that the two of us have so much of our life's invested into RPG characters. If any person asks I still can not really explain why my 8 years as Jaderail in a Game became so important to me. Only others who have done this really know.

Wonderful! Render KK, and I'm always looking forward to more renders and bits of the story. TY for this.

It's just annoying to an engineer brought up on the importance of user-friendliness and fit-and-finish on customer-facing apps. It violates my sensibilities, really. (argh face) Blame my 35 years programming, it's ruined me! (cry cry)

Oh and it took me 3 tries to preview this without it going to my dashboard. That's just plain old every day amateur engineering. I grew out of that after 3 years of hardcore app development Daz/Magneto/Cloudflare makes me wonder if they're run by underpaid interns from high school.

...no, it's just bad programming. the Forums never used to log you out before. Supposedly there is a Forum Login page separate form the Store one, but I have not seen it in over seven months.

As I understand the software they are using for the forums is not Magento but some other piece of total rubbish that as was explained to my by someone from Daz was a "temporary" solution. Yeah, like "Daz Soon"

I understand the fit-and-finish thing, but for logging on...as I said, it's a security thing. I'd say it's especially important on these 3D sites, because a whole lot of the users go to hotspots, or use shared computers, or sometimes visit from a work computer. If they leave their desk someone could get in and order things or delete things from the wishlist, or download things from the Product Library page and copy them off to a USB stick or something. They could also post something in a forum thread that is against the TOS and get the person kicked out. I repeat, I'm not that upset with being logged out after a timeout period. To be honest, it's only a band-aid as far as security goes. As long as you can hit the site in plain mode, there's always the possibility of a man-in-the-middle attack. I made changes to my site that insure that that will not happen...the first request your browser makes for my site is changed to secure mode before the requested page is served, whether you requested in secure mode or not. This is a problem with all the 3D sites I am registered on.

I tend to agree with you about the Magneto and Cloudflare thing, and even the DAZ programmers seem to make some amateurish mistakes.

Bowing out of thread... sort of pointless to post here now I see.

    Why do you say that?

...huh? this is THE place to air one's moans and gripes.

Just because a lot of us are currently annoyed about the perpetual log offs and misdirects when trying to post or even preview what we wrote and our frustrations are aimed at the forum/site software doesn't mean we don't have a legitimate bone to pick.

He did make a comment on your render and character's back story and such. Perhaps he hoped for some discussion on his thoughts. But this thread moves so fast, and people miss posts all the time. It's not easy to keep up in here.

Morning. Nearly afternoon really. Gots a cold so doing cold stuff, sleeping, keeping warm, chicken soup, sleeping :o)

Good day! I hope you're feeling better! (coffe cup emote)

Frigging Magneto logged me out. This site sucks.

It's annoying, but I'm not that upset with being logged out. It's a security thing, and I'm on board with that. But last night I tried 5 or 6 times to post and it wouldn't, it kept going to my account page. That is ridiculous! That's something that should not be happening.

I repeat, I'm not that upset with being logged out after a timeout period. ...that is the individual user's responsibility not the host or other members who are inconvenienced because of these flaky individuals. If they are dumb enough to leave their computers open in a public place while unattended and/or not password protect their personal profiles on multiuser systems, then they deserve what they get. It's the individual user who needs to practice 'Safe Surfing".

I for one have a low tolerance of paying for and being inconvenienced by the the stupidity of others. I am sick and tired of clicking "Submit" only to be sent to the login page after which I am redirected to my account page every time thus losing what I wrote and the place where I was in the forums/thread.

I'm sorry, but the needs of the many outweigh the stupidity of the few.
