I have to say my credit card is really loving this sale. By this point last year I had spend $52, this year I've spent $0.

And, having shoved my foot deep in my throat, let me say that if you want a holistic view of ALL the discounts available on DAZ at this moment, please drop by my site. I seriously try to be helpful, and am not an advertising site. If you're willing to trust me (entirely optional!) my software will even send you emails once a day with items on your wishlist that are newly discounted that day, or flash sales that happen generally within an hour of them starting.

For example, did you know that the Timeless Fairy Bundle is 66% off right now? Or that there are 4 items at 69% off for PC members, Carrara 8.5 Pro, Hiro 3.0 Mega Bundle, Hiro's Anime Poses, and Safari Furniture for Kids4?

    ...

To me the DAZ experience is gone..where are the coupons when BYU wins, what happened to the special bundles. I didn't find any fun in March Madness and this PA sale is a dud for me... not sure why... I think it is that the forums are now mostly for help which is good.. and the DAZ store is a store and I need to look at it as a store and not the destination I used to think of it as. So its more me that needs to change my thinking... DAZ can do whatever makes sense for them as a company. I will buy M6 when he gets here... but I am so tired of all these female figures and clothes.

My disappointment with the sale is it really isn't affordable for me. I may be able to buy 1 item occasionally, but I don't want to blow my whole budget in a matter of days because I must buy 3

I have waited for a while for one of Flipmode's sets to go on sale during this sale. But I do not need anything from any of the other PA's on sale at the same time. So I'm outta luck.

I honestly wish, if I HAD to purchase 3 items to get 50% DAZ would let me choose which 3 items from which 3 vendors.

That would at least allow me to choose things on my wishlist I wanted to buy.

You don't have to buy the three new releases specifically - any three items, from any of the featured artists (yesterday's or today's, as I understand it) get you the 50% discount on all, and any 2 get you 40% off.

With a buy-any-3-get-50%-off sale, it makes folks who want the 50% off actually dig into the back catalog of some of the other same-day artists. Sure, YOU (nameless reader) don't want to, because you're just looking for a fix of the one name you care about, but the folks who seem to be buying DO. And I imagine (or perhaps I hope!) that makes it less bitter to have a discounted sale that goes up against TheAntFarm or any other major Name.

...however it puts those on limited budgets at a serious disadvantage (and there are quite a few of us here) as we cannot afford to drop 40 - 50$ (or more) in one day of purchasing and even 30% for a single one can still be a stretch. The economy is still very flat in many areas and a lot of us are having to watch our expenditures. Some (who were avid buyers) are even out of work because of it. Another issue is the fact that any item by the day's featured PA (like say Valandar or Jack Tomalin) which is priced under 3$ is excluded makes it that more difficult to receive the extra 20% in savings and still get something useful.

No, these sales are now for the "high rollers" not us "nickle slot" players.

I like AntFarm's idea of a win your entire wishlist drawing (I'd even be happy with half of my wishlist)

Thanks for your detailed response, Morgan, and thank you for the link to your really helpful site. This service pleases me much more than the PA sale, and I am sure I'll use it frequently!

I admit that you have some sound arguments. But I insist: I want and I need clear and upright informations; anything else is a waste of time for me. If a sale requires endless calculating, I loose interest. And I will not buy something I don't need and don't want just to have something else cheaper. This doesn't make sense.

But there are other and much nicer ways to save money at DAZ. PC, for example. PC is a constant source of pleasure. This membership really pays for me. Wonderful models at wonderful prices! :-)

Yes. What I meant though, and forgive me if I was initially unclear, but If I must buy 3 items, why only from the 'featured artistis?'

DAZ will still get a three item purchase, but I have more chances of finding stuff I want to buy and using this promotion a lot, when I can pick which vendors items, instead of only choosing from the featured ones, which may or may not have anything I want that day, thus leaving me not purchasing anything..

I can understand the anchoring (a big name store being there to draw in customers) and by limiting it to that day's vendors, the smaller PA's are helped. So why not expand that day's artists to say, NINE- and still keep 2 days worth? With 18 stores, they'd get sales.

The site works fine for me, I used it just today to find some DAZ originals that are showing a bigger discount than usual and it was very helpful (thanks, Cypherfox!), without this site it would take me ages. But I don´t sign in, I just use it as it is.

When you want to see only a specific discount (say 70 %), you must disable all others by clicking on buttons with the respective discount %. All discounts show including PC discount for me, I don´t know if they show differently for others. If you want to view items that are a part of the current PA festival, you must look at items labeled "30 %", since the discounts in 3D Wishlist show only discounts that are visible in store (but for 50 % discount you must buy 3 items and the discount will be only visible in your cart).

I still prefer the old 'ala carte' way of holding the PA sale. There is no pressure to pick up multiple items, or to meet the 3 item goal to get a discount.

I think if you really want to encourage people to buy from lesser known PA's discounting all vendors and not forcing buyers to buy 3 of something, would do the trick. Then it wouldn't matter who was on sale what day.

Now the sad reality, is who is on sale in combination with who does matter. If I don't find 3 of something- then I'm not making the purchase. I'll hold out until I can get a better deal.

My guess: major catch-up at end of month with all PAs covered simultaneously. If you don't buy today, you'll probably get a chance to mix and match to your heart's content later on.

Same here. Only 2 items I have been waiting for came up today and Merlin only knows when or even if I'll find a third to get the discount that used to be standard during the PA Sale. Think maybe I'm better off waiting for the catchup sale at the end -- if that doesn't get somehow shagged up too. :sigh: Not holding out much hope for October, if this is the way it's gonna be from now on.

To make this sale different than every other sale run every week this year, DAZ should consider:
For PC Members: 70% off PA items (like FastGrab) with 80% off of DAZ Originals
For Non-PC Members: 40% off PA items; 50% off DAZ Originals
    No minimum quantity purchase

I would have just liked it 50% off everything, new item and store. No need for calculators lol.

EDIT: never mind. I was just grousing because I thought I bought something yesterday and accidentally didn't hit the "confirm purchase" on paypal and missed out. I guess it happens.

...but as I've seen, usually that is only at the 30% discount, which again is more than many can or are willing to pay for.

If they (whoever these many are you speak for) are unwilling to pay that much then perhaps they need to start modelling for themselves or settle for lower quality products.
I'm on a low income and yes I find it hard to afford things sometimes but I am not unwilling to pay for quality products.
Also if I remember correctly the catch up sale is usually at 50%.

    ...no it is 30%.

...and I do not have the modelling expertise considering that Hexagon (which I paid hard earned money for several years ago) is still rife with bugs and keeps crashing even on my new 64 bit system.

No, I need someone else to deal with the frustrations, and if I can afford it, I'll pay for it.

You managed to limit yourself to 3? I have 6 in my cart at the moment.

This entire thread is about how things are different from previous years, and then in the next breath, there is speculation using the previous years as a basis for that same speculation about what may or may not be available during the potential catchup sale at the end.

@ SGCBearcub: Really, this is a temptation...

@ chohole: If I didn't have an occasional look at my bank account, I too would have bought even more... But this sale just started. And I wouldn't like to eat plain spaghetti for the rest of the month... %-P ;-)

Yeah - been thinking the same - just as I do when someone mentions "climate change" for an excuse. Like "Climate Change" on its own is a bad thing or unexpected. Neither is taking a new path in marketing. If they only considered the effect of the opposite - the lack of change: People stuck in tradition are destined to never to evolve and adapt. And we may still be in the ice-age.
