Concerns about the PA Sale Setup

My Guess - Its a technical impossibility because the view that returns the cart data is computed based on a user selection. The view of the store is a list of the published prices (list & group discount) however since these "buy X and get Y discount on Z products" promos cant be determined without user selection; determining the discount is impossible on the store-shelf display.
I suppose something could be done with tools tips that would compute a running cart tally based on "purchase consideration" product mouse-overs - but can you imagine how a recursive script like that could bog things down and expose the system to even more potential for error. I think the creativity of promo business process should be limited to the capability of the system to support it effectively. This is definitely pushing the limits. I can see why other places use a rewards program, even if they are not as flashy at the P.O.P.

Saw this and thought it was worth mentioning here:

I don't know how long this is going to last (hopefully at least until the end of the day, maybe longer), but the weekly freebie will count as an item for the PA sale. This means that if you 'purchase' the freebie and a featured PA's Item you will get 40% off. If you 'purchase' the freebie and 2 featured PA items then you will get the 50%. This works even if you already have the weekly freebie.

Too late Scott, it didn't last. however...................

Looks like the weekly freebie trick only lasted for a few hours. But there is already another promotion in the works - Discounted Gift Cards. For the next two hours you can save

    4% off $50 Gift Cards
8% off $100 Gift Cards and
    16% off $200 Gift Cards

Here is a link to the Gift Card Page

This has been the best PA sale ever in terms of savings; I haven't bought anything yet.

Here's hoping this trend continues in the PC anniversary as well, which seems likely based on how it was last year.

I haven't bought anything yet either. These sales just don't seem like sales to me anymore. Daz always seems to be running some sort of promotion/sale and for me now its hohum its just another sale same pricing and tactics, but I still have been spending a lot of money on other sites loading up on goodies for Dawn. I too miss Dan Farr at the helm, it was a lot more fun here then.

Me three. I've bought a few things over the last week, and put a pile of stuff into my wishlist for later, but I don't think anything I've bought has kicked in the conditions of the sale yet. Very different from every other sale I've been in over the last 9+ years, usually I've bought at least three or four sale goodies by now. It's just not the same.

...it's making for some hard decisions about which have I wanted more and/or need more to help accomplish what I's like to do.

So far for me it's mostly been utilities: shaders & the G2 Dress Rigging system, along with the weekly/PC freebie, a couple PC items (that don't qualify), and one environment set at the single item 30% discount.

I guess, in the end, it just is what it is.
The times have changed and so has this company.

    DAZ is dead.
    Long live DAZ.

    Either way, I'm out.

It seems this place just brings out the absolute worst in me and that 's no fun at all.

If you are a PC member - now is the time!
You get 50% for one item as long as it is an item of one of these Artists

I'm seeing 30% off on their store pages, but when I click on an item it shows the full 50% off.

Since I complained about the structure of this sale from the perspective of a long time PC member earlier in this thread, I want to say thank you now. This is how you make these sales relevant to your longtime customers who have accumulated a ridiculous amount of content already. Thanks for hearing and acting on our concerns.

I would like to add to this feeling and share, since I always feel like DAZ sales are a little bit psychological games, that, when it was the buy-three game, i would hunt around and with some difficulty find three things, do math and get them, and sometimes not find three, and then not get anything. Suddenly with open season declared on the vendors so far, I filled up my cart with 9 things yesterday in a short time, no problem.

Obviously some of this can be explained by the wider array being on sale at once, but the hilarious thing, to me, is that there are one or two combinations that exist in those 9 I picked that could have been a workable 3 on an earlier day... but they didn't happen then. And so, I'm fairly certain I was more willing to throw them in my cart now for the simple reason that I could see what the 50% price actually was on the store page.

Oh so very much agreed. (Although I'm fairly sure that out of the bunch of stuff I bought yesterday during the catchup, still none of it would have triggered the top sale discount if I'd bought them during the proper days earlier in the month.) There's nothing complicated about it; this sale system is so confusing and has gone on for so long — I mean the whole buy-3-get-x%-off thing, not just the PA sale itself — it's putting people off.

I admit I just wish I could've bought ala carte from the beginning. The buy 3 thing made everything more complicated for me and prevented me from purchasing from favorite vendors selling later in the month.

Well - I can relate to that too.
Hunting for 3 things was taking too much time for me ... so I preferred to save my money and my nerves.

This morning I was looking at mairy's story and it was showing 50% (a number of stores do this then you click and it is only 30%) and immediately I could see 3 things I wanted. But because I'm not PC, I'm only getting 30% off then need to add to cart to get the remaining 20% off for some reason I don't feel the same - not sure how to describe it but urgency I suppose, to buy something. I've bought a few things so far but that was me getting 2 days vendors and using a coupon each time. If everything was 50% to begin with I would have bought more stuff.

The DAZAHOLIC badges have developed an incredibly ironic twist these days. I just don't get you guys anymore, honestly I don't. I have wracked my brain to find another example of a company that continually and very publicly " train wrecks " itself for close to two years now, and has taken one of the most loyal and passionate customer bases, and turned us all into whiners and complainers. It so goes against every basic tenant of sales, that for a long time I thought there was some fiendishly brilliant logic behind it. Sadly I've come to realize it is just thrashing in the water. God I miss Dan Farr.Well said...I said something similar in a support ticket to DAZ that I was just too used to Dan Farr and very disappointed in the current management.

I AM disappointed. And I DO feel betrayed.
...I didn't think DAZ could surprise me any more. I willfully admit I was wrong in that department. I am hugely, massively disappointed if this is how the entire sale is going to be. And I don't mind saying that outside of certain PAs, I won't be spending what I usually do on the sale this month.
*sigh*I've been feeling that way since the arrival of Gen2F. I've since come to the conclusion that DAZ don't see me as their prime customer anymore...I used to spend well over $300 in these sales this time I only bought the Genesis mermaid tales and Feral Faes poses.

To me the DAZ experience is gone..where are the coupons when BYU wins, what happened to the special bundles. I didn't find any fun in March Madness and this PA sale is a dud for me... not sure why... I think it is that the forums are now mostly for help which is good.. and the DAZ store is a store and I need to look at it as a store and not the destination I used to think of it as. So its more me that needs to change my thinking... DAZ can do whatever makes sense for them as a company. This is how I felt/feel and this is no longer the first place I visit...

I would have thought that after to lackluster responses to the past two March Madness and last year's PC anniversary sales, DAZ would have taken a hint and not gone this route. Especially after the change over from PC vouchers to coupons.

I would assume that despite those 'lackluster responses', DAZ still made a gazillion more $$$ than in previous years of those sales and decided that they rather have a happy bank account than a happy forum :D

You're assuming that the vocal members of the forum reflect sales. It's my opinion that it's not the older members that DAZ is interested in. One of the benefits of bringing in new blood is those people don't have GB's of runtime already. They're fresh to the scene and less picky about what they buy, basically they spend more because they are still setting up their runtimes. People like myself who have over 100GB's (well over) are more aware and picky about what they buy. More astute as buyers generally also. Simply because they understood in the past that eventually the prices would go down.
Like Barubary I think they probably made a gazillion more $$$ off these new users...
I guess, in the end, it just is what it is.
