Laura is popular (mainly with Thorne addicts like me), but if I'm right, she only had one incarnation, so to speak. Even David was more prominent. Please bear in mind I'm not discussing their versatility, just the number of versions (David, David 3, D3 for Genesis, D5 versus Laura... 1?). Still, DAZ is seriously neglecting younger figures now. If Gen2F and Gen2M were truly created to provide ultrarealistic bodies and not only for vendors' convenience, then please finally make good toddlers, preschoolers, pupils and students. HeraldOfFire creates stunning children's art, but Gen2F and Gen2M are very limited in that field, thus renders mainly star K4 and Genesis.

This is for the upcoming TriAx Ungulate base figure, right? (a.k.a. Moolennium Genesis?)

It had better not be. I'm going to have a major beef with DAZ if we don't get the Genesis Chicken before the Cow. I know they were stuck in the design stage for a while, trying to figure out which form to use as the base (the chicken or the egg) but they should have crossed that road a long time ago. And we're STILL waiting on the Genesis Ferret too.

Or maybe it won't be Giselle, but CHISELLE - a sculptor freak with a knack for dialing extreme shapes :o.

A truly eloquent argument. I tip my hat to you.

It is interesting to ponder what she it. We have the basic V6, Gia as an athletic woman, Olympia as a goddess, Jose as a teen. Giselle most certainly won't be an Aiko stand-in. Older woman? Thorne-Sarsa type fairy? This could be interesting.

That's because David is an adult character, not a youth. David has only had two Generational incarnations, David 3 and David 5. Alternate versions such as Legacy Shapes don't really count where they're merely transferred morphs of the original characters.

Either way, I echo the suspicion that Giselle will most likely be a Fantasy/Sci-Fi female. The roster of DAZ Icons sorely lack such a character. Yes, there are the Creature Creator Shapes, and we technically have She-Freak, but none of these entities are official bases nor, in She-Freak's case, are they even stand-alone characters with their own Pro Bundles. Up until now, the only major Fantasty/Sci-Fi character we have is Freak, and he's more of the "Sci-Fi" aspect. We need more of a "Fantasy" representation, especially since that's the kind of gear that dominates the DAZ market.

I do think she will be a thin willowy fantasy type. Would be interesting if she were something unexpected... perhaps a mil cat 2? An overweight figure? An ethnic character?

Or an elderly diva in her late fifties who took too much liking to chocolate, owns a Persian cat and speaks with a funny accent. A dreaded mother-in-law or an overaffectionate aunt. That would be something!

An older college age character? Josie and jayden never quite fit the young adult demographic who are basically 18-25 . There was still something immature looking about them. Which made them appear too young for college.

Neither Josie nor Jayden are truly young teens Julie and Justin are. They are not truly sophomores, let's say, either. It is hard to say what exact age they were aimed at. Still, Giselle sounds quite "slick" - glamourous, but not very deep. A tomboy would be great, but she doesn't sound like one. A retired lady would be much varied and acknowledging HD technology, they could look gorgeous.

The thing about the Genesis and Gen 2 figures is that they're not primarily about being characters on their own, they're about modifying the Genesis mesh and rigging rigging in such a way as to form a better base for other characters to be built on. Thus far all of the Gen2 figures have seemed to be designed around the kind of imagery/product that's historically proven popular with the user base, so we've had the classic heroic types with M6 and V6, the more muscled Gia and Gianni, the more voluptuous Olympia and the younger teen types with Jayden and Josie. David has traditionally filled the more-lightly built mature male niche, but there really hasn't been a direct female equivalent to him since the days of SP3. Given that DAZ is all about selling new characters and accessories and there is a proven demand for the leaner/elfin female figure, it seems the most likely type to follow. The other likely option is the "pixie" look for females. Teen Josie and GIrl 6 will do for some variations on that theme, but Josie lacks the hips and curves for the classic Tinkerbell figure while Girl is too stocky. Of course, the ideal base for that shape is the classic Aiko 3-4 and with no HItomi for this gen, I suspect that A6 will probably swing back in that direction.

While I'd personally welcome the addition of older or more endomorphic bases, the fact that there's never really been a lot of product in either category in the DAZ Marketplace makes those odds seem unlikely. There are morph packs that cover the bases there well enough, and if we DO see a more full-figured figure introduced for Gen 2, my guess is that we'll see a male first and his name will be Oliver.

Freak is more SF than fantasy to you? Interesting. Not where I'd put him. Maybe it's a side effect of the kind of SF I read. I mean, I could see him as a Dorsai, but really I think more of Conan.

That said, I'd love to see more alien variations for both genders. :)

As for Giselle, now I've got "retired ballerina" stuck in my head as an image... probably nothing to do with the Giselle figure, but I might try to put together a render....

Well, if we do take into consideration that David is supposed to be Stephanie's male compliment, then I would have to disagree, because both S5 & D5 looked more "Everyday Realistic" than in Gen 3. While others complained that S5 looked too curvy, I personally thought she made a nice shape for a "Hot Mom" type (there is another phrase for that type of female, but I'm not sure how appropriate it would be to use here).

As for the idea of an Aiko 6, yes, those are my exact thoughts, as well. Usually by now we have something that addresses the Anime/Manga aspect of things, but we're already six females well into the generation and the only Stylized figure we have so far is Girl. If I recall correctly, Aiko 5 sold well like all the other Gen 5 characters did, but Hitomi's sales vastly out-numbered her. This doesn't surprise in the slightest, actually. Hitomi came out some time before M5, giving her more market time, and was was revered as a big comeback to the true "3D Anime Girl" style that was sorely missed in Aiko 4 (much, admittedly, to my concurrence). However, many, although, thrown-off by A5's new "Fantasy Game" style (and something I fully prognosticated since H5's release) found her alternate approach refreshing. Hell, some of us even perceived a nice partnership between Her and F5.

This all the more adds on to the probability that Giselle will will continue this pattern. Aiko will reclaim her title as "3D Anime Girl" and Giselle will officially personify the "Fantasy/Game" type, just like how Olympia took on S5's "Curvy" type while S6 reclaimed her "Petite"ness.

But that's actually HOW I always see Freak, more like a guy who's been genetically altered in a science lab. And usually when DAZ advertise him in promos or in gallery art, he's usually depicted as an alien abomination rather than a character of lofty lore.

Though, I will admit that I was actually pleased that some PA's made effort to fantasize him with some of his Gen 5 stuff.

Taking into consideration the lore and traditions surrounding this festival, I wouldn't wait for a cutie-pie...

Still, Giselle - by the mere sound of it to me, this is more than subjective - evokes an image of something fragile, a bit fussy and snobbish, possibly with a sweet scent of perfume overdose, pink frills and short tutu dresses. Or, taking the elder way, a grandma and/or retired diva as I mentioned above. I don't think she will be SF. This genre doesn't really need a figure shape on its own, every SF race requires mix-and-matching, which is well taken care of in Creature Creator by Sickleyield and Fuseling. Then there are Martians for both Gen2F and Gen2M if I recall correctly, whereas humans are humans and while you probably have to customise their clothes, accessories (like DarioFish's "Almost Human") and maybe haircuts, changing the morphs doesn't sound as something compulsory. See how many SF stuff was made for V6. That's quite surprising, actually, that several futuristic vehicles are driven by V6 instead of M6, even though he's available.

    Greetings,
Wow! Thanks for the Giselle wikipedia link. That's an amazing story, both the underlying story told in the ballet and of the ballet itself. It'd make a...killer render. :)

I look forward to seeing what they do with it, one way or another.
