...just checked a similar trip itinerary from my home in Portland to Sydney and the total would be about 2,248$ which includes a 4 day stopover in Hawai'i for "tan maintenance" and it would all be on one airline, Hawai'ian (alas an Airbus 330 instead of 747 but it would break up the monotony of sitting on a plane for 15+ straight hours as there is over a 3 hour stopover in Honolulu on the way back).

    ...OK c'mon Megabucks Lotto. ;-)

yes, I'll need to fly from BWI or Washington National to Los Angeles first. I couldn't find any flights non-stop flights out of Dulles. I'm planning see Los Angeles or Long Beach before I continue onto Australia anyways. Maybe I'll work on my tan too. :p

    edit: forgot the screenshot

Flying into Perth might be a shorter trip, is certainly warmer there this time of year :)

But if Sydney is where you want to be, how long will it take you to get there from Perth? And is that worth the savings on the flight?

Yeah, actually I got that Mike...just trying to be cute. :red:

ETA: I'm wondering if it would be worth someone's time to go to the dead threads and close them. Not delete them if they contain some good info, just close them to new posts.

Yeah, I was trying to make a joke, but not very successfully.

But to be serious, we don't want to lock old threads if someone has a good reason for reviving them other than just bumping them to the front page.

And I don't know who locked that thread, or why.

...actually, the weather Australia in July is roughly their "late January - early February". Sun rises late, sets early not giving much daylight time so that tan will fade quick and it won't be very warm.

I'm looking more to going there when the weather starts getting bad here, y'know, that 'endless summer" thing.

I can't remember, either...I think usually he called him R2. But I do remember that in the first movie when he saw Leia, he yelled out Carrie and nobody caught it and it made it into the theaters!

Really? Now you have my interest piqued. I'm going to have pull out the trilogy's boxed set and watch the first movie to hear that. I wonder what drugs the editor was on. :coolsmirk:
