Incidentally, all dragons are immune to their own breath weapons. Obviously, not to others...

"All dragons are immune to their own breath weapons" Hah, I hope Rezca (My character, not me myself :) ) doesn't hear that xD
    He might burn himself :P

He's young, so hearing that from someone who spends a lot of time with dragons (I'm assuming Reld is still a dragon?) he might actually believe it!
Erm ... Ah never mind. Was trying to say some witty funny things, and... but I'll just... Stop I guess. =( Leave the socializing and sharing of world building to the others...

Eeee good to hear about the treatment too. I actually held my breath for a moment while reading through the posts and had a sigh of relief :)

Also I found something really important to me today while cleaning through my room!

Unfortunately the disc still doesn't really work... Files come up yeah, but when I launch the game and try and go into the Single Player it says I still need a disc bah. Thankfully the AoE Gold disc was with it, and that one did work :)
I had found a big carrying case for storing lots of CDs, like a binder sorta? And while flipping through it I found my old AoE disc :D Heheh, it has a lot of sentimental value to me since it's THE original AoE Classic disc, and it was the same one I had when both my parents were still alive :) Second game I ever played too.

Also just ordered the original Zoo Tycoon with its expansions, like the dinosaur one :)
I remember having the game in the family when I was a kid, but I don't really remember playing it. If it's anything like the Sim games (Sim Island, Sim Park, Sim Farm, Sim Safari... The classic Sim games.) then I'll probably like it a lot ^^

That dinosaur on the cover... :)

complaint: tablet cannot connect to the wireless router. It has an IP address that starts with 169 instead of 192. Uhh...?? Let me reboot the tablet. Then maybe I should remove the saved profile and manually connect to the router.

All that happened is your tablet grabbed an ip number from another DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol) server - next door neighbours? - when it booted up last

The 169 range is the default when DHCP fails, so the tablet hasn't been able to connect to any router. A reboot's always a good place to start :)

Oh yes what's that then, a single link host ID? I guess is better than a promiscuous tablet

The Poke Misty Til She Complains Thread ... ;-)

in another thread there's a discussion about calling oneself a "3D Illustrator" or "Animator" (with passing references to the age-old argument about "is it art?", or "am I an Artist?"). While not having a sufficiently strong point of view to post anything useful over there, I thought I might ruminate publically here a bit to see if anyone has a similar feeling as me. I suppose I'm wondering if there's any actual Formal Training involved to become a "3D Illustrator" or "Animator" -- and hence when somebody who is self-taught or "outside the system" pops up naming themselves as such, those who are "qualified" get understandably nervous. Much the same I suppose with people who call themselves "IT Technician" or "Computer Engineer", and then proceed to get your machine into even more trouble (>_<). If it's a "free for all", ie the "results will speak for themselves" and anyone can call themselves such (and therefore 'buyer beware' - snake oil salesmen ahead ;-) ) then there is no grounds for complaint. However, if there _is_ some expectation on the part of the General Public about what skills a "3D Illustrator" should have, then I guess there should be grounds for concern (assuming those expectations haven't been met - of course I have no idea about the people involved and what they know / have done / are qualified for). Should a "3D Illustrator" be able to trot out discussions and opinions about 3-point lighting, use of Depth of Field blur, efficient means of rendering on a 2Gig machine, etc etc... or is it enough just to be able to make pretty pictures within an allotted timeframe on a particular theme.</p>

    Hmmmm...

Don't know that it matters from an industry point of view, everything depends on history/CV/credits and you always have to train people up for particular pipelines anyhow so it depends how much experience a person brings with them rather than a title. Credits vary as well for the same skill set depending on how unions are involved in contracts and how studios are structured, it helps more if someone can vouch for you :) An illustrator here is more likely to use a pencil than anything else at, say, an ad agency or magazine. An Art Director's job is radically different across different medias, film v print for example, and a television Technical Director would be all at sea looking after a render farm, even tho they are both TD's. So is no hard and fast rules of thumb and ppl I guess are entitled to call themselves what they want I guess, so long as it isn't Dr or MD or Professor or any title awarded by an institution or organisation. My experience sometimes is the fancier the title they offer you the less they want to pay  I guess that works if you are building a CV

Correct me if I'm wrong but on the last page of the thread, I'm not to spam the thread, right? Does posting more in my story count as spamming since I have to do it one image at a time to ensure they stay in order? I'm not quite ready to release the next batch but I figured now was as good a time to ask as any.

Well, given that I'm working on scene 38 (we left off on scene 30) I still think it's a good idea for me to wait for the new thread. Course, the longer that takes, the more scenes I will have completed. (this would be where I would have the grinning devils face emote)

There is a dillema though, one can hardly start a filosophical karmic shattering, all changing, cosmic bending debat here,,

(At least not one that is not down with everyboddy is less then 6 posts, or so,,)

So we need to keep it simple (binds iron restraints around myself for disceplinairy purposses)....

    Mmmmmbllbl,, BLL, bl, b
(Shifts restraints so they no longer cover my mouth,,)

I hade fearly pleasant day, just finnished 2 plates of spagetty my lovely gf made me, and now I'm preparing a dandy outfit to go visit 2 bands I played with some 30 years back (wonder how much effort we have to make to recognize each other,,).

    Cheers,,,
