Last I checked it was still 4.0.3.12

Have you tried dropping a support request to Paolo at the Pret-A-3D site? He might be able to do something about your download access.

To be honest I wouldn't bother, I'm getting crashes I didn't get before, more problems with cameras not much of an improvement with anything, and apparently if you load any scenes built prior to 4.0.4.18 you will face the same problems if not more - everything needs to be a new scene.
I'm returning it tomorrow and asking for a refund not store credit.

...that is not good. I thought the old scene/materials issue was one of the fixes.

Are you on PC or Mac?

    I'm on a PC.
Any scenes made with reality info prior to this update will need to be resaved as they might still have the problems, if saving the scene doesn't work you need to save as scene subsets. I just cannot be bothered, its going back.

...same here. Time to install and test.

Have the 4.0.3.12 installer backed up just in case I run into issues like scorpio64dragon did.

I just updated to the new version, and it did fine for the light emissions from G2F, but the new Minotaur figure still gives emissions... Is anyone else also experiencing this, or did I not install Reality properly?

When did dad get it the updated files available? Trying to figure out if I need to download the files again.

Edit only downloaded them once and I think it was a week ago.

If you downloaded from DAZ a week ago you will have the original version. The update was released by Preta3D on the 12th but wasn't available at DAZ until the weekend as I recall. You can check in Reality for the version; if it doesn't say 4.0.4.18 you don't have the update.

Have never gotten an update notice from Daz
But I knew that an update was coming and just kept checking until I saw that the updated version (4.0.4.18) was there

    hi all.
pc win 64, windows 7 pro, reality 4
installed the update. now getting pretty consistent daz app. crashes when going to render. also, the reality icon has disappeared from the render drop-down, though i can still open the reality editor. tried several fresh reality installs and restarts with same results.

any advice, or can someone tell me how to sweep my hard-drive of reality to start over?

Did you have Reality 2.5 installed before the update?

If not, what you are seeing IS the Reality plugin. It comes up as Reality Render Editor in the Render menu.

A bit more information about what you are doing exactly when the crash happens, and what is in the Scene? Does it crash with every scene, and if so, at what point. Is there anything in the DAZ Studio Log file?

...haven't yet installed the 4.0.4.18 update yet as others are mentioning about "new:" bugs" showing up.

Disabled the current version of the plugin through the "about your plugin's" menu, but still am getting longer than usual load times as well as sliders in the Parameters Tab began acting sluggish. Also, as of yesterday evening, began experiencing Daz 4,7 crashing whenever I exited the application (I keep getting the Crash Report Dialogue each time). Very disconcerting as when this happened in the past, sometimes the scene I had just saved was corrupted.

The error on exit has to do with the Reality plug in being disabled. I was getting the same thing when I had both 2.5 and 4 installed, but both disabled.

It was an ugly error, but seemed benign. Everything still saved properly.

...so to get rid of it I'd probably have to uninstall. 4, as 2.5 cause no lg or slowness issues.

Which is odd, because disabling it did speed up my performance before. The error was annoying, but I lived with it.

However, the new update does fix the loading delay. The only errors I encountered were when the camera wasn't selected properly or it was trying to use the GPU when I didn't want it to.

...So to install the update, do you need to uninstall the older version first?

You don't have to, but I would. Just to be safe. You really only have to delete the Reality directories to uninstall it.

..does that include the ones with the scene files in the Windows/Library folders or just the one in C:/Programme Files?

Interesting, there is an uninstaller for 2.5 but not 4.

There should be three directories. One under DS \ Plugins. One is the application directory (where ever you pointed it). And the last is the library items.

I would remove all just to be safe. And I know they say you can have 2.5 and 4 installed, but I wouldn't do that either. Or at least I would make sure that 4 is installed to a different directory than 2.5.

thanks for your reply. never had 2.5. 4 is the first time i've used reality. i really just want it gone at this point, so i'm doing a manual sweep. i'll give it another shot in a few months.

    thanks again for your response.

...so basically that means I have to kill all the materials presets for the scenes I am currently working on. There should have been a separate uninstaller for 4 that way like Daz Studio when you uninstall and install a new update your existing scene files aren't crocked. Also, if I find there are new bugs that make it difficult to use and decide to roll back to 2.5, I'll have to re-register it again s the SN is different.

Beginning to sound like more trouble than it is worth.

Actually, in that case I would try installing over it. I didn't realize you had custom content. I mean, the worst that can happen is you would have to delete and install clean.

But you can always just copy or archive the current directories and then try the update.

    ....OK that was interesting

First for some reason I am unable to locate Reality 2.5 anywhere on the system.CCleaner shows it but does not give me a location. Did a full system search in Windows and found nothing.

So I went hwead and installed the update.

Tested loading a figure, that worked fine and was quick.

Next loaded a simple scene subset which loaded fine with no long delay

Played around with a few sliders in the Parameters Tab and no more lag

Cleared the scene, opened one of my simple Reality Test Scenes. Opened Relity4, all The surfaces and settinge were the way I last saw them.

Clicked on "Render Frame" and Daz 4.7 immediately crashed to the desktop. Closed the Reality UI, reopened 4.7, reloaded the test scene, reopened Reality4, clicked "Render Frame" and "Crash City" again

Yep, still a bug there, and a pretty serious one at that.

Unfortunately since it seems that 2.5 has been overwritten by the install, If I delete the Reality folders to do a fresh install, I not only lose all my scene settings, but I have nothing to roll back to if this persists except the original Reality2.0.

    Don't have Luxus.

Don't work with Blender because of it's cumbersome UI so mjcTeleBlender and LuxBlend isn't backdoor for using LuxRender.

Not making for very happy Bushido here.

Strange, I installed the Reality 4 update and Reality 2.5 is still there. The .dll's for Reality 2.x and Reality 4.x have completely different names. I'm not sure how Reality 4 could overwrite Reality 2x, since they don't use the same file names. If you installed both to their default locations you should be able to find them at:
    C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins\Reality
