I am thinking of making up a pandemic for my story that has difficulty being solved because a lot of people don't care.  They don't do any preventative stuff that is good for them.  They scoff at the people who actually care and do all the protection that is recommended.  It is because of the scoffers the pandemic seems to last forever.

I am thinking of doing a render sort of based on this idea.

I did find an image, but it is a virus?

...yep that's the culprit which has been dogging us for over two and a half years, and like that uninvited party guest, won't leave.

-I think that first part happened already... (Checks notes)... Yup...

-I foregoed* renders and just took a bunch of pictures when it was at its worst... it was depressing and frustrating.

-Yup, that's an approximation of the Covid-19 virus... it seems to be based on that 3D model version the CDC had made for PSAs.

*I do no thin dats a real word... but maybe.

Diane (my wife) gets these biodegradeable straws.  I can ask her where and what the brand is, if you're interetested. I thought they were just plastic, until she told me.

We have reusable plastic too... technically all plastic straws are reusable if you wash them, but mainly we use stainless steel straws and the aforementioned reusable ones, both of which tend to get left behind in the car despite their reusability... it's kinda gross to find a fuzzy steel straw under the seat that's been festering there for a week or two... but at least they can be cleaned in a dishwasher... ours actually has a thing to hold straws, which I didn't realize until I read the instructions on how to remove a part of the dish rack.

I wonder... are the biodegradable straws you mentioned made out of bamboo?... when I was in California last week I kept coming across plastic forks, spoons and straws that had a weird texture/feel to them, but were still very much like plastic... Someone told me they were made out of bamboo fiber something... (I guess they saw me twisting and bending the fork inquisitively)...(I hope they didn't see the part where I was gnawing on it)... They didn't know much about the material otherwise, just that it was made out of bamboo and apparently it can go in compost recycling bins...  I should probably look that up at some point.

So...  The Oso Mosasaur set says that its compatible with the regular Dragon 3 textures and associated morphs.  And it is.... But only inside DAZ Studio?  If I export it out and then try applying one of the other textures it freaks out and causes a mess like its made for an entirely different UV set. I do the same in DS and it works perfectly fine.

I guess I'll need to export out two different versions then,  one for use with the mosasaur-specific textures and one for everything else :/

  • Complaint: Summer continues to be hot. I don't like it.

Non-complaint: Summer could be worse, for sure.

Some water fell from the sky a little bit earlier... after more than a month of hot humid weather, I have no idea what the meaning of this is... is it a promotional stunt for some bottled water company?... Sky water?... What's going on!?... I'm wet and confused!

Was there a plane flying over and did it smell like water?

I think there was a french(?) movie about such land, way, way, way before Matrix, maybe from the 50's or 60's

...had a beautiful sunset here tonight  started with bathing the area in golden, then amber, and then pink rose light.

I hate phone cameras because they compensate to try and  give you what they "think" is the best image. Wish I had my old film camera with me as I would have been able to capture the light as I saw it.

It was warm and blue... and it didn't smell like blueberries... was it magical airplane juice?

Actually we occasionally get air-ambulances flying over us on the way to a nearby hospital that just got helipad on the roof... that and private planes on the way to the Hamptons*...

*For those that are not familiar with "The Hamptons" it's like Long Island's "Martha's Vineyard" on the far east end of the island... where rich Manhattanites "weekend" and hobnob with each other during the summer... the really rich ones don't even bother to be driven out, they get flown in on (mostly) chartered helicopters straight from Manhattan... it's gotten so bad over the years that some of the towns on the south shore are looking to ban helicopters and floatplanes from flying close to the beaches because there is some much air traffic from the rich people taking the "scenic route"... but they've been saying that for years... apparently it's hard to get rich people to not get what they want.
Who knew the wealthy could be so difficult?...

That's certainly not what I'm seeing in D|S, and all the options they mention using are locked / greyed out. On export/transer of the model no materials change, but the UV's do when I load them in C4D

'nopther texture complaint ,  but there's a model from a game I wanted to retexture. The developers even provide image templates for people who don't have the 3D programs that can do direct painting.  For a while I was doing this in 3D Coat, and everything's fine.  Then fast forward to today and I wanted to do so in Substance Painter instead,  but when I load it there's horrible glitches all over the body (And the World Normals when they're baked).  As far as I can tell nothing's changing between them.  CInema 4D the UV's look fine, 3DCoat looks at it just fine  -  it's only Substance (And its Epic counterpart, Quixel painter)  that throws a fit over the model.

A friend of mine states that its because the model uses two materials cloned over each other when it could have simply used one,  but he didn't and still hasn't elaborated on what he meant by that, nor why only these two programs have issues with it.

So I can't use Substance until whatever issue this is has been sorted out, which I've been having so much fun painting in as of late :V

Apparently his full name is John P. Groot...

Who knew?... I suppose it's easier to just say "I am Groot" than "I am John Pdee Groot"...

...seems I'm the target for bad gateway errors today. Had three in the last hour, that all of required multiple refreshes to finally get back  the forums (the last one took 8 or was it 9, I lost count out of frustration).

Almost thought another was going to occur as it stalled for a while after I clicked the "Post Comment" button.

Nah, You're not the target. They are using the broad shotgun approach. I've also been getting them here on the right coast.
