I had a good laugh earlier today... I just found out there are such things as "DAZ Coins"... apparently you buy them and use them towards asset seats for the Enterprise Licensing system... that, and you need to pay a "one time set-up fee" before you even purchase them.

Honestly, my brain is boggled by the reasoning behind this mechanism and the lack of a clear explanation as to why this is a thing... it smells a bit like crypto, but since I have to fill out a form to "get started" on my Enterprise Licensing to get further information, I'm guessing I'm going to have to guess on that whole deal because I'm not going to purchase any enterprise licenses...

I've got lots of questions about that...

    - Can DAZ Coins be used in parking meters?

    - Can I use Chucky Cheese dollars to buy DAZ Coins?

...what about S&H Green Stamps?  Will punch cards from the local corner coffee shop work?

I still have some old NYC subway tokens along with a few CTA ones (Chicago).

I made spaghetti tiponight.  It was mixed with new sauce and frozen old sauce.  The old sauce was too spicy for me so I put water in it.  I think a tad too much water.  I got a bowl of spaghetti ready for me to eat, as I thought, but it is too hot.  Might want to check it again in a few minutes.

    Spaghetti Tiponight?...

Tiponite, aka Element 128 on the periodic table (well, not yet) is an extremely rare "quantum metalloid" that's not even found on earth, it's used to plate transitional vanes on artificial gravity arrays...

But I suppose if you were to plate raw spaghetti with Tiponite, you could induce a flux induction flow for a short period of time... long enough to get to a repair shop and buy a new array panel.

    Thats brilliant.

That should be on one of those Five Minute Crafts videos like the one where the person sticks an airplane wing back on with hot glue and hamburger buns... maybe that wasn't the best example, but it's really annoying when you lose artificial gravity because the transitional vanes detached and that's a great quick fix.

Non-complaint:  I took my first antibiotic pill at 5:30 last night then I went to bed at 8:00 totally fatiqued, barely able to get up the stairs, and went right to sleep.  By 10:00 the flood gates had opened and I had to fling out of bed (not easy in a stupored state) to pee and I almost didn't make it.  Not just a couple of bloody milliliters every 30 minutes, but nearly a half a liter this time, then again at midnight another, and at 2:00AM yet another, then I got up at 3:30AM and did still another.  My kidneys had suddenly started full force again and were catching up on old business.  Tests yesterday showed that my bladder was not holding any quantity of liquid so it wasn't coming from there.  So the antibiotic was doing its work and had facilitated the production of lots of... wait for it...  Wheee...yes

So, this morning (4:30AM) I'm feeling non-lethargic, which is good.  Although I'm not yet well.  I have 6 more days of the antibiotic, and the doctor is going to analyze the cultures on Monday.  But for now, life is tolerable again.smiley  But I think we've discovered at least one issue, kidney infection.  Now the problem is finding out why.indecision

Back when I worked at a prototyping shop that did a lot of aerospace projects, we used a lot of exotic or unusual adhesives (as well as other materials too)... occasionally we'd order stuff from this one company that made assorted repair adhesives for aircraft... apparently there are a lot of things on planes that are glued on in addition to being riveted or mechanically fastened...

One bunch of materials that was pretty interesting was a series of thin aluminum tapes and patches with an insanely tenacious adhesive... the materials came in various thicknesses and over a certain thickness it wasn't practical to have in tape form, but they were meant to smooth airflow over seams or to patch minor damage in aircraft exteriors...

I forget what kind of project we used it in (probably a full scale part mock-up for one of the military contractors we did work for), but even the thinnest one is three times thicker and ten times harder to remove than any commercially available aluminum tape for sealing ductwork.

I remember sticking a scrap piece of medium thickness material onto a section of scrap sheet metal and it being nigh on impossible to remove... basically sanding and aircraft paint stripper was all that would remove it with a bit of work...  I thought it might be a good material for body repairs on cars... but spoiler alert: that was a dumb idea since it's still aluminum and softer than steel... but I imagine if the adhesive was used on thin steel that could be a different matter... but even that's not really practical.

I don't know if that's the same material the guy the picture is using... it seems thinner, but it's shinier than regular "duct tape" so it's probably some sort of aluminum tape (hopefully not from Home Depot)... and hopefully it's just being used to span or cover a gap in the intake rim... and not to help secure it.

    Complaint...

Tower Fans... I kinda hate these things now... these are those sideways linear blowers that are quickly replacing regular bladed fans everywhere.

A while ago I replaced a bunch of old dying bladed fans with these things because linear blowers are generally more effective and efficient than regular fans with blades... but now I'm kinda realizing these things suck... they are weaker, seem to die sooner, are too low to the ground, have stupid controls, and are stupidly hard to aim.

They are probably great for cooling off dachshunds, really short people or if you like to lay on the floor or crawl around mostly... the tallest one I have can just about cool my belly button if I scooch down a bit otherwise it's pretty useless.

The solution I suppose would be to replace them with regular old bladed pedestal fans... you know, fans with propeller type blades, but now those things are usually around $50 because they have to include remote controls on them now... and there are no more decent cheap ones anymore, ones without remotes are generally garbage quality that appear to be practically disposable quality.

Thats probably more of a "me" complaint, but we don't have central A/C because the house is too old and it would be pretty expensive to cool, even with the more modern through the wall units... but still, it's annoying because it's hot and it's hard to get good airflow going with these things.

Yes, thank you, I actually bought two similar 20" fans from BJs this week... Since Halloween seems to be next week, they and all the stores are getting rid of all the summer stuff like fans, A/Cs and outdoor/patio gear... $25 each wasn't bad and they have great air flow... but they are floor fans and I need at least two more that are big (20") and at chest level... I'm probably going to get one from Costco that has a remote control even though I really don't need that feature... it's only useful purpose is turning it on and off and using the ocellation feature (which I find annoying because it breaks up the airflow and the "on you/off you" irritates me)... I don't use oscillation, or "pulse", "gentle breeze" whatever the stupid third feature is... or the timer feature... but it is what it is... And right after I wrote my previous post the 18" desk fan I've had for probably 25 or 30 years dropped dead... the motor is completely burned out... So now I'm going to try and get something similar before they are all gone.

Summer is over... HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!... Well, at Big Lots... it started already.

Also living in an older house (80 years) and had several bladed fans before, but they didn't help. Now I'm using a blower (250 watts) that's meant for construction sites to draw air from the colder side of the house and blowing it into the room on the other side.
In addition to making the air move, it helps to keep the temperature about 3-5 degrees Celsius lower than it would be without it.

Why sell Halloween candy in August?  If you get them for trick or treaters, they might be stale or already gone (by people who has the philosophy that if candy is in house, let's eat it).  However if it is stored improperly, there might be something that squeaks getting into the candy. Hopefully they don't set up a bargain with the family pet that meows.

My TiVo stick has about 4 gigs of space which somehow means storage low warnings are almost always occurring.  I know that one gif is like 1024 times the size of a megabyte and a magabyte is about 1024 times the size of one kilobyte.  I have a feeling the Android tv OS is too big for a 640K storage on an android based tv stick.

Big complaint; fourth day in a row where I've gotten only a few hours of sleep and spent the rest of it tossing and turning feeling uncomfortable and/or restless and overall just not getting any sleep  :/

Second and more minor complaint in that the DAZ-C4D Bridge is still not working, even after reinstalling D|S itself.  Weirdest thing :o   Was working 'okay but not great'  at first, then I try one environment/scene and since then it's just not worked on anything.  I mean it'll export in most cases (But not all)  but without materials and material selections.

I remember when games required like, 10MB of RAM and stuff....  Daggerfall - which I played a whole bunch back in 'da day,  asked 8MB  and Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness asked  16MB from your computer. Nowadays they ask in the Ggigabyte range xD  Subnautica estimating 4GB ~ 8GB  as an example.

Hmm,  maybe this is a problem with DAZ Studio itself,  since I just tried to do a standard  File, Export  command on a figure and it spits the figure out minus the materials as well...

I remember playing Duke Nuke'em (the original games, not the 3D ones), Captain Comic, Crystal Caves, The Monuments of Mars...all on a computer that had only a 2MB hard drive and 640KB of RAM.  Didn't even have a VGA video card yet.  That was a Turbo XT.  Apogee games were great!

And to go further back...I used to have Joust for the Commodore 64, and Crossbow!  And it was just like the arcade game, except no crossbow controller.

I have an 8000BTU A/C upstairs in the bedroom set to 70F(21C).  Some of the air comes down the open stairway(I have baffles that help keep most of the cool air near the floor, up there so that the A/C doesn't run continuously)  The temperature downstairs stays about 77F(25C).

The downstairs is served by a twin-fan window unit exausting from the bathroom, and personal fans pointed at my lab area and at my recliner as needed.  The temperature downstairs stays about 77F(25C) warm but tolerable if you use the fans and run around nearly naked(ah ha, an advantage to Covid isolation).

However, recently I discovered that the fan exhausting from the bathroom, sucks cold air from the neighbor's half of the house through the furnace's cold air return ducts.yesdevil

And yes, one of my fans is a tower unit, I love it, because it's pointed at my recliner so the air doesn't need to get very high.

However, neither of us pay for electricity, it's included in our rent agreement because we only have one meter.
