It's nice to get the free hair and that, but Daz's unwillingness to provide information has turned me off.  I'll buy it eventually, but I'll pass on the pre-order.  I don't use most of what's included in their big bundles, anyway.

Free Summer Bikini and Voss Hair. smiley

Kinda hope there is something more but I doubt it, I don't really care too much for either.

The bundle does say it includes hair from outoftouch, one of my favorite hair vendors.

While there have been some people posting in this thread about the content of the bundle and the pricing I had the impression most people were concerned about how G9/V9 would affect their workflow and nipples and navels and other things.  So I posted a new thread focused on the content of the bundle rather than on G9/V9 itself but it got closed because there were already threads on G9/V9.  There were only a couple responses and under (I believe) 100 views when the thread was closed so I figured pricing wasn't really working into peoples decissions.

The meat of my post was:

before I would pre-order the bundle I'd need to know:

    - what's actually in the pre-order bundle (images would be best but even descriptions would be something),
      - what kind of poses?  Sitting?  Running?  Standing?  Super Hero?   Boudoir?  Riverdance?
      - expressions? Well, you get a pass here because I expect it to be a collection of generic expressions.
      - what kind of outfits?  More bikinis that look like underwear?  blouse/pants style outfits?  long dress?  short dress?  fantasy armor that looks like it was designed by Frederick's of Hollywood?  business attire?  Flats?  or high heels only?
      - what kind of hair?  Razor-girl?  ponytail?  1980's big hair styles?  short bob?  mohawk?  shaved?  straight?  curly?

    - is the HD pre-order bundle replacing the "Pro" bundle or will "Starter" and "Pro" bundles come later, (maybe a Mega-Bundle?)

    - will buying the pre-order HD bundle get us a better price than available on launch day?

    - what about the super discounts on other items that we'd normally get if we bought the "Pro" bundle on release day?  Will we still get those?

Oddly, the last three questions are the most influential.

Oh I'd love for a set of Riverdance poses, yes!

I don't know about what's normal anymore in here, but often the condition of having a released bundle triggers the sale if one either "owns or is buying in the same cart" the product(s).

Does DAZ sell Pro Bundles any more? I've seen mostly themed bundles that are not called a "Pro Bundle" or "Starter Bundle." And they are a lot more expensive than the  Pro Bundles used to be. I mean as far as new content. I know you can still buy old pro bundles.

Though most 8.1 figures had themed bundles, at least Arcadia and Merlin had starter and pro bundles.

I'm thinking it was decided for people with poor impulse control... like me.

I'll second that. Poor impulse control and dying with curiousity to find out what V9 is like to render. It's always exciting when a new generation is released. Plus the bonus freebies, as was already mentioned.

Thank you @Leana for your response to my pro bundle question.

It's amazing the way Daz can take the hype and excitement of the initial promotion of a whole new generation of figures and completely squander it by refusing to answer even the most basic questions their customers have asked. SMH.

Sadly, you are right, @Twilight76.  I am a flawed human being.

What exactly comes in the Bundle?  Be nice to know if its worth the $$$ before pre-ordering.

That seems to be the biggest question, as every Daz Store product has a What's Included and Features section, except this one.

Yes, clearly it is being kept as a surprise. If you do not feel happy at that, or if you feel the odds are against there being enough items you want to justify the purchase, then obviosuly this offer is not for you and you would be better off waiting until the products are released, when you will be able to make a more informed decision.

  • My guess is that some of the contents of the bundle still are being in production.

Well, that is possible - but not necessarily the case.

The waiting is killing me, the only reason I don't pre-purchase this outright is that I'm also waiting 'til the accompanying morph packs come out as well! Can't wait to drag G9 into ZBrush! :) :D

The gens have only been included in bundles since Genesis 1 and I doubt it will change (I might be wrong though).

The critical question here is whether they are included in the preorder bundle. If they aren't, then buyers of the preorder bundle will have to either buy the pro bundle as well, or wait for another character with a pro bundle.

I hope not, that would be really how is a forum friendly way to say it?  Not smart anyways.

I bought the bundle, and would definitely return it if it doesn't turn out to be the pro bundle.  I think many other customers would too, and sour a LOT of customers on any idea of future pre-orders.

    I posted this earlier also.

If the preorder bundle doesn't include all the necessary geographs, morphs,,etc, etc to have an anatomically complete female character when it's released it will be the last G9 product I ever buy.

I would also want a refund.

    +1

  • If the pre-sales buyers got the appropriate discount on the pro-bundle, everything would be fine, or not?

  • IceCrMnIceCrMn Posts: 2,129

    No, not at all.
The pre-order bundle should be the pro bundle + extras for pre-ordering.

If the pre-order bundle has less content and incomplete anatomy, then there is no reason to purchase the pre-order.
Just wait for the pro-bundle and get the gens, nipples, navel, and what ever else is in the that bundle.

I'm assuming that the gens, nipples, and navel won't split into separate "morph bundles" at additional cost.

Though with the current information we have it looks like that maybe the case as a few posts have hinted that nipples and navels will be HD morphs so most likely part of a separate bundle or bundles.

I'm a relative newbie given how long the company has been around, but I think this is the first time I've seen Daz announce something like this way in advance. I've only seen them directly address questions or discuss upcoming plans a handful of times and I don't expect much more concrete information until very close to release. (This is not really a criticism; I don't know what their production schedule is like and I wouldn't fault anyone for playing it safe if things come in hot all the time or are otherwise unpredictable.)

    My thoughts:

I've never understood the concept of pre-ordering a digital good...because It's digital. There's no "Oh no! We ran out on the first day, and have to wait for a new shipment!"

I'm glad to see Genesis go back to the one figure does it all method. Only took DAZ3D almost a decade to realize this was always the way to go!

Even if I'm given sufficient reason to end my boycott, I'm definitely in the wait and see camp. A lot of people have brought up some valid concerns.

It's mostly beneficial to the seller--you get to see how popular something is up front and in some industries (like games) it's so standard at this point that financial targets for new releases are often closely tied to presales, which can end up accounting for a huge number of purchases. So if you're releasing in Q1 of next year and your prepurchase goes live in Q3 of this year, wow! Look at all the money you made this year! :V For buyers, if they're excited for a thing, prepurchasing gives them something active to do about it which is weirdly psychologically impactful.

It was casually mentioned in the intro video.

Also quickly mentioned was something about the gens - don't know that I heard correctly 'cause I think he said they were coming out with G9 and we've always had to buy them before. So maybe it's with the V9 bundle, but those do exist and one way or another can expect them too.

  • Did the preorder price just go from ~$28/$78 to ~$41/$111?

It looks like it was just standard store behavior. After an item has been available for two weeks, it loses its new item discount. Now whether or not that was intended for this specific item, that's another issue. They don't generally do pre-orders, after all, so someone may have forgotten to kick the store software. We shall see, I suppose.

It's about the price you can get the product for on pre-order. On preorder you are getting a much bigger discount than you will at realese.
