I converted weight maps into blended, as you said. But I don't understand anything in all those scripts. Maybe I deleted more than needed?
try a g3 clothes item 1st.
load a shirt or jacket in ds, basicwear mebbe?is in starter essentials, and, i been applying a 3de mat
select item in scene tab, edit, figure, rigging, convert general/triax to blended,
then file, saveas, figure/prop, keep all the defaults. i been appending the duf file name with ca
for simplicity sake, i been putting vendor name as Daz 3DB
open the clothes ca in carrara and test pose it
Thanks, MistyMist. I'll try...
Here is my attempt #1. This is Galactic Armor suit. It is compatible with poses from library.
kewl!
are there morphs showing under parameters?
All that I see.
so you want to do the same thing for g3f and g3m. but uncheck compress!! unles you have the dson edirtor.
yoo doing g3m first?
convert him to blended the same way as the clothes, but yoo need two temp versions before the final save.
load g3m, set his mesh res to base, subdivision to 0.
(in carrara later, it will render subd level2)
under parameters tab, unhide the sliders.
then save him as a figure/prop twice. (these are temps)
for simplicity i set vendor name as daz 3db01, saved the duf as g3m01
second save figure/prop, saved duf as g3m02, vendor daz 3db02
after these are both created,
edit: delete the figures in scene, load g3m01.duf
after those saves,
in a text editor or dson editor,
open the g3m02.duf,
and under ,data, daz 3db02, genesis3, male, open the .dsf (prolly should save a copy of both these files 1st)
both these files have a nodes section.
in each file, leave the first node, which is the figure name information.
all the nodes under it from hip, down to the end of the node tree, delete whole section from both files.
save, and save
load g3m02.duf back into scene, he should be unrigged, but his morphs will be working.
next is to use transfer utility, i left the defaults, unchecked compress.
g3m01 as the source, g3m02 as the target.
last and final figure/prop save, set vendor as Daz 3DB, open in carrara
** the rotation limits didnt come over, i've been doing a few at a time,
only cause is freaky to see bends at 180 degrees.
procedure is basically, save twice, edit 2 files, transfer utility, save again.
Should I delete from this point (pic01) or from this one (pic02)?
If you load a Genesis figure and save that as a Carrara file, when you reload, it will only load the morphs that it was saved with and not any new ones that you may have added. So to get a "clean version", you could archive your existing "My Daz 3D Library" somewhere, use DIM to re-install a core of the morphs that you need, load that into Carrara and save the figure as a Carrara object. Once you have that done, you can copy back your archived Library.
P.S. This was picking up on something you said on the last page...
It's my original figure, modeled by me from scratch in Blender, then conformed to G3 male as a clothing, converted to blended weight maps. It works in Carrara and is compatible with converted pieces of clothing and hair from G3 library. Carrara render.
he looks heroic
genesis handles morphs differently than gen2 or 3?
I think what I have said holds true for Genesis and Genesis 2. Of course, mere mortals cannot use Genesis 3...
well, the 1st screenshot not it.
Vyusur - that is awesome work! The modelling looks superb and a very original way to get it rigged.
anybody else did the convert to blended? or interested?
we could do the steps side by side together, in real time
unless the storm outside knocks my power or wifi out, i should be up a few more hours tnite
What PhilW said!!!!!!!!
And, yes, like Misty, I am curious about how this was done.
have you tried out converting a g3 clothes item to blended weightmap?
next weekend i'll try to make some screen shots of converting g3
rael demon for gn1, seems no geografts, but he's dsa. saved him as duf. wonder if he afraid of dragons
I thought his add-on horns were geograft
Phil, thank you very much! My method of rigging is pretty fast but it needs improvements in figure's weighting, and it requires to manually assign limits. I don't know if there are any templates for this kind of work.
@MistyMist,
I am looking forward to seeing your screen shots. As for now, I have a bunch of cubes in my scene after applying the second pic deletion.
it's a lot easier with dson editor, goes on sale rarely though. got it in the pa sale.
the g3m02.duf file:
1duf look under scene for nodes.JPG
2 duf, look for id hip.JPG
3 duf, all the way down to rPectoral section, just above 'modifiers' section.JPG
4 this many curly braces and brackets above modifier library.JPG
-after delete node section should like #4
the dsf
1 First find the node_library section.JPG
2 next start with the curly brace above id hip.JPG
3 next, delete from to curly brace just before the modifier_library starts.JPG
4 this many curly braces and brackets above modifier library.JPG
-should be 7 braces-brackets above modifiers
i didnt look closer than seeing dsa, didnt do checkered uv test yet
Thank you, MistyMist. I realized that it will be chipper for me to leave all as is: G2 in Carrara and G3 in DS. G2 is pretty enough for nearly all compositions that I can only imagine. Here is two examples of G2 and G3 usage – G2 with Carrara render and G3 with Iray. I modeled the exact copy of my own pants for my G2 female with the photo texture on them taken from my jeans.
i'm holding off on final verdict til i'm actually keyframing the face rigging for animation,
cuz i only think i know what i'm doing with master clips and nla
but i haz sound effects! indeedadubidally
thinking, use particle emitter with a waterfall, to show cascading. planes or metaballs? hafta watch cripeman tutts again.
not sure about animating, but there is a freebie for liquids that might help, at least as a starting point
