A new character that I'm working on.  Just some raw renders, no post work.

I kind of like how he's coming along. I'm not sure about his blue eyes though.

Pretty good so a Conan type character. Someone was asking for Conan clothing in another thread.

I'm not sure about Conan clothing, this is a bit more "jungle", imo. In fact, that's the name of the clothes - Jungle Girl for Genesis 2 Females

Conan's clothing is a bit more barbarian and a tiny bit little less "primitive" as it tends to have some metal work and leather straps and stuff:

Something like this, might be a bit Conan-ish. lol :) Or this mixed with some leather straps and buckles.

Well, ocelot fur or rabbit fur, not a big difference to me. winkBut actually looking at that Conan picture now is bizarre when you evaluate what he's wearing and the technology that had to have been used to manufacture it - there is rabbit fur, cowhide, extremely sophisticated metallury and rivet work and from a barbarian to boot.

It's pretty close to the Marvel Comics of the 70s though. Red Sonja clothing is even more bizarre, she wears a bikini made of quarters. I'm surprised no one renders Red Sonja, I'd love to see her done. I'll try it next week & post it here. I'm not sure how I'm going to make that bikini of quarters yet though.

Anyway the renders are good and the eyes look good with it too.

Well this is a male only thread, so posting Sonja here wouldn't be a good idea unless it was a gender-bender image (Red Sonji? lol Red Sonjo? hehe). I'd really be interested in seeing some Red Sonja art if you do any. Feel free to start a new thread for it in the Commons or post it in the Art Studio section. Hit me up with a PM if you end up doing some, I'd love to see. :D

If I manage to make a bikini of quarters and render it in iRay in less than a Max render time next week I will start a Vicky and Friends thread I suppose or post it to the regular iRay Render thread. I'm a bit surprised there isn't one.

Each time I use the "mobster suit", the less I like it.  I was going to replace the tie, but forgot blush

    Postworked with NIK Tools

I think it looks pretty good! The white shirt though, the long sleaves seam a bit puffy or something. Doesn't seam to fold or lay right, imo. Great render though. I'm really digging that curly hair and the curly hair guy's face is so hunky! <3

@ divamakeup, I like how he's coming along too! :)   There's been so many males for sale that look like they were spray-painted by robots--like cars going through the factory's paint-rooms--with their faces, bodies, limbs so perfectly uniform in color.  Well, admittedly sometimes people want or like a more stylized look, but sometimes not. Your guy here has tonal variations like you'd see on real guys with his skintones that's had a little sunlight but still a bit little paler under the arms etc, and the various subtle differences between face, neck and chest and other areas that make it seem more representative and specific.  Nice!!

Re: blue eyes- since you mentioned it, :) speaking purely subjectively as one that's a bit ...cool... on blue eyes :) maybe cat-green eyes, or hazel eyes, or light golden brown eyes, would look nice against his skintones.  If you want to do blue, what about trying those really light blue-grey eyes like those dogs have?  (malamutes, or huskies?)

Hope we'll see more of him as you work him out!

I called this Going to Hell.

Loving the Eagle-Guard Armour set. I thought it went well with the Suneko pants and horns. The hair is Lucian hair, in the current M4 sale. It converted well to Iray I thought.

Character is Byron with some Kane and Gianni 7 HD morphs dialled in.

Think you've rendered that character before or close to it as a bust portrait. It's still me favorite.

Thanks for the feed back, genaris! :D I enjoy that skin texture too. It's an older one - I find that many of the older skin textures, to me, look better than many of the newer ones. I'm not sure why that is. I don't know if it's some of the PAs not putting as much work into the newer skins and just relying too much on Iray to make things look good or if it's something else - I just don't know why some of the newer skins look so flat and unrealistic. *shrug* Of course not all the new skin textures are like that, but it seams like quite a few are pretty flat and lifeless. Where as many of the older skins from M4, V4, etc seam to look more realistic to me than quite a few of the newer ones.

I appreciate the feed back on the eyes too. I've been considering a golden brown color to go with his hair and skin a bit more and I might try that to see what it looks like. The blue might be growing on me though. hehe We'll have to see.

Thanks again for the feedback, it's much appreciated! :D

There are some exceptions, but yeah.

I think maybe there's been a shift to glamor style stuff, whereas previously there was more 'realistic' looks and weird experiments?

Or maybe it's the benefit of time... recent stuff is, well, recent, while we can look over long periods of past content.

Jack is completely new. He needs a touch of work still on his cheeks, not quite right.

He'll be part of an upcoming freebie set, I hope to have them finalized shortly.

Also worth considering that many older skins have specular highlights and shadows burnt into the diffuse texture, whereas with PBR, that appears generally to frowned upon, (the scene lighting should create physically accurate highlights and shadow) In removing those specular highlights, I think some of the skin detail can be lost. With burnt in specular, you may get a more 'fake' realistic look. Same with hair textures, some have highlights, some don't. It's a matter of preference I suppose.

Oh OK. I thought maybe he was based off the Paul McCartney looking fellow, that's my favorite still, but actually Jack those eyes are quite different looking than Paul's.

Nice work Redz. Your Devil-Man, is super hot. I've always liked Lucian hair. Nice work.

Thanks Serene. Loving your war bird render. I hadn't considered the product until I saw you'd used it on G3M. Now I'm reconsidering.

I think it is a good investment. About the only thing you need to add is a good bikini/garment.

Boys next door for Michael 7 (image)

Oh, interesting. Are those their relative heights then? The poses make it a bit hard to tell.

Yes... Bobby is 6'4" , Jack is 5'3".  I forget exactly how tall Reed and Tanner are.

Om my god this guy is handsome! Perfectly epic. Love how you use the white hair and beard, that contrasts beautifully with the black of his attire. And the wings and horns match very well here. Beautiful.

Some really great images.  I always seem to be playing catch up with this thread and I haven't managed to do any male renders lately.

You should! It's a lot of fun! I used to only do female renders but doing male renders is great. It's almost like you have to get into the mind set of the guy -like how would he stand, how would he act in front of the "camera" differently than a you'd have a woman act. I find it more challenging too, because I have a lot more content for females than males so it makes me think outside the box a bit. :) And it's fun to experement and see what things made for females can work for males. Some of the clothing designed for females actually look really hot on the guys. :)

Yeah, I love doing male renders, but it seems here lately I've done a lot of other stuf that isn't in my wheelhouse much.  I have an idea for a render in my head, though, so as soon as I finish up my new user contest renders, I'm going to work on my idea.  I'm also working on that grass skirt outfit for my Keoki character and should have that finished up this week.  I decided to go all out and do the wreath thing for his head and the arm bands.  I really liked the reference pictures of the more traditional outfits for the male Hawaiian dancers that I saw.  It's been kind of interesting making the skirt and accessories.
